Quote: STANTON, Mich. (The Daily News of Greenville)- The United States is fighting terrorism - one snow cone at a time. Montcalm County recently received a $900 Arctic Blast Sno-Cone machine. The West Michigan Shoreline Regional Development Commission (WMSRDC) is a federal- and state-designated agency responsible for managing and administrating the homeland security program in Montcalm County and 12 other counties. The WMSRDC recently purchased and transferred homeland security equipment to these counties - including 13 snow cone machines at a total cost of $11,700. http://www.wzzm13.com/news/article/188877/14/Montcalm-County-gets-homeland-security-snow-cone-machine

Considering that it's war on terror money that would be otherwise used to oppress the rights of decent hardworking americans, and also of some ignorant lazy futhermuckers, I'm glad the money is being derailed to a useful place: Sno-cones.

Of course, I'm waiting for them to set the stand up so I can drop the hammer on them according to my nefarious plan... The Inexplicable War on Lemonade Stands http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2011/08/03/the-inexplicable-war-on-lemonade-stands/ Either they double down by playing the "doesn't apply to us" card; and get hammered for social classism, or they fold and stop pickin on the kids. So it's win-win either way. -Frem I do not serve the Blind God.

Quote:The Michigan Homeland Security Grant Program’s Allowable Cost Justification document, dated May 9, 2011, says the snow cone machines can make ice to prevent heat-related illnesses during emergencies, treat injuries and provide snow cones as an outreach at promotional events. WMSRDC Executive Director Sandeep Dey said one county requested a popcorn machine, but that request was denied. ..... “I don’t like the term snow cone machine, because it sounds horrible,” Feldpausch said. “When you look at it as an ice shaving machine and its purpose, it makes a little more sense. I assume it will get used in Montcalm County a lot more in the summertime by the Fire Corps.”
Quote:The Montcalm County Board of Commissioners is reconsidering operating Animal Control with only two officers. Former Animal Control Director Patricia Lentz’s position was eliminated Sept. 26 as part of $1.3 million in county budget cuts.
Quote:The Montcalm County Board of Commissioners had a change of heart Monday, giving Yvonne Niswonger her job back in the Equalization Department – at least temporarily. Niswonger was laid off Sept. 26 as part of $1.3 million in Montcalm County budget cuts.

The catch-all "disorderly conduct" charge would probably be sufficient for them to get you out of the area for the day, and charges would be dropped before the court date arrived, I'm sure. (Yes, I've been to this particular rodea a time or seven. )
