Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Are you in some type of chronic pain? I've noticed when my pain gets bad my mood goes south.

I can totally relate to PTlifeD as in ...
got off to a bad start as a kid, kept messing up as a young adult,
began to turn around about 38, still in recovery.

Life begins at 40 for many.

What's up, Chris?

=========================
I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. ~Charles R Swindoll

If I have to react to others all the time, then they own my mind more than I do.
If I let others tell me how to feel, I lose my ability to choose happiness.
If I let others tell me who I am, I've vacated self-definition.
Finally, I realized how foolish I was to give others such power over me.

Pretty much. The only point of it appears to be the struggle. So I like to imagine fighting against the power hungry jerkoffs. Can't stand those guys.

Point?

I've long gone with it's a School. Richard Bach, Illusions?
It's also a looney bin ...
To hear the truth, you must first lose your mind. You know ... all that stuff.

Or were you speaking of a more mundane PTlifeD?

Some to misery are born,
Every morn and every night
Some are born to sweet delight.

Some are born to sweet delight,
Some are born to endless night.

"Okay, so life sucks.
Thoughts?"

For some folks, yes. For others, no.
Some folks move back and forth from one to the other. Some never do.
Some can get over things and move on. Some can't.

Mine only sucks occasionally, and then usually not for long. I consider myself pretty lucky that way, in general.

Oh, and life sucks, or doesn't suck, or sucks sometimes and not others, differently for each individual.

Well, I could write quite a long list, but I'll cut to the straw:
My co-worker's Husband came back from 3 days at the hospital for heart tests which show that he's in good condition. The next mourning she wakes up beside him... he doesn't wake up.
He could have spent those days with HER, instead of having 'professionals' proving yet again what they don't know, draining time and money in the process.
And that's life. We pay professionals. Doctors, lawyers, politicians, police...
Professionals.
And more often than not, unprofessional. I'm just so damned sick of so many out there talking up a storm concerning what they know, and in the end merely blowing air. College is clearly mainly for learning how to express your ignorance in a more sophisticated way.

And yet, there is love, there is hope, and all that can be to a world full of wonder, too.
Life can be harsh, I know as well as any, but without that, what then would contrast our joy and make it something to treasure ?

Of what use, utopia, if there is naught to compare it to ?

May not be worth much but... if you're lucky enough and open enough to truly love someone and be loved in return then you will never have enough time with them.

That's sad about your coworker, sometimes we don't have the answers, doctors too of course. At least the last thing he did was lay next to her, they were together at the end.

I assume you're my pal until you let me know otherwise.

Oh, I'm sorry... what a bad thing to happen. Kiss your wife, Chris, help your son with his homework and give your co-worker a hug. In the end, the most important thing we have is our time with each other.

Experts are ignorant. It's not a good position to listen from. Sometimes they have good advice, but it should never be more positively waited than advice from anyone else, like, say, your waitress.
