Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Good gawd, that's a hefty list! All good luck to you; I'd be hard pressed to do any ONE of those things! I admire your resolve.

Not to mention I don't do New Years Resolutions. For me, they never work; if I'm gonna accomplish something, it doesn't do any good to do it 'cuz of a date, just gotta get the guts to DO it!

I DID start de-cluttering my room, and swept the whole upstairs last week. But that was partly because I was trying to quit smoking and had to keep busy (trying not to think of all I would have accomplished all these years if I hadn't been smoking!). Of course, an infected tooth going all the way up my cheek and subsequent root canal put an end to THAT! So I'll try again this week, the day after New Years (not 'cuz it's New Years, but 'cuz that's the first day Jim goes back to work after holiday and I need three days away from him--so I don't kill him--to get the nicotine out of my system!

But that's as far as my resolve goes--IF it goes that far! I paid for all that activity the next day pretty bad (back, sciatica, etc.), so stuck in the recliner so much, it's gonna be damned hard not to smoke. No excuses, just reality. AM slowly cleaning house, a bit at a time, anyway...

All good luck with your resolutions, I'm always impressed when someone manages to keep them.

Tit for tat got us where we are today. If we want to be grownups, we need to resist the ugliness. If we each did, this would be a better reflection on Firefly and a more welcome place. I will try.

I resolve to break every resolution.

If I succeed, I will have failed.

10 ? That's a heck of a list. Why so many ? Seems having just a few would make success far more likely.

Lose weight and get in better shape... seems that's 2 goals that can be knocked out w/ the same resolution.

Why the relative position of the Earth to the Sun should make one day any more or less significant to start living your life better, is something I have always found to be curious. But, if you're gonna make changes, gotta start somewhere, huh?

Good luck.

I would ask you to resolve to not make me spew all over my keyboard, but seeing as it's a resolution and you've determined to fail all of them.... nevermind!

Well, y'know, I usually resolve to do this or that - quit smoking, quit drinking, quit sniffing glue...

... But I seem to have given up most of my vices, and for the last two years I've actually lost significant amounts of weight during the holidays ( the upside of pneumonia and lung issues during the holidays! ).

My last few vices involve salt and real sugar (Mexican Coke, and not the illegal powdery kind), and I have no plans to give them up.

So really, any promises to get in shape or lose weight or clean up are things I've already worked on to one degree or another, and with varying degrees of success.

So if I promise to do any of those things, I'll fail. So I promise to fail at trying, and eliminate the middleman. Call it a cosmic loophole; it's also how I gave up Christianity for Lent. :)

Hey, snap. Almost.

Work less hard.
Use Internet less
Enjoy each day for what it brings
Don't stress about stuff that doesn't matter
Move more
Take more risks.

Ciggy butts = delivery system for Nicotine, King of Drugs!
Wonderful stuff! I love nicotine!! All the more reason to avoid it.

My Theory: the greater the Niacin deficiency, the greater the Nicotine craving.
I never searched to see if biochemistry agrees with this.

So take niacinimide (niacin if you can tolerate it) several times a day.

But HERE is the best anti-nicotine supplement, tho very little known.

NADH. 10 mg of NADH 2-3 times a day.
What it is: ß-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide
What is does: I forget. I think it provides a liver enzyme to improve niacin
metabolism. But aside from that, many folks report improved mood + more energy.

NM all that!!

No, I don't believe in New Year's resolutions for ME. They'd only create internal
conflict, resistance. I usually accomplish more by sneaking up on myself while
in a good mood with wholesome discipline, be gentle with myself.

I'm not a big resolution maker either, but I can see how such an excercise could be helpful, since the new year starting is a clearcut day/time.

Niki that is cool that you're trying to quit, it can be hard but you are too cool for school so I think you can do it!
