Rented and watched the movie End of Watch, and all I can say is Wow.

For those of you who like your action raw and in your face, this movie has it in spades. It is COPS and Training Day rolled into one. It has a reality show, fly-on-the-wall vibe to it that is riveting and undeniable.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena are rock solid in their performances, the direction is tight and......well, raw.

Below is a description from IMDB:

"Shot documentary-style, this film follows the daily grind of two young police officers in LA who are partners and friends, and what happens when they meet criminal forces greater than themselves."

Don't let that description stop you. If you like gritty true-to-life drama
then this is a good movie that depicts some of what LA police go through on a daily basis.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

It's not really my kind of movie, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. I may put it in my Netflix queue.

I hesitated to rent it because it's not my taste either, Boyz in The Hood was one of the few that I liked (usually because of an actor or stand-out performance), so normally it's not my cup of tea.

But this got nothing but strong reviews and it was written by the same guy who wrote Training Day, so I thought I'd give it a look see. Also I heard that Gyllenhaal was really good in it.

Both Gyllenhaal and Pena were excellent. They were the driving force behind this movie, it also reminded somewhat of the TV series, The Shield. It had the same kind of energy and swagger. But those 2 actors are at the top of their game in this one. I was really surprised how much I liked it and how this movie stayed with me long after the credits rolled.
