2. It was a campaign strategy meeting. Nothing the least bit was " slimy " , as all that was being discussed were the very words of Ms Judd. Hell, it's not as if they had made a tasteless and lying campaign ad, claiming Ms Judd had basically killed some guy's wife by cancelling his healthcare, allowing her to die of cancer.

James O'Keefe was arrested trying to bug a United States Senator's office. Seriously, am I the only one here who remembers that?

So when McConnell starts claiming he was bugged, it strikes me as reminiscent of O'Keefe's antics. He didn't go to prison for trying to bug a U.S. Senator's office did he?

But Rappy is so fucking dumb, so ineffably stupid, that he thinks I'm saying that O'Keefe was behind this because I brought up his name.

This is nothing remotely like Romney's comment, save for the fact that these comments and McConnells were 100% benign. This time, there was no invitation to sit in and listen to what was being said. This wasn't a fund raiser, but a private meeting, in a private office.

Absolutely astonishing! Okay, so I knew Rap was kinda simple when it came to politics and nuance and stuff, but I didn't realize he was THAT simple...wow! Mike made a funny; I got it, I think we all got it. It never occurred to me he was in any way saying O'Keefe was in any way involved in this; it was a silly, SIMPLE snark...which is why I'm so amazed. Yeah, even I can still be amazed at how Rap will misunderstand something so very simple, then GNAW on it over and over and try to make some kind of "point" with it. A new low has been reached...

So anyway; coupla dumb guys (they MUST be rather dumb, or figured they could get away with it, because yes, logically it must be illegal) record something they overhear through a door (and yes, not too smart to have a loud strategy meeting there, being so brazen at an official opening when who knows who is wandering around) and pass it on to a liberal media source. No, it's actually nothing LIKE O'Keefe being caught deliberately trying to BUG an office, nor anything like a GANG of criminals under the auspices of a sitting President breaking into a private office. Remains to be seen if they get fined or something...DID O'Keefe ever get punished, was it ever proven sufficiently and did anyone press charges? I never bothered to follow up.

Mildly amusing on both sides, if you ask me, and that's about it. McConnell's embarrassed; the Dems are somewhat less embarrassed; right-wing simpletons like Rap are having a ball on the internet, and so it goes. Which is why I hadn't been back until now, to be surprised to see how desperately poor Rap is still clinging to a minor incident not too many people are even still interested in. Let him have his fun; he obviously needs it, and the desperation sneaking into his "voice" makes me sad for him. He's gonna break a tooth if he keeps chewing so hard...

ETA: NewOld, a misdemeanor, eh? That makes sense. I'm sure they had an expectation of privacy; it's his headquarters and the door was shut (they say "locked", but I seriously doubt it, given how few other precautions they took against being heard). •McConnell aide compares bugging of conference room to actions of Gestapo in Nazi Germany.

•Jefferson Democratic Party leader outs Progress Kentucky for the recording.

•Recording was an iPhone walk-by from the hall, not a “bugging of the office.”

•CREW files ethics violation complaint against McConnell.

BTW, McConnell is now the target of an ethics complaint, alleging that he used Senate staffers and paid time to do oppo research and plan how to go after someone who hadn't announced they were running against him. Which, it turns out, is a federal crime.
