For anyone interested in trying out a new series,
Living tv will be showing Joan of Arcadia from 7th June. It starts at 6.05pm and repeats at 7.05pm on Living Plus.

Tv tome says the series is about:

A tough but soft-hearted police chief, Will Girardi is new to the city of Arcadia and dreams of providing a safe haven for his family and his community. An outbreak of serious crime in his idyllic new town challenges Girardi's desire for order, as do the ups-and-downs he faces with his family. Daughter Joan, an average teenager, has begun acting a little strange. No one knows that it has to do with the unusual way various people keep popping up, introducing themselves as God, and then giving her specific directions to do things, such as get a job. The appearances are hard for her to believe, even more so as she never knows who's going to turn up next. One minute it's a cute boy her own age, the next it's the lunch lady. For now, she's keeping it all a secret. Rounding out the Girardi family are her mother, Helen, her 15-year-old science-geek brother, Luke, and her older brother, Kevin, a former high-school sports star who is in a wheelchair as a result of a car accident. Unsure of what God wants, and if she's even sane, Joan tentatively begins to follow God's cryptic directives, all the while trying to retain a "normal" teen-aged existence.

It's actually a better show than the description suggests. Probably the best new show to come out this year... Well, the best to come out and not be cancelled right away. Wonderfalls was probably a better show, but FOX cancelled it after only showing four episodes. I highly recommend "Joan". You'll actually get to see an entire season of a good show, AND it will be back next year.

Ive seen every episode so far and thought it pretty good, the only trouble is it is up against Buffy and the Simpsons so its a real fight for me to get the remote out of my daughters hands (shes very strong for a 7 year old)

I hadn't realised it was on everyday, so I missed Tuesdays and only caught the last ten minutes of yesterdays episode. I wasn't very happy as the series has caught my interest. Did I miss anything important?

As most of the series I watch have ended their season, some permenantly, and as dinner is usually around 6pm, I think I shall record it and watch one episode a week. It will hopefully keep me going over those long summer months when the tv is full of even more rubbish.

Point of interest. Joan is played by the actress who played Janice, Dawn's friend, on Buffy. She only appeared in the episode "All the Way", in S6, but she was mentioned several times after that.

I'm glad you like it. In the States, we're down to "Joan", "Gilmore Girls", and your "As Time Goes By" (on PBS) for quality programming. The rest, as you say, is mostly rubbish - especially with "Angel" having been cancelled.

Joan is an excellent show. Probably my favorite on the air. I was particularly fond of the controversial season finale. *sigh* So good. Damn this tedious rerun season!

Well, that's all on broadcast, yes.

On cable, there's also Stargate SG-1 (not as good as it used to be, but still decent), The Dead Zone, and although I haven't seen it, I've heard Dead Like Me is good.

Also, Stargate Atlantis and Battlestar Galactica 2005 look like they have some real potential.

Love Joan of Arcadia, by the way. My only complaint is that its obvious they only expected to get 13 eps----ep 13 wraps things up pretty well, and then the next few are just filler as they figure out something else to do.

Yeah, funny thing is when I started watching Joan, I didn't figure it out and it confused me to think that I knew her for somewhere. Then when I finally get the Season 6 DVD, I watched "All The Way" and FINALLY realized THAT'S where I've seen her before. *laughs* It drove me crazy. I've seen this season like 3 or more times and I didn't figure it out until now.
Just like Andrew's character appearing on Buffy first as a Vampire. And Jewel Staite who I watched on Flash Forward (she and the rest of the cast minus Gina b/c I vividly remember Cleopatra 2525 looked familar and it drove me crazy).

I could go on for ages with this info.
