If the 2014 elections were held today, Republicans would be in grave danger of losing control of the House of Representatives, according to a series of 24 surveys conducted by Public Policy Polling in Republican-held House districts over the past few days. The surveys challenge the conventional wisdom that gerrymandering has put the House out of reach for Democrats.

The surveys show Republican incumbents behind among registered voters in head-to-head contests with generic Democratic challengers in 17 districts. In four other districts, the incumbent Republican falls behind a generic Democratic candidate after respondents are told that the Republican incumbent supported the government shutdown. In only three districts do Republican incumbents best generic Democratic challengers after voters are told the incumbent supported the government shutdown.

The districts where a generic Democratic challenger leads prior to any information being provided about the shutdown are:

CA-31, CO-06, FL-02, FL-10, FL-13, IA-03, IA-04, IL-13, KY-06, MI-01, MI-07,MI-11, NY-19, OH-14, PA-07, PA-08, WI-07

The districts where a generic Democratic challenger leads after voters are told the Republican incumbent supported a shutdown are:

CA-10, NY-11, NY-23, VA-02

The districts where the incumbent Republican leads in both head-to-head ballot tests are:

CA-21, NV-03, OH-06

Of course it doesn't mean much, given it's a "generic" Democrat, the shutdown just finished and people's memories are short. And, unlike our rabid, delusional right wingers, I'm not about to make dramatic predictions like zit's "Barry and ALOT of Demorats are going to lose BIG in November even if they get most of the minority vote, and then I will LAUGH AT YOUR PAIN!!" or sux's ""When we get Mitt into the President's Chair (which is an inevatibility (sic) now).... Mitt IS going to win in November. There is NO QUESTION about that" or Rap's recent Ted Cruz prediction of "Will be funny as hell when he's elected President". Nonetheless, 2014 should be interesting...

Oh, and by the way, according to the latest PPP Poll ( http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/2013/10/grimes-leads-mcconnell
-by-2.html
), Alison Grimes has a two point lead in her race to unseat the incumbent Mitch McConnell. The 45-43 advantage comes as a whopping 60 percent of Kentuckians opposed the shutdown. But it gets even worse for the incumbent. The poll also shows that Ms. Grimes is supported by a sizable 18 percent of GOP voters in the state. Furthermore, 48 percent of Kentucky voters say they are less likely to vote for Mitch McConnell compared to 34 percent who say they are more likely. All because the Senate Minority Leader supported the shutdown.

Just sayin'...

Im not holding my breath for any huge change in the house. Sure, nationally, the tbaggers are a joke, but they're pretty safe in their gerrymandered districts. There might be some anger at them now, but memories are short, and mid-term turn out low.

"Goram it kid, let's frak this thing and go home! Engage!"

Yup. If they'd just go right on acting like idiots right up to November 2104, there might be hope....
