Well, it's that time again, here are the nominees:

My main peeve is with the nomination of anything for Wolf of Wall Street, nominated for Best Movie, Actor, Director. I haven't see it and I don't plan to because my son said it sucked big time. From the beginning it's gotten mixed to poor reviews, which surprises me for a Scorcese flick, but you can't win 'em all.

So remove anything it's nominated for and replace DeCaprio with Hanks, and Jean-Marc Vallee or Paul Greengrass for Scorcese. Otherwise I pretty much agree with the nominations as submitted. Tell me what do you guys think?

What would you like to see added or subtracted from the list. Don't be shy and have fun with it.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

So far, I've only seen one of the Best Picture nominees, Gravity, but I will likely see several others over the next week or so. However, I'm not interested in Wolf of Wall Street, and American Hustle doesn't appeal to me very much either. Yesterday, I saw Inside Llewyn Davis, and was expecting Oscar Isaac to get a nomination. Granted, his character might be hard to sympathize with and like, but I'd bet the same could be said of DiCaprio, Bale or McConaughey.

Since they've expanded the number of films nominated for Best Picture, it would be logical to have done the same for actors, actresses and directors. "Her" is nominated for Picture and Original Screenplay, but neither Spike Jonze or Joaquin Phoenix are so honored. An actress that would have been on my list is Julie Delpy for Before Midnight. And speaking of that film, why is it an "Adapted Screenplay" rather than original, just because it's a sequel?

You know, I forgot that Jonah Hill was nominated for Supporting Actor. Sorry Jonah but you must make room for Jared Leto (I've heard good things).
I'm also going to see several over the next few weeks; I like Nebraska, Llewyn Davis, American Hustle or Dallas Buyers Club or Her. There are so many.

Oh, another possible replacement/addition Joaquin Phoenix. It is a shame they don't expand the major categories, Spike Jonze did win a Golden Globe for Her (that film looks extremely interesting), but I could tell you that they expanded Best Picture to tap into the box office - squeeze a few more dollars over the next 6 weeks. It's art, but the studios are looking to make a quick buck (unfortunately business gets in the way).

Plus Oscar night would really be a marathon and possibly go into a second night.
