What address would someone use to send a package to someone on Serenity? Especially if no-one really knew where the ship's next port-of-call would be?

If Kaylee had invented some little mechanical gizmo and was making them up in thew ship's machine shop and selling them, what address would she stamp on them?

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Maybe a post office box on the space station they visited in "The Message."

It seemed they could indicate an upcoming stop on the cortex, or have their mail forwarded to certain locations.
Places they can't stay or don't visit often like Persephone would not work, as well as locations of crime. I had thought there were more times they mentioned mail than Message.
Since it takes more than a week to traverse the Verse, it may seem like they would have more than one spot.

The ship's address would likely be Serenity, much like boaters or ship crews list their ship as the address, and the mail gets offloaded whenever.

Thank you JewelStaiteFan;
I'm guessing the cortex is what we on Earth that was would call the internet, but on steroids? If so I guess they could have a CPOB (Cortex Post Office Box) where electronic mail could be sent and which they could post their schedule ... I guess something like a web site. The Alliance Post Office (I'm assuming it would be them) would be able to access this to determine where to forward any physical packages.

A physical address would probably be as you suggest:
e.g.
Inara
Serenity (+ whatever Serenity's Unique Hull Number is)

I highly doubt Mal would post his itinerary to any Alliance data base.

There is that :)

And yet he must have someway for clients to reach him. This could probably be handled by encrypted email, and for new clients, they'd probably have heard of him by word of mouth and have to work through some intermediary who does know how to reach him. But also someway for packages to reach him. That might be a bit harder.

"Mother, send me some more socks. Send them to that place where Smiley went west and I'll pick them up next time I'm through there."

So a coded 'drop' (and who knows how long that would be safe?) or a trusted middleman ... (same deal, who knows how long you could trust him?)

The Alliance data base would be how modern ocean-going vessels get their mail, whether military of commercial, anywhere in the world.
Once that is understood, I cannot believe there is not a less-than-official version of the same thing.

Mal picked up work somehow. Some new where to leave a message as witnessed by the fact that the mail man was on a first name bases with Mal.
