Well I like both but I love Firefly. I realised the other day that they have a similarity which maybe brought me so much pleasure. Both have a disparate group of people brought together by a spaceship that is much loved. They fight for survival, they are sometimes badly behaved but they grow to care for each other. They fight a common foe and are often outgunned but never completely outsmarted. They form a community, they belong together even though they often fight. Za`an and shepherd Book- spiritual, religious with a past. Gianna, strong but childlike, Kaylee...need I go on.

However when I close my eyes I could see myself preparing a meal for that big wooden table, but I cannot imagine myself on Moya.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

When I first saw Firefly I also thought it was similar to Farscape, at least on a superficial level, and I compared it unfavorably to the earlier show. Of course, the first episode any of us saw on TV was "The Train Job," but after a couple more my opinion switched, and I then considered Firefly to be superior. Still do.

When I see Farscape I want to like it, mostly before I first saw Firefly.

But the first time I saw Firefly was the latter part of Ariel, which seemed weird, somewhat interesting, until Mal wrenched Jayne. That woke me up and I figured I must have missed something. Had to watch the rest of it.

I cannot recall another TV experience like that.

I had a realization today...the only way "we" will make it to other solar systems is as androids. Self repairing, power cell replacing. Faster than light ain't gonna happen, but androids are maybe 100-150 years off. The future might look more like Steamworld Heist than anything.

They even reference Firefly in this review several times.

What was cool back then is that the two fandoms rallied behind each and supported the campaigns to save/revive both shows.
We got Serenity, they got The Peacekeeper Wars. And this was way before social media became the powerhouse it is now.
Good times, good times.

I want to again thank all who did this guerrilla support which resulted in Serenity. Without which I likely would have never found Firefly.
Thanks.
