Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Yes, it is all Hillary’s fault. No, not Muammar Gaddafi’s fault, despite the little colonel ruling Libya for merely 42 years and his only plan for a successor was to make his eldest son the next President. Blame Hillary!

Gaddafi had also stated that "those who don't love me do not deserve to live". Such a humanitarian impulse. Blame Hillary!

Gaddafi's son Saif al-Islam Gaddafi has stated that family will "fight to the last man and woman and bullet". By last man and woman, he meant last Libyan, not last Gaddafi. If every Libyan had to die to preserve Gaddafi rule then it was the will of Allah. Such a wonderful son making his Daddy proud. Blame Hillary!

Trump supported the military action in Libya that he now characterizes as a mistake.

Trump lied about being totally against the War in Iraq, too.

It’s not a great idea, in general, for journalists to let politicians get away with bald-faced on-camera lies. But it’s particularly important not to let them do it when, as is the case with Trump on these two issues, the lies are so predictable.

Trump says these things about Libya and Iraq all the time. It’s not incidental, it’s the core of his message. He says it over and over again. And it’s not true. People need to know that.

As I was watching the much-ballyhooed Commander-in-Chief forum aboard the
Intrepid, I discovered a couple of things:

1- Trump is a bald-face liar
2- NBC's Matt Lauer dropped the ball - later in a after-forum forum Rachel Maddow was busy back-pedaling when an Iraq veteran posited that perhaps
NBC should have allowed a few questions by the rank and file, the actual
grunts, to pose such questions as to why:

a- The candidates never served in the military
b- Why didn't the candidates children never served

Maddow side-stepped that land mine, but quick. The veteran and IAVA member
had a valid point. But in thinking about it, since the IAVA campaigned for this they should have requested that certain questions be allowed; but maybe they did and were rejected - who knows?

I thought that the veteran's forum after the main event was truly interesting because they gave their assessment of the forum, and they were
not pulling any punches.

The first discovery is nothing new. We all know Trump lies for a living; nothing new here - move along.
But Lauer failed to press Trump on his bold lies; such as his claim that he didn't back the war in Iraq and Libya. He allowed Trump to wriggle off the hook a couple of times, put pressed him on his "plan" to defeat ISIS and we
got NOTHING, as usual.

Trump looked frazzled. Hillary didn't do so well either. She totally went
overboard in her answer about using no further troops in IRAQ. WTF is she
totally insane.........absolutely no troops going forward. No one can
predict that, no one knows the outcome of the middle east quagmire.

Trump totally went insane regarding stealing oil from IRAQ and keeping it
as part of "to the victor go the spoils" - little does he know that it's
considered a war crime. OMFG! What a nightmare! Imagine a presidential
candidate not knowing about that. Yet, some would claim that he couldn't
possibly get the U.S. into a war from merely not knowing things or opening
his fat yapper. Noooooooo, of course not. Far be it from me to suggest such
a thing. He's just what this country needs, an OUTSIDER!

Fucking right nearly has a cow regarding Obama's lack of experience, but now it's okay. Sure, why not!? Let the dumb motherfucker have a whack at it.
What possible harm could that do?

Iraqis were watching last night’s show of Hillary vs Trump.

Were Hillary even faintly offering Iraq any more American troops, she would be ensuring that the Sunnis and Shi’ites would attempt a transfer to the USA of all responsibility for fighting terrorism inside Iraq. There would be a law adding a new stanza to the Iraqi national anthem: “Let the Americans die for Iraq’s Freedom because they want it more than we do!” In Arabic that rhymes.

The Sunni and Shi’ite parts of Iraq’s government need very loud and forceful encouragement to cooperate with each other because Americans are NOT coming to rescue Iraq from itself. Hillary gave that encouragement.
