This is an animated feature movie about Spiderman. The 'Into the Verse' part deals with a villain messing with a "collider" machine, invented by a demented
genius, that sends the various times and dimensions where Spiderman (and woman) exists.

There's like 6 different Spidermen that get shoved into one dimension, or parallel universe, and a young kid named Miles (who lives in a version of New York City) gets sucked into an adventure. That's the best I could do with the
description of the movie.

Let me tell you it is one of the best movies of 2018, or any year for that matter. The script was extremely well written and it was wonderfully directed.
It's geared towards kids and comic book fans, but this movie was better than most live-action movies out today. It's been out almost a month (released on 12/14/18) and the theater I went to was completely sold out.

According to Box Office Mojo, it's made close to $138M in a little over 3 weeks (12/14/18 - 1/9/19). But that really doesn't tell the story of the success of the movie. It's the story and the script. When did you ever hear of a PG movie scoring $138 million dollars? This movie could have easily been
cast as a live-action movie. It's fun, funny and, despite it's nearly 2-hour running time, paces quickly and steadily without losing anything in it's storytelling. It has everything that a regular movie has; action, cool music, interesting characters, snappy dialogue, sight gags and real emotion. Yes, it reads like a comic book, but it's a real page turner.

I dare say that there will be a sequel, and if it's written like this one, and drawn like this one, it will be a sure hit. It will definitely be the winner of the Best Animated feature come Oscar time, but will it be considered for
Best Picture overall. I think so. This is a film for the whole family to watch together, it will not disappoint.

I give this film 5 out of 5 Stars, excellent!

Wow!

Just saw this, 2x , and it's brilliant!

One of the better made films I've seen in years.

It's Deadpool level fun.

End credits sequence is a pure masterpiece.

i liked Octavia, but I think they went too far on KingPin. Granted, it wasn't OUR universe, or OUR Kingpin, but even so, I'd have gone a different way. Also, slight issue with how Gwen was able to transfer into Miles's school while not having anyone to help her in the verse.

I hope there's a sequel. I knew it got good reviews, but those aren't always entirely trustworthy. I wonder if it may have done better w/ out there having been a reboot of Spiderman and all these super hero movies, or if helped out. I have my idea, but maybe in the end, it was all a push and it doesn't matter.

Guess we'll never know.

I especially dig Gwen Stacy's costume.

That she's a classically trained dancer AND in a rock band... just too awesome.

With a production budget of $90Mil, I'd guess that it sees a sequel.

It's already made nearly $190Mil domestically and another $180Mil internationally.

Even when you factor in the 200% cost for production and marketing combined, the international take covers all of that and the $190Mil it's made here is all profit. Not to mention any money it will make with BluRay and streaming sales.

One thing I find a bit odd about how long movies stay in the theaters these days is how little money they seem to make after the first 5 or so weeks. I'm sure a lot of that has to do with less theaters showing the movie, but it just makes me wonder why they remain in the theaters for so long.

More than half of the money Spider-Man: Into the Verse made was by day 16.

More than 3/4ths of the money it made was by day 30.

7/8ths of the money was made by day 44.

Day 60 broke $180Mil, domestically.

It's been in theaters another 38 days after that and only made $10Mil in that time.

It's made less than 1 Million in the last 12 days.

I'm by no way saying that it is a mistake to keep them there this long. I'm sure they wouldn't do it if they weren't making money off of the practice. I'd imagine the overhead coupled with ridiculous licensing fees to show these movies force the theater owners to milk them as long as they can.

Just makes you wonder when the overhead makes it unprofitable to keep showing a movie, and how much thought goes in to raising prices of the snack bar to compensate when movies that were supposed to do well bombed.

I was wondering about that too. I was about to go see this flick in the theatre down the road, but it's only running a few times a day now, and I didn't get around to it. I then see I could rent it on my cable system, for about 1/2 the cost of a movie ticket, so hell yeah, I jumped on that.

I never rent stuff on cable, but this was a no brainer. 48 hour rental, so I could watch, rewatch, pause... next best thing to buying it. Which I still may. It's that good.

Kiddo and her bestie were looking for something to do, so we finally got around to going into town to the cheap seats to see this one.

For visual interest, I'd give it a 20 out of 10. They really worked hard to combine the best things from comic books and also what you could give to an animated movie.

The plot line itself was more than adequate, but there were several places that needed trimming and a better flow and a little less "Is his father the ONLY cop in town??"

And I'll give them points for trying to inject a sense of family and emotional duty that previous generations are lacking, but I am too old to enjoy it. A few periods during the movie hubby and I were bored senseless. However, I will admit to a few out-loud chuckles, as well.

We give it a B+, which is far better than should be expected from the sort of movie it is. It's a decent effort.

Sometimes the highest draw films require a certain multi-week commitment before the theater will be allowed to show it. Some theaters will not show those films.
After some weeks at the highest price theaters, the 2nd-run cinemas, discount cinemas, small town theaters, Drive-ins, and such get their shot at showing the film.
At some point, this dynamic gets overwhelmed by DVD sales or rentals, or cable or streaming, other media. I've seen some films released on DVD only months after cinema release, never getting to my local $1.50 Budget Cinema.
My fave cinema is $7 on opening night, but my nearest is something like $10 or $12.
