Trump should be feeling good about it.

I'm hoping that his administration is able to quash this before anything gets out of hand.

Then again, a full out WWIII would probably require a draft and that would open up a lot of jobs for people who are too old to be drafted. Maybe it would put a little hair on east-coast and west-coast millennial balls.

It would be pretty amusing to watch coastal millennials be snatched from the womb of their safe spaces and dropped in the middle of Mecca.

They'd probably forget about their 1st world problems pretty quickly.

WISHY, you are, if nothing else, predicably twisted. The one thing that you do over, and over ... and over, and over ... is accuse people of your very own faults. You, the most racist person on the board, accuse people of being racist. You, the most sexist person on the board, accuse people of being sexist. You, the most psychopathic person on the board, accuse others of being authoritarian. And you've made it abundantly clear that not only will you willingly post about killing billions of people - and then double-down on "evil" - you've also made it abundantly plain that you don't give a fuck how many people the USA kills abroad in real life. NOW, all of the sudden, you accuse people of not giving a fuck about war? (oooh, there's that drinking game!)

Seriously?

Yanno, you used to accuse people of being narcissistic. I'm beginning to think that's YOUR personality disorder!

I wonder if I should burp your most egregious quote back up to the board. It DID seem to put some kind of restraint on your posts.

Happy New Year, WISHY. I edited out your psychopathic screed!

Honestly, not so great. I understand why we did it, the guy was a murdering pig … but this is different than the Taliban, or ISIS, or Al Qaida, or Iraq. Classy.

Everyone should go gluten free. Gluten is poison, especially in the levels that fat-ass Americans eat it in their diets. The health benefits of going gluten free are widely known, whether or not you choose to ignore them. You've got an internet connection. Feel free to Google it. I'm not going to be your life coach.

Ballistic Missiles May Have Been Used In Huge Strike On US Base In Iraq
Update(1355ET): Details have continued trickling out and are scant, but by all accounts the Saturday attack on Al-Asad airbase in Western Iraq, which houses US forces, was a big one. Reuters cites an official who said "the base was hit by ballistic missiles but he left open the possibility it was struck by rockets." This has led to some speculation that ballistic missiles could have been fired on the US outpost from Iranian territory.
But Reuters also notes, "Two security sources in Iraq and one government source said the base was hit by multiple rockets fired from inside Iraq." One regional analyst has gathered sources to detail the following...

NATO to hold biggest drills since Cold War with 90,000 troops
BRUSSELS, Jan 18 (Reuters) - NATO is launching its largest exercise since the Cold War, rehearsing how U.S. troops could reinforce European allies in countries bordering Russia and on the alliance's eastern flank if a conflict were to flare up with a "near-peer" adversary.
Some 90,000 troops are due to join the Steadfast Defender 2024 drills that will run through May, the alliance's top commander Chris Cavoli said on Thursday.
...

The last exercises of a similar size were Reforger - during the Cold War in 1988 with 125,000 participants - and Trident Juncture in 2018 with 50,000 participants, according to NATO....

WHAT HAS CHANGED

NATO and Russia are closer to a direct conflict than ever before. Russia, however, is not the weakling that it used to be.

China and Russia are now joined at the hip. China is a huge industrial power with massive dollar reserves and global trade ambitions.

The other gorilla in the room is Saudi Arabia. The USA proved unreliable along several axes:
1) USA Patriot missiles proved unable to protect Saudi oil facilities from Houthi drones and rockets.
2) Saudi Arabia lost on several fronts getting involved in USA sponsored projects.

They lost big in the 2014-5 USA- sponsored oil war with Russia. Saudi Arabia increased it's output and oil prices fell. But it turned out that Russia was much better able to survive low oil prices than Saudi Arabia.

Despite funding ISIL, they failed to dislodge Assad from Syria.

Similarly, they failed to defeat the Houthis despite extensive USA support

3) China became a valued market for Saudi oil.

4) I think the final nail in the USA's coffin, at least for Saudi Arabia, was watching the Ukraine war unfold. It's clear to me that they see Russia as the winner, and the USA as something a paper tiger.

Between Russia and China the world is being pulled into two blocks. This includes key previous USA allies like Saudi Arabia, UAE, etc. India sits between the two, because of its hatred of China. (I thinks it's just national jealousy bc India still hasn't got its act together.)

The USA and NATO are being harried on numerous fronts. It's unrealistic to add Taiwan to the mix, but neocons are delusional,if nothing else.

NATO preparing for war with Russia - as Germany warns Putin may launch attack

A leading NATO official has said civilians and armed forces in the West need to be prepared for the outbreak of a war with Russia that would demand significant changes to their lives.

Saturday 20 January 2024 09:06, UK

https://news.sky.com/story/ukraine-war-latest-russian-foreign-minister
-sergei-lavrov-holding-major-news-conference-12541713?postid=7091345#liveblog-body

Dutch Admiral Rob Bauer, chairman of the NATO military committee, said that while armed forces are already prepared for the outbreak of a war, citizens should also be ready for a conflict that would require a significant change to their lives.

Admiral Bauer said: "We have to realise it's not a given that we are in peace. And that's why we [NATO forces] are preparing for a conflict with Russia."

"But the discussion is much wider. It is also the industrial base and also the people that have to understand they play a role."

Admiral Bauer said Sweden had done the right thing by calling for its population to prepare for war earlier this month.

"It starts there," he said. "The realisation that not everything is plannable and not everything is going to be hunky dory in the next 20 years."

The official's warning comes ahead of the launch of NATO's biggest exercise since the Cold War, as the alliance practices repelling an invasion by Russian forces.

Some 90,000 troops are set to join the Steadfast Defender exercise that will run through May, including 20,000 troops from the UK.

Russia could attack NATO countries in under a decade, German defence minister Boris Pistorius has warned.

"Our experts expect a period of five to eight years in which this could be possible," he told German outlet Der Tagesspiegel.

"We hear threats from the Kremlin almost every day, so we have to take into account that Vladimir Putin might even attack a NATO country one day."

But it is unlikely "for now", he added.

However, he said "one thing is certain - we are dealing with a military threat situation in Europe that has not existed for 30 years".

Mr Pistorius said: "We see it through Russia's attack on Ukraine. We hear threats from the Kremlin almost every day - most recently against our friends in the Baltics."

Asked whether the German government could do more to help Ukraine, Mr Pistorius said his country was the "second largest supporter of military aid after the USA, and therefore the largest in Europe".

He added: "If Putin wins this war and occupies Ukraine, the danger for the alliance's territory will of course also increase."

The Russians do love to mention Hiroshima, but they didn't understand the consequences for weaklings such as themselves. The Russians should be very careful, assuming they don't want to die screaming in a fire, because the US will nuke them, but every single time Russia walked up almost to the edge of nuking the US, some lower-level Russian refused to push the button. Americans won't refuse and their nukes actually are reliable and very accurate. That is the entire point that Russians don't want to understand or else they would not be acting today as they have habitually acted for centuries: killing tens of millions, enslaving more, and stealing their land. The USA has spent many $trillions to build an H-bomb delivery machine to destroy Russia and hasn't used it because of American politics, not because of constant Russian threats to nuke the USA. Russians don't seem to understand that Mutually Assured Destruction is not protecting them from American nukes. Russia is being protected because Presidents are worried about their political party being reelected. Repeating Hiroshima on Moscow is a 100% guaranteed way to lose the next election. The aftermath of a nuclear war? Nuclear Winter? The Road Warrior scenario of a ruined Earth? Worries about that are secondary to being reelected, but politicians don't want to admit that they care less about the end of the world (EOTW) than about the next election. If the politicians cared about EOTW, they would make climate change the top priority, but nowhere do politicians react that way because the enormous expense to immediately prevent climate change would mean they don't get elected. Reelection is the top priority, not preventing the EOTW.

[DEFENSIVELY, OR AS A RETALIATORY STRIKE- SIGNY] Russians don't seem to understand that Mutually Assured Destruction is not protecting them from American nukes.
Once again, you made my point: Our politicians don't care about anyone but themselves.

Quote:

SECOND: If the politicians cared about EOTW, they would make climate change the top priority, but nowhere do politicians react that way because the enormous expense to immediately prevent climate change would mean they don't get elected. Reelection is the top priority, not preventing the EOTW.

Yes, it's a pity that our political class is almost to a person utterly corrupted, isn't it?

Worse, there are batshit crazy ideologues in the permanent state constantly driving this herd of nincompoops towards war. And the nincompoops don't mind, as long as they can get up on a pulpit ... er, podium ... and bray about America!!! and the "enemy du jour", and (oh, by the way) scrape more of that war $$$ into their pockets.

Not to mention that when we send them, the Russians WILL send them right back too.

America isn't going to nuke Russia. Russia isn't going to nuke America.

This is a stupid argument.

Im not losing any sleep over this. Not because there aren't crazy people in DC who would stumble us into a nuclear WWIII (bc they're always escalating to threats, sanctions, and kinetic warfare and ... literally ... can't imagine doing anything else. Yanno, ppl exactly like THUGR*, but who make the decisons) but bc there isn't a damn thing I can do about it.

I have much more immediate things to plan for.

*And if you think ... "No, they can't be that stupid" .... just listen to people like Germany's Foreign Minister, Annalena "360" Baerbock. Or Biden. Or Blinken, or the head of NATO Stoltenberg, or Rishi Sunak or (Lord) David Cameron (UK's Foreign Secretary), or Ursula "van der Crazy" or "Jungle" Josep Borrell.

Or any number of the interchangeable bimbos heading those insignificant countries.(Sorry ladies, but you weren't picked for your smarts.)

And here is a description of Macron's overstepping the line of direct conflict with Russia: Deploying French troops to Ukraine to "help" them run their air defenses and perform other covert activities. Russia killed, they say, about 200 French "mercenaries" when it struck a hotel in Kharkov. For now, everyone is still calling them "mercenaries" but apparently the French Ambassador to Russia was dressed down, with evidence, and a message was sent to Macron that a repetition of serving French troops in Ukraine would be considered an act of war, and are legitimate targets.

Beginning appx 36 minutes:

SO, IT'S NOT THAT OUR ELITES "INTEND" WWIII, BUT THEY CAN'T STOP THEIR PROVOCATIONS AND ESCALATIONS. AND IF THEY CAN'T STOP, THAT'S WHERE WE'LL WIND UP.

The only people I think are "stupid" enough to throw a nuke are Muslims who are actual Muslims and would do it for their god.

Nobody else.

Not Russians. Not Americans. Not Europeans. Not China. Not North Korea.

Everybody who doesn't have them wants them, just so they can pretend to throw their little dicks around, but nobody has any interest in starting the end of the world and certainly doesn't want to be the one who is known as the person who started the end of the world.

AI is a problem though.

ETA: Yanno... I re-read your post and I think I see where you're going there.

Maybe the problem is decades upon decades of everybody taking Mutually Assured Destruction for granted and deciding to start doing what we haven't been doing to countries with nukes because we Know they won't use them.

Russia isn't going to nuke America, or any of the larger and more powerful EU countries. America certainly isn't going to nuke anybody... (Directly... But could and would by proxy if given the opportunity to do it in a way where they couldn't be caught).

I could see a smaller incident happening with a non-world power. Just something to get the fear ramped up to 11 among people who weren't even born the last time a nuke did go off, which is a lot of us.

You think the youth of America is terrified of climate change? Or you were disgusted by how they were cheerleading vaccine mandates or rounding up people who wouldn't get them into concentration camps? Just wait until they live through actual nukes going off half a world away.

Good. That's my whole point.

I don't think there's any chance we've got a nuclear WWIII happening in our future, but even if there was there wasn't any single thing any one of us could have done to stop it from happening.

And really, there's nothing we could do to prepare for living in a world after it happened either. Those "Doomsday Preppers" might be giving themselves a few weeks or even months more than everybody else gets, but who the hell knows what happens when their provisions run out, especially when things like power and running water aren't working anymore. I don't think that life is going to be one that most people would care to live anyhow. More power to them, I guess.

Me? I'm done worrying about all that bullshit. What's going to happen is going to happen. There's a life to live right now and I have no desire to spend any more of it worried about what if scenarios.

Yes, these people are that stupid.

Stupid is not the right word. These people have excellent brains. They are highly articulate. They can make complex arguments, speaking for hours, to persuade people that their plans make sense and you should vote for them as the best people to achieve those plans. But the plans, oh, those are so silly. I'll give you an example from Putin, rather than an American politician, with a silly plan:

Putin stokes tensions with US, declares 1867 sale of Alaska 'illegal'

Interestingly, Vladimir Putin appears to have rethought the sale of Alaska to the Americans. It's not a joke: he's trying to give the impression that his influence extends not only to his country's future events but also plans to rewrite the past. Therefore, he signed a decree rendering the sale of Alaska illegal.

This is likely the beginning of a request for its return from the United States.

Putin and his propaganda specialists persistently build an image of Russia as an empire that makes demands against its neighbors and, if unheeded, resorts to war and other consequences. As witnessed in previous years with Georgia and Moldova, Ukraine experienced similar tactics as it was attacked by its neighboring country in 2022.

It appears that Moscow has claims against the United States now.

Vladimir Putin signed a decree declaring the sale of Alaska to the USA as illegal. This action signals the start of a demand for the territory's return and potentially entering into conflict with the superpower. However, this is just political posturing today, and no rational person would suggest that Russia could assault the United States. Nonetheless, as the saying goes, a continuous drip can erode a stone.

"Before Americans seize our properties abroad, they should remember, we also have something to reclaim." - stated Vyacheslav Volodin, the chairman of the State Duma, during a plenary sitting in the summer of 2022. At the time, Russians reacted nervously to the US-imposed sanctions on Moscow.

This propaganda tactic may not intimidate Washington's authorities but perfectly illustrates the Kremlin's new approach to international politics and its respect for agreements. Today in Russia, a fact clear and not disputed for years - that the Americans purchased Alaska legally in 1867 for $7.2 million - means nothing.

Interestingly, Alaska plays a significant role in the relationship between both countries. The USAF bases and USARAK (American Arctic military forces) are stationed here. Centers found in Fort Greely and Eielson are equipped with advanced machinery through which Americans could quickly launch an attack on Russia, including nuclear warheads.

of-alaska-illegal,6987041965938817a

Signym, by the way, Putin declared Crimea was illegally in Ukrainian possession, just like he declared Alaska is, at this moment, illegally in American possession. We all know what Putin did to Crimea. Alaska is next. Smart-brained Putin makes silly plans.

You are the definition of an American who cannot think ahead about alternative paths. Here is an alternative for you: NATO wins or Russia wins. There are statistics for what happens when Russia wins. Russia delivers relative poverty for everyone when Russian politicians make the decisions:

I've got a post history dating back to 2006 that says otherwise.

Case in point, this whole Trump thing isn't going the way you said it would be.

Coal burning cars are going away.

I bought a house with cash after a market crash and haven't paid a rent or mortgage for going on 13 years.

I paid off my debt in 2005 and never went into debt again.

Ok, so again ... WHAT are we doing in Iraq? Parliament has told us to leave several times already. We're not "fighting terror", we're not protecting ourselves or an important source of oil, we're not rebuilding the country, so ....???

Other than itching for a fight, or wanting to throw our weight around ... maybe distract from the clusterfuck that is NATO in Ukraine?

The blowhards are blowing hard that we'te being forced into attacking Iran. [Question: Who is forcing us? Does or does not the President determine foreign policy?]

Those troops scattered all over the Middle East (AKA Western Asia) might feel tough and mighty, but in reality there aren't enough of them in any one place to do much of anything. I hate to tell them this, but they're "tripwires". Cynically deployed soldiers whose role is to be martyred.

In WWII, Republicans expressed the same conspiracy theory about FDR:

Pearl Harbor and the “Back Door to War” Theory

Was there a “back door” to World War II, as some revisionist historians have asserted? According to this view, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, inhibited by the American public’s opposition to direct U.S. involvement in the fighting and determined to save Great Britain from a Nazi victory in Europe, manipulated events in the Pacific in order to provoke a Japanese attack on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, thereby forcing the United States to enter the war on the side of Britain.

https://www.britannica.com/topic/Pearl-Harbor-and-the-Back-Door-to-War
-Theory-1688287

The short version of the encyclopedia article: Republicans were lying about FDR since they hated Democrats for Social Security and every other expensive part of FDR's New Deal. Funny how 83 years have passed, FDR is dead, and yet Republicans still are enraged by all government intervention in society. It must be the GOP's DNA being passed down through generations of new Republicans.

Biden Cleverly Distracts From Civil War By Starting World War

Quote:

WASHINGTON, D.C. — As tensions between the federal government and 25 red states over securing the border continued to stoke fears of another Civil War, President Biden cleverly distracted a concerned American public by announcing the start of a new World War.

"It's time to bomb Iran!" said the President to a bowl of melted ice cream on his nightstand. "Those whipper-snappers have been living on borrowed time ever since they chased me and the boys around the pool with switchblades. And if that doesn't do the trick, we'll bomb Russia and China as well. Not a joke!"

Many critics who overheard the conversation questioned the wisdom of such a move, but some in the Republican Party applauded the President's firm stance. "Did someone say 'bomb Iran?'" said Senator Lindsey Graham. "Ooooh baby, I usually wait until the third date for that kind of talk! Is it hot in here?"

ALONG THE SAME LINE, BUT FOR REAL

Quote:

'Moment Of No Return' Imminent As Biden Has 'Decided' On Response, Says Iran Supplied Weapons Used In Attacks

Tuesday, Jan 30, 2024 - 09:05 AM

A "decision" has been made, apparently, with CBS reporting: "Biden tells reporters that he has decided on how to respond to the attack that killed US troops in Jordan." And Sky News writes, 'Moment of no return approaching' as Biden weighs retaliation for soldier deaths.

Additionally, Biden said the White House sees Iran as responsible for supplying the weapons used in the drone strike on the Tower 22 base along the Jordan-Syria border [actually, most of area occupied by Americans is in Syria ... illegally. Only a few installations or just on the Jordan side, but Jordan didn't want anyone to know it was hosting USA troops*], an attack which also saw over 40 American troops injured.

Admin officials have repeatedly asserted they do not seek wider war with Iran, even while direct accusations fly against Tehran, and there's talk of military 'options' and warlike threats go over the airwaves.

...because "pressure," writes Bloomberg: "US President Joe Biden faces intensifying pressure to confront Iran directly after the country’s proxies killed three American soldiers in a drone strike in Jordan over the weekend, risking precisely the wider regional conflict that he’s trying to avoid."

"A person familiar with the US position, who asked not to be identified discussing private discussions, said it was clear that a strike — which also wounded at least 34 — would force a stronger response than what the US has done so far in the weeks," continues Bloomberg.

"Pressure" from WHO?
ISRAEL?
AIPAC?
STATE DEPT NEOCONS?
WAR-MONGERING CONGRESS OF BOTH PARTIES?

Oh, please, stop gaslighting us again! You've been angling for a war with Iran for 40 years.

This is just Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya all over again: More pointless war.
