I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.


This contains a head-spinning amount of detailed information about Chinese banks, local and regional capital-raising schemes, Belt and Road, what BlackRock and other USA investment firms want in China, the MO of USA financialism, etc.

It's a hard slog, especially for those not used to listening to such discussions and unfamiliar with the lingo. But it does contain answers to questions that I personally have had - especially about the role of unofficial lenders in China and how localities finance their operations and infrastructural projects and how they intend to resolve their indebtedness, especially since there's no national-to-local revenue-sharing.

ETA: The other question I had was whether China' Belt and Road simply create debt traps (like so many IMF/World Bank projects) and, if not, how do indebted nations pay off their debt to the Chinese? I know, for example, that the former PM of Malaysia, Mahathir (who is neutral to friendly to China) squashed any further Chinese infrastructural projects because the deepwater port never panned out/ didn't generate expected revenue to pay back the loan. Also, an Ethiopian former colleague of mine was quite critical about Chinese infrastructural projects in Africa, as they created only manual labor for Ethiopians; all of the higher-paid positions went to Chinese.

Michael Hudson is (IMHO) extremely pro-Chinese, so you have to filter this discussion for his POV



Also, Michael Hudson predicts that China will allow BlackRock and other "investment" (lending) firms to participate in the Chinese stock market and other financialized lending schemes, and will do this to forestall military friction (and a potential arms race) with the USA, but will put in controls to prevent the "pump-n-dump" speculative schemes that banks use to make money (pump) and acquire assets (dump) at firesale prices.
