If you told lifelong Dems in 2019 that by 2022 they'd become single-issue voters for the other side, they would've said you were nuts. They also would've said you were nuts if you told them that after 2019 their opinions would be considered "right wing"...

And yet, here we are! Did you question blue state covid policy? Poof! You're now a Republican. Wanted your kids in school? Welcome to the other side! Said Florida wasn't doing so bad and maybe we could lighten up a bit? Start putting up that DeSantis2024 yard sign!...

They called you an unhinged granny killer faster than you could say "let it rip." But even after they cast you aside & told you to grab your guns & flee the coast with your fellow Rush Limbaugh-loving comrades, you weren't ready to privatize healthcare & head to the ballots...

Even after they dragged your good name through the mud & gaslighted you till you couldn't tell the difference between science & reading tea leaves, you weren't ready to break out the MAGA cap. They'd broken your bleeding liberal heart, but they hadn't broken your woke spirit...

They said you'd changed, but you knew you were the same person with the same values. The world might be upside down, but you still knew your place, no matter how right-wing it was to say that kids were not filthy vectors of disease. So you tried reasoning with them...

You told them the kids weren't ok, they said kids are resilient. You told them WHO says no masks for 2 yr olds, they said their kids didn't complain. You told them schools in Europe were open, they said you wanted to kill teachers. You said test to stay, they said quarantine...

You said learning loss, they said banana bread. You said extreme mandates, they banned kids from chuck e cheese. You said safety theater, they said abundance of caution. You said small businesses were suffering, they said it's better to not eat a cheeseburger than to be dead...

You told them we were supposed to be the good guys, to care about civil liberties, education & children. You said you thought that's what you signed up for as a Dem. They said you were a covid denying conspiracy theorist and 800,000 people have died and it's a pandemic, stupid...

You said you abandoned our kids and stole their childhood. They said we're just getting started. You said you're moving to Florida and voting Republican no matter what, they said you were hysterical and turning your back on everything you once stood for to own the libs...

They pushed you into the arms of the enemy before the pajama class could say "we're all in this together." They took away everything, then said you were overreacting. They thought you'd get over it and forget. They were wrong.

Welcome to the politically homeless club, Elizabeth.

I have a feeling that one way or another a majority of us will find our way here.

I don't recognize anything in this opinion piece. Maybe bc my child is no longer in school, but this all seems foreign to me.

Maybe you should read it again.

I don't have any kids and I know exactly how she feels.

The statements mostly begin with "You said..." and then continue on about policies - such as masking in school - that I haven't given much (if any) thought to. Since most of it is about school-age children, I don't have coherent thoughts about any of it one way or another. The only thing I HAVE thought about is vaccine mandates for kids, which I think is ridiculous. If your child is particularly vulnerable- being treated for leukemia or has cystic fibrosis or Type I diabetes or has some other condition, then by all means, get him/her vaccinated. Otherwise, not.

I think you're subconsciously shutting your brain off to the deeper message and only looking at the superficial.

If you look at this piece without any lens pro or anti Covid, she's not saying anything different than what you've been talking about in your CBC "woke" thread.

Hence why I posted right after her article the following:

The Democrat's, the Blue States, and the Administration's approach to Covid and being outcast from her circle of friends for not falling lock-step with the Narrative was what forced her exit from the Democratic party (and one could assume her circle of friends, as well as her kid's circle of friends as well).

And it appears, at least until she wrote the final 3 word sentence of this post, she was resisting that with every ounce of energy she had.

I try not to have unthought-out opinions or reactions to anything. That's how people get bamboozled, yanno... by reacting with their feelz instead of their brains.

At one time, the alt right was all in favor of homeschooling bc public schools were just indoctrination centers. They were full of examples how homeschooling produced superior results. And I was sort of convinced. Until junior high (middle school) science and algebra I never learned anything that I hadn't learned at home, and since I was so shy I didn't really participate socially in school, altho in my neigborhood I had a lot of friends.

NOW they're in favor of packing their kids off to school?

Seems oppositional just for the sake of being oppostional, and I just can't track that change of opinion.

I understand NEEDING to send your kids to school bc you have a job to go to, but that's not what she's saying.

Who's "they"? Republicans? How many republicans do you know that homeschool their kids. In fact, how many people do you know who do that in general?

In my entire life I've only ever known one example.

And this woman isn't a Republican. Or at least she never was before.

She's a lifelong Democrat that wants her fucking kids in school and got ousted from her circle of Leftist friends for saying that her kids should be in fucking school.

YOU are the one being purposefully oppositional by not getting the point of this thread.

"They" are alt-right or the ultra-religious, not "republicans". I thought I made that clear from my very first sentence.

Well, forigive me, but I just don't grok her POV. She's an outraged democrat? I'm not. I guess I get her point, but I don't feel her feelz.

Are you going to punish me now for not feeling along with her?

I already told you not to look at it from a vaccine/mandate/covid standpoint. Are you purposefully being obtuse.

Her entire thread here is exactly what you were posting about in your "woke" thread, just about a different topic.

Why are you behaving like Kiki whenever Covid comes up and completely shutting your brain off?

I see it differently. She feels outraged and betrayed by her party about specific decisions. But it's like me reading about someone who feels betrayed by the Democrats because they banned chadors, or something. The specific policies about school-age children don't resonate with me personally, and I haven't thought about it enough to develop an opinion, whether the decisions were really harmful to children or not.

And frankly, when I was young I would have rather skipped school so for me, being made to stay out of school would have been a big plus. Our daughter was never a good fit for school either, she always did better with 1:1 and I always felt badly that we had to warehouse her bc I was working. There were only three teachers in 12 years of school that ever did her any good, and she didn't learn much socially, either.

My reaction has little to do with Covid and more to do with school in general. Plus, when the dems have outraged me on so many more important issues that it's hard to feel outrage anymore, her rant just seems rather trivial. So I'm glad she's seen the light, but I'm not going to get out my pitchfork and flambeau to join her. But by all means, feel free to join her if you want.

BTW, I'm not shutting my brain off. I understand what she's saying. You're just pissed off that I don't FEEL pissed off along with you (both). If I think about it, and do some reading, and learn that -yes, it's important for most kids to go to school and this has done some real damage, I will probably feel irritated on their behalf, but right now the most I can work up is ... "Oh, OK."

I'm not going to join her either. I already left the Left a long time ago. If anything, she's begrudgingly joining me.

Maybe now that her mind is a bit more open about the hive-mind circles she's been running around with up until now, she'll even realize that I'm not some Satan worshiping Nazi woman-hater too, just because I'm a white male who doesn't kneel at the altar of woke.

That was my whole point in posting this thread.

I don't have any kids. I also hated school and I thrive at being a loner. If I had my way back then I would have been thrilled to never have to go back. Although.... I honestly think that somebody in my house would have been murdered at some point if my family were to have been locked down for a year or more.

I don't "feel" much along with her on the subject since I can't relate to where she's coming from for her specific gripe here without any reference point.

There's zero doubt that America and most of the world has seriously fucked up an entire generation of kids because of the Covid response, but I don't have any kids and I honestly don't give a shit what happens to the human race after I'm gone.

But that doesn't take away from the fact that the Liberal Hive-Mind has turned on her for having her own opinion.

Diversity of everything except for Opinion. That's the Modern Democrat Mantra.

It's not diversity of opinion they are opposed to.

Far more basically, they oppose diversity of thought.

Not all who desire home schooling are allowed to partake - many Libtards still have Laws banning such.
Just because folk support everybody having the right and freedom of education does not mean they can overcome the obstacles themselves.

Well if you can't think for yourself, certainly, you can't form your own opinions.

I won't argue you there, although I don't draw much of a distinction between the two ways of phrasing it since in the end the result is the same.

This is all where that NPC meme came from.
