As short of a read as this is, I believe it is quite spoiler heavy and you should probably only read it if you've already watched Sinners or know you have no intention to.

As it stands now, I'm both glad and disappointed that I read this article. I know now that I do want to see this movie, but I'm disappointed that I won't be going into it without knowing anything about it.

This article is well worth a read, so decide if you want to see the movie or not and read the article when it's appropriate.

It sounds to me like maybe somebody figured out how to make one hell of a movie that has race inside of it but doesn't obsess over moralizing and preaching from a false platform and just tells a great story.

And there appears to be quite a bit of subversive messaging in there as well. Just not the Media-Approved narrative like we've seen in cinema the last 12 years.

And I'm not hearing anybody calling it woke or racist or complaining about it at all.

It just made more money on the 2nd weekend than it did on opening weekend, after all...

This seems like a good movie and it is making money and has legs, the only criticism I would say from the outside is for a horror the 'Budget' seems high, 100 million will eat into profits.

WB is also competing against itself with Minecraft released at the same time

as for the whole quota Diversity islamo LGBT open border thing, I think a lot of cinema has moved on, you can make a film with only Black people in the Caribbean, in the US South in Chicago, in Africa it can be a good film, you can make a film with only or mostly Whites and it can be a good film, you can make a film with Yellow Orientals and its another movie that can be good, you can make a Brown Bollywood film or a tanned brown Latino Latina drama and it can be good, you can make a film on Native Americans with Native actors and it can be good...why did they want to mix everything...it seems its moved on

Will this be one of those Iconic 'Black Films' the Tina Turner story What's Love Got to Do with It, Ray, pDon't Be a Menace to South Central, Boyz n the Hood, Car Wash, Harlem Nights, Bad Boyz, House Party, Beverly Hills Cop, Dead Presidents, Coming to America.... new Captain America...well maybe not that, let's forget about that one

Yeah. That budget was stupid on a horror movie. They're lucky they put out a good movie. I'm glad I wasn't paying much attention and didn't make a prediction on that one, because I totally would have gotten that wrong. Not because it was woke or anything... Just a horror movie with a stupid $90 Million budget.

They've hit practically $250 Million worldwide once Thursdays numbers come in tomorrow, so they're already well over the $225 Million they needed to break even, and they're still pulling in $3+ Million on a Wednesday.

They're going to pretty easily make $100 Million+ on this one, I would guess. You can't complain about those results.

But I think if Hollywood suits are good at anything they're great at seeing information like this and applying it somewhere it shouldn't be applied and wondering why they just lost a lot of money again. In this case, I think that having a $90 Million budget on a very successful horror movie is going to end up hurting them pretty badly because of what they're going to do next.

Yeah... but not really though. They're in competition as much as Joker would have been with whatever Minions movie came out around that time. I don't think most people going to one are very interested in seeing the other.

Sinners opened in theaters on April 18th. On May 29th, Sinners is on TV for free. Why would anybody pay to see this movie in theaters? Why drive there and back? Why subject yourself to advertisements before the movie starts? Why let the theater owner decide when the movie starts? Why pay ridiculous prices for popcorn?

This is the kind of movie that is improved by consuming large amounts of alcohol as the movie progresses. Can you sneak your preferred drinks into the theater? Better to watch this movie at home because driving drunk after leaving the theater is a bad idea.

My old man used to take me and my bros to the $1 theater every weekend to see a movie. We sneaked in drinks and snacks every time we went.

By the time I was 19, my buddies and I were sneaking in beers and drinking them during the movie.

No biggie.

And besides... you think the ushers really give a crap in 2025? Doubtful.

Was funny the one time one of my idiot friends brought glass bottles with him instead of cans. And instead of putting them in a bag or back in his pockets when he was done, he was just putting them down on the floor. The movie ended and he got up and kicked one over and you just heard it roll to the front of the theater from the back, and you heard that glass clank and bounce off every chair leg on the way down.

I said, let's get the F out of here before you idiots get me arrested.

Understandable.

But you better cut that budget if you want to make money. The success to a sequel will be quite muted compared to this one unless you make something really flipping fantastic. And having not seen the movie, have you even left yourself open for a sequel that would even make sense or that anybody would care to watch in the first place?

And don't ever go into it thinking you're ever going to replicate a 2nd weekend increase in gross sales like you did the first one because that was lightning in a bottle.

Make your sequel, but make it for $30 Million or less or expect to lose money. Big-budget horror movies tend to be huge money pits.
