The dialogue in quotes is the Mandarin stuff. Sorry if it looks weird, but I'm just typing what was displayed in my closed captioning window.

1) Men playing pool: "Whay!"

It's an expression like, "what the heck" or "hey!"

2) Atherton: (See you soon), "bao bay."

Not sure, but it sounds to me like "dear" or "precious."

3) Zoe: Too much "foofaraw."

Um, not sure if this was supposed to be Mandarin or not. O_o Any ideas?

[UPDATE: I just looked up the word in an English dictionary and it means frills and flashy fluff. ^_^ So never mind!]

4) Badger: Nose in the air like he never "wun gwo pee."

Errr... I'm stuck on this one.

5) Badger: ...... "pee-goo" ......

rear end

I don't remember the line verbatim, but he was asking Mal to do the smuggling job.

6) Inara: "Lao pung yo nee [missing a word] chi lai hun yo jing shen."

Old friend, you look really well (each time I see you?). Sorry I missed one of the words - my CC got messed up.

7) Atherton: ... flying piece of "go se"...

dog shit

8) Kaylee: "Sheh-sheh" cap'n.

thank you

9) Kaylee: "Shuh muh?"

what? (what did you say?)

10) Kaylee: "Tsai boo shr." The extenders ain't braced.

Not sure but maybe she meant, "That's not it." (She was talking shop with some old men in that scene.)

11) Mal: This "whoon dahn" duel .....

basically stupid or idiotic

------------------------------------------------
Hope that wasn't too confusing!

It's supposed to be wun gwa pee - nose in the air like he never "smelled a fart."

"wun gwo pee" literally means "smell dog fart". "Dog fart" usually means garbage or non-sense.

"Foofaraw" is an old, kind of hick English word. My granny used to use it. It means pretentiousness, basically. The lavish decorations and stuff that seem absolutely ridiculous to Zoe. (To me, too.)

2) Atherton: (See you soon), "bao bay."

* baobei = baby

10) Kaylee: "Tsai boo shr." The extenders ain't braced.

Not sure but maybe she meant, "That's not it." (She was talking shop with some old men in that scene.)

* cai bu shi = more like "yeah right!"

YINGHUOCHONG

I agree with the first translation of this phrase, because the words are "spelled" in a way to ease pronounciation, so "gwo" is different from "go". Besides that, the first translation of "gwo" makes the entire sentence sound more grammatically correct.

official pingying for that (if you care): wun guo pi (smelled - past - fart, "smelled fart before")
