I count "Pretender" as my first obsession, and to this day I find myself saying of certain female characters 'She doesn't have anything on Miss Parker'. I've been waiting /years/ for news of this... so I had to share with as many people as possible!

Any other Pretender fans out there? If so, March 22 is our day!

For those who aren't familiar, the story follows Jarod, a protege known as a 'Pretender' who is incrediably smart (I can be anything I want to be) and has spent most of his life the prisoner of 'The Centre', an organization that's spent time poking at prodding at his brain.

In pursuit of Jarod is Miss Parker, a young woman with complicated ties to both The Centre and Jarod. Joining her is Sydney, who all but raised Jarod, and Broots, the computer genius of the group.

Every episode is a fun discovery as Jarod is introduced to new things in the 'real world,' as he 'pretends' his way into new jobs, and unravels the mysteries of injustices done to others. In the meantime, he's searching for information about his past, his family, and his identity, and his relationship to The Centre and the people he left behind becomes more and more complicated...

I'd highly suggest checking it out, if you never got to see it. Of course, part of that is me being selfish - enough people need to be season one that they release the rest of the seasons ASAP!

Hey Scify are showing this in the UK at mo - I only catch some of it so I'm confused. I dont think theyre showing it in order..............but it's kinda quirky.

Haven't watched it from the start but it feels kind of like The Fugitive. Jarod's eyebrows scare me too :(

Edit: Wow, there are 4 seasons - I assumed there was only 1 and didn't really follow the show for obvious reasons. I'll have to have a look now... :)

Yeah, if you watch it out of order, you'll be mystified. It's one of those shows that starts with mostly stand alones and develops a mythology and history that gets complicated and twisted as it goes. Even watching it properly, you're never really certain what relationships are real and what truths are the 'truth', because so many people have been lied to and manipulated along the way...

It definitely grows on you a lot. It's got a lot of heart to it - and the absolutely best written strong, conflicted, cold, angry, fabulous female character in all of fiction. Ever. I have some serious Miss Parker love.

You know, for once it came out in France first. Lots of fans here. We had the four seasons and the 2 tv-movies released in 2004. Apparently a lot of people bought the DVDs. I hope it helps to get the DVDs out in other countries. Are you from UK or US?

I'm a Pretender fan from the first episode. When I watched the DVDs I realised I had seen most the episodes. I hadn't watched any Pretender in 5 years at least, so it was good.

I'm a US fan - If I had a regionless DVD player, actually, I would have bought the DVDs in France ages ago. I've been eyeing them for a few years now, and every so often a friend and I grumble about France getting them and Fox replying to our emails with 'we have no plans to release Pretender on DVD at this time'.

And then Profiler came out (it used to run just after Pretender - even did a few crossover episodes) and our hopes were renewed.

It was a joyous day to see an announcement of DVDs!

OOOHHH!!!! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!!! *grabs Aerrin in a huge hug* I LOVE Pretender. I have at least half the episodes taped, taking up so many VHS tapes, its sad. plus, they are all out of order, some are missing and most I taped in Holland so I can't even watch them on my american TV stuff.

THIS IS GREAT!

ok, for all you people who don't know Pretender... WATCH IT!! It's right up there with Firefly. I think Firefly is better written as far as the dialogue goes, but Pretender has a great plot and very intricate characters. Can't say enough about it.

As for Jarod: yum! (except for his long hair in the movies, which were a little disappointing)

Miss Parker: she's great

ok... guess that covers it. THANKS AGAIN! *races off to mark her calender*

PS: the pic of Jarod on the DVD cover doesn't do him justice

Sometimes life takes us where we weren't expecting to go...
