Check out www.metaphilm.com. The site is composed of essays that talk about the deeper meaning of certain films through comparisons. For example, Tyler Durden and Jack of Fight Club are compared to Calvin & Hobbes and, man, the parallels are fascinating. "The Dude" from The Big Lebowski is Buddha incarnate, etc.
I'd explain it better, but I just came off a long bartending shift and I'm wiped out. :) Enjoy!
