Are the guns River holds in War Stories and Objects in Space the same gun or not?

Yes. It is pretty obvious that that is the same gun. I think Jayne must have given the gun to Kaylee and when the fighting broke out River took it from her. River never gave it back at the end of War Stories and in fact we never saw what she did with it at the end. Now we know that she had it the whole time after War Stories and up until Objects in Space.

I don't see how you can say that. I realize we are looking at different sides of the guns in the two shots, but the shape and features on each side of the barrel are not the same, and from the way I see it, the trigger guards are slightly different as well. I'm not an expert on guns by any means, never owned one and never will, but I am hoping someone else who does know a bit more will offer and opinion. On a previous discussion thread someone else said they are not the same gun, but can't remember who that was.

No they are not the same. I think the 1st one is a Desert Eagle the other is a .45. (I could be mistaken on that last one since I’m not extremely knowledgeable on firearms.)

Notice how the one from OiS has two sights one on the front one on the back while the one from WS does not, also the OiS one has the distinctive upwards triangular design of the Desert Eagle series.

Not the same weapon. In addition to the 'triangle nose', look at the the slides of the pistols. One is indented and the other is more rectilinear.

Yes, I realize that you see two different sides to the weapon(s).

In my defense I will say this - a .44 Desert Eagle has the indents on both sides.

first gun is a standard .45 auto longslide, second is an American Arms gun, probably .44 Desert Eagle. The triangular shape of the Eagle's slide is clear in the shot. The flatness of the .45 isn't so clear.

STATIC


They're not the same gun. In OiS, the pistol is a Desert Eagle. It looks to be a .44 Magnum or a .50 cal.

The pistol in War Stories looks like a Colt .45, M-1911 with an extended barrel.

MACBAKER


The gun in the bottom pic is a Desert Eagle. No Doubt about it.

The pistol in the top pic is NOT a 1911 model 45. The frame looks like a Beretta (note the shape of the trigger guard) or more likely a Taurus clone. The Beretta and Taurus share the same overall frame shape, but the Taurus has the safety mounted on the frame (like the gun in the pic), where Beretta mounts the safety on the slide. The slide doesn't look like a Beretta or a Taurus slide, but it is probably a custom slide fitted to the Taurus frame.

WERZBOWSKI


The gun from "War Stories" is a Firestar Megastar, in .45acp, with an add-on compensator.

The gun from "Objects In Space" is a Magnum Research Desert Eagle. The top of the barrel is smooth, if I recall, and that would indicate either .357 or .44 magnum as the caliber.

The top gun is a .45 longslide. The position of the control mechanisms (mag release, safety, de-cock lever) is identical to pictures you can find if you google ".45 longsile" images. But the cincher is the position of the screw on the hand grip. The Megastar doesn't have a screw there, so it can't be that. We've established that the bottom weapon is a Desert Eagle, but the Eagle doesn't have a screw there either. But the .45 Longslide does. Even the trigger type (solid, versus free) on the top weapon indicates that it is .45 longslide and rules out both Megastar and Desert Eagle.

DARKEYES


The first gun looks like it's from the S&W 4500 series to me. I agree that the gun in the bottom pic is most certainly a Desert Eagle.

The Jayne of Command
This morning while visiting amazon.com I noticed one of their featured books was "Chain of Command" by Seymour Hersch. I suggested to my son (MOHRSTOUTBEARD) that he do a little of his Photoshop magic on the image, and this is what he came up with.

Here is the cover image for the dvd that my son (MOHRSTOUTBEARD) created from his ComicCon footage. I realize this is a large image (300 pixels/inch resolution) but I will post a smaller version shortly. After all of his many problems with various softwares he finally completed the dvd a few weeks ago and sent me a copy. Now I am in the process of making copies myself for others who may be interested. DigsJayne from the OB and Rowane from the 'Versal Board (who is in my local meetup group) are the only ones to receive copies so far. If interested, email me at ecgordon@templetongate.com.
