Well I have just found the movie that’s going to blow everyone away. I mean there is no way Serenity could hold a candle to it, heck no movie has ever look so badass. I mean how could Serenity become a big hit when Hollywood just keeps pumping out greats like this.

So without any more delay here it is

SNAKES ON A PLANE

I've heard of this from a friend of mine. She's really obsessed with horror movies. The chessier the better. Apparently that was a "working title", they wanted to change it, and Sam said they could change it or he wouldn't continue, or some such. Haven't seen anything about it. Slither first though. Aye Captain.

I think there's a place for movies which (obviously) don't take themselves too seriously. And Mr L. Jackson did pretty well in a similar sort of movie, Deep Blue Sea.

Could be genuinely terrible, could be fun in a Deep Rising sort of way.

Ok, I got that you were kiding about the whole better than Serenity thing. That was fairly obviously a joke. I was questioning the existence of the snakes/plane movie thing. And you know what I still think it's a joke. Even if some movie company made this with the intent of actually releasing this as a motion picture it's still a joke. A really stupid joke but still a joke.

This movie will kick serious ass. It features Sammy L. headbutting snakes, Solid Snake (y'know, from Metal Gear Solid) as an assassin wielding a cobra sword and most importantly, SNAKES ON A MOTHER****ING PLANE. It'll sweep the Oscars next year, you'll see.

I love Sam Jackson but why would he do a piece of crap like SNAKES ON A FRIKKIN PLANE? The guy's rich so he doesn't have to do bad films anymore. I think he's a work-a-holic and just takes any project that comes his way even if it'll soil his reputation as a bad-ass motherf**ker.

Because he fell for the name. That's a true story. This is a cult classic in the making and who doesn't like those? It will solidify his reputation, not tarnish it.

Perhaps. I know that if Fox had mailed me a letter back in the day telling me they were putting on a show for all of the people who had stopped watching television because it was utterly moronic I'd've tuned in. As it is I had to discover the series on my own years later.

I heard about it some months ago as well as if the title was changed, Sam would be out.

I've never laughed so hard during the trailer.

So umm yea, I think Serenity's in trouble. But at least we can take it seriously...Poor snakes on a plane...they meant to be serious, but it's just an Evil Dead scenerio (it was initially meant to be taken seriously and failed as many of you know).

Tangentially... would that have been a good thing? I guess if more people had seen the thing on the air, we might be in the middle of, what, season 4?
But on the other hand, I'm Aussie, so I saw the DVD before we had a chance for it to be aired here, and I'm personally glad I saw the episodes in order, without the stress of 'when is it going to be on this week?'

Since we seem to be slightly bashing the entertainment industry - what's out there that does qualify as 'intelligent' viewing, in our humble opinions? (Well take Whedonverse for granted.)

My Name is Earl has the smart going on and most PBS shows don't go out of their way to insult my intelligence. I've been enjoying In Justice for the way it inverts the Law & Order formula. One of my local independent stations has been on a clasic TV kick lately so I'm getting to see Barney Miller again. That may be it though.

Grrr... we Aussies never get any decent American TV until way after it's done in the US! Firefly being a case in point - we didn't get it at all til 2 years later.
I'm a huge fan of Scrubs, personally. I kind of like House but I don't think it's terrifically intelligent TV, I mostly enjoy picking holes in the medical bits.

True... actually, the sad thing is that we Aussies don't get heaps of Australian TV either. Part of the problem with Australian TV is that the budgets for the shows are always very very low - like, 10% of what Buffy's was when they started and no one knew who they were. Also, because of lack of international exposure, they aren't real famous, so there's less international peer pressure to watch. We copied your American Idol and America's next top model, though... yay for us.

That said... grrr, I was about to recommend an aussie TV show and I've temporarily forgotten the name of it (a couple of years old, now)...

Irony abounds.

i can't help but wonder, IS THIS A JOKE??? Samuel L. Jackson sure has sure gone downhill with this crap.

I just can't understand how major hollywood studios put out utter shite like this, and amazing independent films are passed over. Most big-budget hollywood films nowadays are terrible, and the only reason I go to SOME of them is because there are hardly any small indie theatres here (which are more expensive as well). The best films this year have all been indie's, and at least more notice is being payed to them.

It's so difficult for indie directors to get noticed now, it's pathetic. Nobody will accept my own script because it's been deemed "too political and possibly offensive to some". So myself and my friends are making it ourselves with money out of our own pockets.

Screw you Hollywood!!!
