Would you prefer they bought a 300 calorie regular Coke??

What would always crack me up is someone buying a $3.50 Reduced carb high protien bar and washing it down with a 64 oz barrel of regular MTN Dew.
It was an attempt at eating healthy that was derailed by an 1000 Calorie Beverage.

HAH! I laugh at your puny Britney Spears and Celine Dion!

We have Jade Goody! Beat that!!!

Dubya don't count!!!

I cunningly add Jordan to the UK list. She is currently on her 2nd autobiography.

I then add all the people that bought her first autobiography because the bookstore I worked in sold 3000 in a week. It was everywhere.

Actually conversation

Customer: Oy, you got that Jordan book?(loudly and rudely from the other side of the store)
Me: (Finishes serving current customer. Smiles politely) The autobiography?
Customer: What?
Me: Do you mean, the book that she has written?
C: Yeah. That one.
Me:You're currently leaning on a stack of them.
C: Oh. How much is it. (There is a big price sticker on the front of the book...unmissable)
Me: It's normally £18 but it's currently half price.
C: How much is that?
Me: £9.
C: Will it be that much next week?
Me: No, that's the 'special offer of the week' price.
C:So just this week?
Me: Yes

Customer then walks over to till and says I'll take one of those then. I have to go back across the store to fetch the book from the pile they were leaning on.

Arrggghhhh.

Multiply this for about 50% of the customers who bought this book. I was very nearly driven insane.

I have a bicycle, but people in cars seem to hate bicycles... they would cut me off, honk at me, flip the finger and just generally make me believe that my life was in danger.

By the way, the fatties in this country need to buy a treadmill because their life really is in danger.

I personally have a gripe about people on bicycles. My problem arrives when I'm driving around Atlanta on the curvy roads around here (FYI most Atlanta roads appear to have been started as cow paths or something, there's hardly a square block anywhere in the metropolitan area) and as I come around the corner I find a group of cyclists side by side taking up an entire lane of a two lane road. Are they asking to get killed? Do they care that chances are if you try to drive around them you'll end up in a head-on collision with another car?

I would understand if they rode in single file staying off to the side or at least moved into single file when they realize they're blocking traffic. Unfortunately, most of the time no, they keep blocking the entire lane.

The worst part is, Atlanta is actually setting up more and more bike lanes and bike paths which you would think would be the best place for riders, but no. I can't tell you how many times I've had to avoid a cyclist riding on the road, when right next to them is a cycling lane or cycling path. I just don't get it.

I feel my cynicism well up everytime I see one of those "Share the Road" stickers on someone's bumper. It needs to go both ways.

End of rant.

All that said, I'm all for being in shape, and the people I have gripes with are rarely people trying to get somewhere, they're people out for exercise I guess. It is a fear of mine that one day I'll be involved in an accident that I can't avoid with a rider. I think many riders also forget, most accidents with cars happen because they didn't see the bike. People tend to gear their vision to other cars and don't notice bikes. Its to the rider's benefit to be cautious and defensive when riding, just like people walking around cars.

It seems to be us, bikers, way of saying "if you were bicycling you wouldn't be blocked..." ...then again, I hate the arrogant bikers too, even though I'm one of them.

Are we all stupid? Of course, not, but we all do have our moments. For example...

I was giving a review session for a final exam. The exchange went something like this:

Me: Any other questions about the final?
Student A: What's the format?
Me: Mutiple choice and short answer.
Student A: What kind of multiple choice?
Me: I'm sorry?
Student A: What kind of multiple choice questions are they?
Me: stunned silence...
Student A: Are there answers to choose from?
Me: Yes. The multiple choice questions are ones where there is a statement of some sort followed by a series of five answers, one of which is the correct one. Your task is to try and discern which of the multiple answers is the correct one. Would it be easier if I called them Many Option questions?

Much anger. However, despite my constant run-ins with people like her, I assume that I have my moments also. We bought a brand new home last summer. We had a cabinet door that was hanging crooked. The builder stopped by to make sure that everything was OK and I mentioned it to him. He looked at me strangely, but I blew it off. Finally after pestering him about it for nine months, I told my wife that I was going to fix it myself. When I examined it closely, I realized that it was just a loose screw. I fixed it in three seconds. I'm sure that guy is posting about me on a similar thread somewhere.

I don't know. I guess maybe I just cling to the belief that for every stupid person out there, there are 10 normal ones, and maybe 5 really smart ones.

I certainly have had my share of stupidity thrown at me, but I have also experienced plenty of people who were smart, fair and kind.

I once worked a retail job at a Fred Meyer in Fairbanks, Alaska. One night near close, I was straightening the aisle near our toy department. I did not notice that a lady had moved in behind me, and that I was in her way. She became quite beligerent about it, and I apologized maybe 5 times to her, and she didn't let up. Finally, another customer that was further down the aisle said to her, "Lady, maybe you'd get some better service if you weren't such a f*****g b***h!".

My faith in the human race was restored instantly.

The good ones are out there, you just have to see past the bad ones.

QUEENOFTHENORTH

Let's just say that there are a lot of stupid, ignorant, rude people in all of our countries. Here's a few examples I've come across:

1. A woman who expected ME to tell her how much gas SHE had personally put into her car at the self-serve gas pump on our busiest day of the year. She then flipped out on me because I didn't know, screaming about terrible customer service.

2. The Native woman who demanded if I was prejudiced because I asked if she wanted a bag to carry her things in.

3. The guy who bought ten packs of cigarettes to go with his container of veggies and bottled water. (Eat healthy, smoke your lungs out?)

4. The woman who came into the vet clinic I was working at, demanding that we euthanize her perfectly healthy, young, adorable, well-behaved dog because it was too much effort to take care of it. She also wouldn't let us find an alternate home for it.

5. The numerous people who used to come into the Subway I worked at at five minutes before closing, wanting to stay in to eat.

And I know there's more, I just can't think of them right now.

"I'm having one of those things - a headache with pictures."

"Of course I'm right. And if I'm not, may we all be horribly crushed from above somehow."

I think stupidity is learned at home. I can't tell you the amount of times I've seen folks haul their toddlers by the hand out into traffic with out looking. This is on roads, not jusy in parking lots.

Hummers should only be used if you live in B-F Nowhere or are trying to occupy a third-world nation.

Stupid is everywhere. It consumes all available resources, it multiplies and exspands into new territories in turn consuming all resources there and continuing to exspand and multiply.

I am not surprised by your student's essay, just monumentally depressed ...

I'm a lawyer in the UK and continually get looked at funny by other lawyers when I use words over 2 syllables which they apparently do not understand - and these are supposed to be educated people - and what's worse? I'm supposed to feel guilty for using elitist and discriminatory vocabulary... Grr!

Ohhh! I so do! Where can I find one of those?

Will it also tell me how not to want to destroy pople who think it's insensitive of me to refer to history/politics and other things they know not of because "I've had a good education" and, presumably, they haven't. Never mind that my so called education consists of reading things, paying attention and interacting with the world ...

See! It makes me pretty mad! Will there be refreshments and calming drugs provided?

Generally, a lot of booze is served for the purpose of letting the attendees know what it's like to be stupid.
After the group is suitably plastered, the debates begin, and two-syllable words are mis-pronounced, if used at all.
One comes away with a new appreciation of the truly moronic, as WE can rise above it simply by not being drunk; they live it their whole lives, poor sods.

I just don't think I can do it - I don't think it will help - It is only the restraining effect of sobriety which prevents my inner pedant from revealing its repugnant form to the light of day - give me a few drinks and I'll be maliciously and egregiously correcting people’s pronunciation left, right and centre!!

You clearly have not a sympathetic bone in your body where it concerns those poor, sad, brazenly stupid, loathesome, foul, idiotic, sub-100 IQers that force feed the few intelligent ones with daily loads of their half-wit crap, and expect not to be killed for it.

Okay....maybe my bones aren't very sympathetic either....

Zoot: for some reason, the words "Client Dummy talk" just popped into my head.

Try channelling Kaylee. If nothing else, it'll count as a Firefly Moment(tm).

The problem is when I try channelling FF characters, much to my consternation, I always seem to channel Simon!! Everyone else is a big box dropping man-ape-gone-wrong-thing …
