You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

I'm bored. I am so bored. Bored, bored, bored.
I am at work. Have been all night. I have run out of useful things to do, even mostly run out of unuseful things to do. Ten hours is a long shift when the phones aren't ringing. No one having emergencies this weekend, I guess. Everyone's out of town being drunk and stupid, so they're having emergencies out of town. Either that or the lines are down again.
I have no idea why I'm posting this, I just need something to do.

And mine is an evil laugh!

I too am very bored. I've come home for lunch because the snakes are hiding (it's too cold today) and should be spending the next hour working but am feeling very unmotivated!

Oh good! We can be unmotivated together!

So tell me, what are two gorgeous, exciting, intelligent ladies such as ourselves doing having so many dull moments in our lives? Doesn't seem right.

Hello bored people!

May I be one of you? I am currently the only one in my corridor at the uni hall of residence. Everyone else has gone home since they all live about 1/2 an hour away and own cars.

It's freakishly quiet and I can't really go anywhere because of the bank holiday and the fact that everyone I know is somewhere that's else.

I may just go and take a really long shower since it's unlikely I'll get yelled at for using all the hot water.

Have fun! We had uni-sex shower rooms at my Uni. Most offputting!

I'll have to have a nice hot shower tonight as I hope to be pooed on my many a snake this afternoon (it's their way of showing affection!)
Wish me luck folks! So far over the last 8 months I've spotted 17. I need at least 30 to do proper statistics.

But sorry, you were complaining about being bored and me rabbiting on about my dissertation won't help matters!

Of course you can be one of us! If you're bored, I mean, you really already are one of the bored people.
Man, I can't wait to get home and take a hot shower.

See... It's the ultimate, I'm bored, relaxation technique.

I love it when there's no queue for the bathroom. At home there's always a queue, you have to announce your intention to take a shower about 6 hours in advance and then barter for bathroom time. Also whenever the pressure is low the shower switches to cold with no warning. Usually just when you put the shampoo on your head.

So PhoenixRose... What aren't you doing?

Crap! Summer!

That sounds like a very un-fun shower. I am fortunate enough to live in a house with four bathrooms, so there's no waiting. Also, we have some new-fangled heat on demand water heating system that basically means the hot water never runs out which is the shiniest of shiny. Of course, if I stay in there as long as I want, I run the bill up

As for what I'm not doing... Anything useful, really. My mind is spinning with unpleasant thoughts as to why I'm alone so much of the time, and I really truly and literally have nothing better to do than watch the board for responses. I'm not supposed to leave my desk for long amounts of time, and it wouldn't make a difference if I did because I certainly can't leave the building for another 20 minutes or so, and the rest of it is just like my desk, only without internet. It's an easy job, but damn is it boring sometimes!
So what aren't you doing?

I feel your boredom.

It's times like these that I wish I was part-cyborg so I could shut off my circuts and go into sleep mode. Or maybe close my eyes and have little screens that either played Firefly episodes or video games.

That's the million dollar question.... There's nothing i'm supposed to be doing which is a highly unnatural state for me. The things on my to-do-list all require places to be open on a bank holiday and for me to have transport... not things that are happening any time soon.

Technically I can go home for the summer soon but according to my siblings, home is not a place I want to be right now. At least, not until I can sort my summer job so I'm not hanging around the house.

In the words of my brother...

"Leave it as long as you can before you come home. Once you get back you'll be seeing an awful lot of your room, it's the only place that's calm."

Not exactly a ringing endorsement. So yeah, I'm here and bored because the alternative is apparently much worse.

can I join in the sit?

Today is the first day for weeks i've had nothing to do.

I got invited to go ice skating, and can't go 'cause i'm poor. I was expecting a phone call asking for help with sewing stuff from a friend, and haven't had it, so nothing to do.

Theres isn't even anything iwant to see in the cinema which I could use my free ticket on. I can't even do laundry cause the weather is crap (dryer is on the blink)

I almost want to go into work. But hey, this place is more interesting.

So, a round of tiddlywinks any one?

So, of course, I shall attempt a positive spin on the boredom that inevitably strays in to the life of the dark shift employee.

See, I choose to view the stultifying ennui as excellent practice for the 20 hour drive I'm to make in September. Long hours remaining relatively motionless whilst seated in this chair will toughen the posterior and tone down the brain activity. A little catch-up boredom in, say, late August, and I'll be all set!

Or, we could have a Boredom Olympics....

What kind of events would be in the Boredom Olympics?

Events? A song lyric comes to mind: "Playing solitaire 'til dawn / with a deck of 51".

I think that my all time favourite boredom was failing to remain awake through a Catholic wedding, seated with the groom's family.

Commentator #1: Hello and welcome to the World Staring Championships 2006 here at the staring stadium in Frankfurt Germany.

Commentator #2: Yes it's a beautiful day here at the world headquarters and historic home of the sport.

Commentator #1: We're all set for an exciting match today between defending world champion German Himlich von Stareoften and Russian challenger Vladamir Stareoffski.

Commentator #2: Let’s not forget the match where von Stareoften received his title.

Commentator #1: Against ex-champion the Italian Mussolini Starealoni? It all seemed to be over until von Stareoften pulled a genius of a feint leaving Starealoni stunned and disoriented.

Commentator #2: Then it was just all a matter of time until he blinked, a genius move on a par with the mesmo stare of the legendary undefeated champion Starewon Yung-Woo back in 1938.

Commentator #1: We shouldn’t discount Stareoffski though. He has literally come from nowhere and taken on all comers to be here today.

Commentator #2: True his match against fellow countryman Starenotski was one of the shortest in history, he was merciless the way he battered his opponent into submission.

Commentator #1: Ahh here they are entering the play arena, the atmosphere is electric.

Commentator #2: Many of the 50,000 strong spectators will have had to wait all night for these tickets, for each one here there’s so many that were disappointed.

Commentator #1: The stareletes are taking their positions, we’re just waiting for the blinds to drop now, doesn’t Stareoffski look relaxed here, amazing considering the proven calibre of his opponent.

Commentator #2: A very cool customary Russian that Stareoffski…

Commentator #1: And the blind has dropped and we are defiantly in for an amazing match today!

Commentator #2: Straight away Stareoffski came out with a devilish attack, straight in on the offensive!

Commentator #1: Amazingly von Stareoften seems completely unaffected, just take a look at this live feed…

*wanders in*

Can I be bored too?

Current status: sitting at mom's computer, in stifling heat (it's raining out, so we can't open the windows, and our air conditioner is still in the closet), scanning and copying survey data.

Today was my last day of paid work, but I still have to turn up tomorrow (and probably Friday, and next week) to finish all the things we haven't had time to do the past week (what with doing three projects at once whilst dying from heat stroke in our un-air-conditioned office).

UPDATE: Scanning/collating's done. Now I just have to upload some pictures, draft a press release, and send both to the local newspaper.

Bored, too. Think we're going to have a thunderstorm later - the heat is bringing the weirdos out. It's also pension day around here, so it looks like 'Day of the Dead' or something. A shuffling grey tide. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to shoot 'em. We have to be polite, even when they spend ten minutes deciding which of three identical hams to take one slice of. I hate old people.

And kids. Especially sticky ones that lick the glass cabinet I've just cleaned. Maybe I'll be a littel less careful about wiping the detergent off next time. Looks like the Turin shroud meets roadkill from the other side. Nice.

Plus side - no drunken oik football fans yet. They are so much fun...Not.

Can't even post anything in Blue Sun, since this is my boss's computer.

Eeeewwwwwwwwww, yeah, that sounds like no fun. At least if someone really pisses me off I can hang up on them.

I just got a call from an old woman who didn't... know... her address!!! and expected me to send someone out there to fix something or other. I'm like, "Hey, if I don't have an address, how do you expect them to know where to go?" She got all snippy and said they should know where it is.
Yeah, I hate old people too. At least not many kids call. Although there are some thirtysomethings that are just as dumb.
