Well I like Shaw. It's now 47 on the queue.

That one also made an appearance in Babylon 5, as sung by drunken-Garibaldi.

So I guess Garibaldi has seen Jaws too.

Oh, by the way, it is Sherman Potter as played by Harry Morgan. Though a Harry Potter/M*A*S*H crossover might be interesting. I get visions of Hawkeye and Trapper guzzling martinis while making book on a fixed quiditch match and then buzzing the nurses tent with broomsticks later.

you're right. Sherman T. Potter. Harry was the other col. before Potter. My mistake.
Other things on my mind lately has my brain all confuzzled. or rather... focused.

I feel kind of bad pointing out that it was actually Henry Blake. So i'll leave you with my favorite line from the movie spoken by Duke (a character that didn't make it into the series) "Fair's fair Henry, if I bang Hotlips and punch Hawkeye can I go home."

Well as mention Sherman Potter was played by Harry Morgan which might be where your getting crossed up or you could be thinking of a certain boy wizard that's been somewhat famous of late. Hard to say exactly.

Serenity, how is yours coming along?

My experiments with the DPR sleeve smocking were not as successful as I would have liked...I may end up having to "fake" that part of the sleeve.

Sorry. Smocking is hard.

I wonder if maybe you could do something like what I'm doing on the sleeves of Mai's shirt, which is just to sew bias strips underneath and run elastic through them, to gather them at the elbows and wrists. Only, you could just run a couple rows of really thin elastic so that it gathers in more than one place. Dunno, just a random idea.

I haven't started my costume yet, apart from cutting out the skirt pieces. I'm going to finish Mai's first, so I can mail it to her, and then do mine. Mine will actually be less complicated than hers, since Seryn is making my corset.

The realization that smocking was hard hit me again right after I tangled all the threaded needles together...the christening gowns were a lot easier than this!
Thanks for the idea! My brain was trying to tell me another way to do it, but your way sounds a bit better!

Wow...you'll have a multi-national pirate costume. Shiny!

Yes, I do!
There is actually another technique requiring heavy thread or fishing line zig-zagged in a crosscheck pattern and then drawn together to create a diamond bunch-type pattern, but I can't remember the name of it...your idea sounds a bit easier!

I remember that one! I'll go look it up, see if any of my books have the technique in, but Serenity's idea sounds much better. Easy peasy, and no breaking threads to ruin the effect.

If you get knicker elastic (the round string stuff, not the stripp stuff) and just zig zag stich over it whilst stretching it out its even quicker.
