DESKTOPHIPPIE

I don't know about anyone else here, but I have a huge problem trying to figure out what gender other posters are. I mean, sometimes it's pretty obvious from the posting names or the posts themselves, but other times it's not quite so clear.

It might just be me - my time here is limited, so I don't get to post very much and remember who everyone is. Still, I thought it might be useful to have a thread where everyone can declare their gender once and for all. Then other posters can check it out if they're not sure instead of trying to figure out how to reply to someone without using any personal pronouns.

So I'll start this off. DesktopHippie is FEMALE

Your turn!

Yeah, I have a habit of going for cheeky titles for threads that occasionally put people off. Like my thread about Chinese Star Signs - "Nathan Fillion is a Pig!"

Well... He is! A metal pig! And Alan is too! Actually, I should have resurrected that one for the Chinese new year...

Maybe I should modify this one so people will actually respond. *wanders off to modify title*

For those who haven't seen my, I'm gonna go with hundreds of pictures here, I am female

You know, it always confuses me the absolute most when a woman uses a male avatar or vice-versa. I understand if it's a favorite character, but it spins me about a little. I've got male avatars all made up, but I don't tend to use them much or for very long...

I'm thinkin' anybody who knows me already knows the answer to this. If nothin' else, I'm guessin the pic gives it all away. My brother says the pic is huge and annoying and I said, "Well, that's me. Huge and annoying."

Just kidding, I'm actually extremely average and annoying

Anyways.... after taking the "Which Serenity Character are you?" test, I'm reconsidering my genderality.......

Quote:

River (Stowaway) 80%
Zoe Washburne (Second-in-command) 70%
Kaylee Frye (Ship Mechanic) 70%
Dr. Simon Tam (Ship Medic) 70%
Derrial Book (Shepherd) 70%
Malcolm Reynolds (Captain) 65%
Jayne Cobb (Mercenary) 55%
Wash (Ship Pilot) 35%
Inara Serra (Companion) 35%
A Reaver (Cannibal) 35%
Alliance 30%

As a footnote, I'd like to say that the top three results of this test have pointed out to me that I've always been a woman in man flesh and I will be looking into getting a sex-change now. I guess I'll have to email Tristan for a Zoe vest and other feminine garments, post-op.

SUPERFLUOUS

Well my sex is neither here or there…
Well it is here… and it’s defiantly there… ‘All’ there, thank you very much.
In case it’s not obvious to one and all… I am a male.

Better yet, I’m a two foot tall midget with only one arm, covered in tattoos and scares (from the tragic ‘scissor, paper, rock’ fiasco of 87), I’m harrier than a bear: ‘Thing’, with a limp and a severe case of terrets syndrome.
In retrospect, I could be anyone really.

But I am a male. I’m pretty sure about that point in particular.

And at the end of the day; does it really matter, either way? Its not like people are going to other people out for a drink. There’s the whole (your on the other side of the planet) problem that most folk tend to face.
(I’m playing Devils Advocate BTW).

Hey, just for people who want to use the actual symbol thingies for male and female, they're Alt+11 (male) and Alt+12 (female). They're really small, so it'd be best if you made the font bigger using (font size="4")(/font), except with < > instead (size 4 is the smallest size they look good with).

For example, if you'd rather just "reply with quote" and change it to your needs:

for me, or for the guys.

Just thought that was neat... so, yeah.

Edited to make them bold (which apparently doesn't work).

Okay, I'll try.

To make those symbols appear, one holds down the Alt button (usually next to the spacebar on either side) while typing (in your case) the number eleven (11). It's like holding Shift down to type a colon (:), capitalize letters, or enclose things with parenthesis.

I also have all the other Alt commands I know of here, if anyone's interested:

Yeah, but you have to have a number eleven key on your keyboard.

Actually, it won’t work for everyone. The most general way of accessing the extended character set is by copying and pasting from Word or some other word processor. In word you type “2642” and follow that by ALT + X for ♂ and “2640” for ♀.
