There's simply no possible way to filter out all content that any random person might find offensive. Ultimately, this site offers an unusual policy on free speech, one which strongly attracts anyone who remains... Who isn't torn to shreds first.

I stopped posting on vampire threads after that... The environment can be hostile, and I suppose there's no justification for that. People are forced to swim or leave.

The vast majority have chosen to leave. I know people will blame it on the show finishing or the movie flopping but I'm a Doctor Who fan - I've been on fan sites for a show that appeared precisely once in 16 years, sites that were active, vibrant, friendly, informative and more. FFF has effectively turned into a ghost town, with a few madmen posting endless diatribes on the same lunatic topics and a few dozen more who remember what the place used to be and used to be about. Basically, tell people that they can yell fire in a crowded theatre but you trust them not to, you're always going to attract those who will not only yell it but compete to see who can yell the loudest. Just my take on it.

Realistically, this site can never be what it once was. Joss, the writers, the producers, the actors, and a good majority of the fans have moved on. It has been 7 years since Firefly aired its 13 episodes--not exactly a wealth of content to merit a host of websites and a continued large following, but we're still here--ghost town and all. Actually, along the spirit of Firefly, I prefer to think of this place as more a saloon in some backward town out in the boonies. Where the locals and a few unsavory visiting characters just hang out after a long hard day, have copious amounts of beer, and shoot the breeze--maybe even have a brawl or two over some stupid disagreement. This place with all its flaws is comforting. It is the one constant in my life where I can find a bit of solace. FFF.NET is my 'Man Cave.' It is always there for me when I need it. I would like to think that it is there for others too when they need it. So that's my take.
