I wouldn't even call it the best Avenged Sevenfold song, much less the best ever. But it's okay.

"I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him."

I'm not sure if your "No politics" in the thread title meant you didn't want the discussion of politics to mar the appreciation of the music presented, or whether you were saying that no political expression should be in the songs themselves.

It would be next to impossible for me to adhere to the latter when talking about my favorite singer/songwriter. Very little of what Phil Ochs did was non-political, although he preferred to call himself a "topical" singer.

It would also be next to impossible for me to say which of his songs are the best ever, but here are three nominations:

Pleasures of the Harbor

Crucifixion

Ringing of Revolution

Sometimes you own the libs. Sometimes, the libs own you.

Nice song and vid, K-man.

Best song eh - 2 contenders from the UK and my generation:

It's not personal. It's just war.

Love RH..your generation? I've been listening to RH forever....Oasis is cool...when they are kicking each other's asses

I'd counter the UK's best...my man Robert"red-smeared-lips" Smith and his band of Crawley crazies.....Lyrics are classic cure.

Too right! Anything by Cold chisel is guaranteed to get everyone up and singing at the pub! I actually cried when the Star Hotel died...Newcastle lost a great icon and Hunter Street became that much more blegh than it is.
Thanks for putting that clip up. Ah the wonderful melding of hard bluesy guitar, Mossies soulful voice blending seamlessly with Barnsies grinding vocals and a killer harmonica...so damn awesome!!! I can't wait till they reform again and tour. They're about due to do that. Or maybe they already have and I'm unaware. have been Knee deep in Thesis so am out of touch with alot.

Kane, The Cure are before my time but I recognise a lot of their songs. Might look into them more. Not a RADIOHEAD FAN, too benevolent in spirit, but I like some of their work and 'Creep' is just a classic.

I don't know what you're playing at with this 'America's Oasis' band... Oasis sounds like this:

Or this:

Or this:

I could go on. Oasis aren't well liked in the U.S, I think because British swagger is different to American swagger and the style doesn't match... And of course it cuts both ways.

It's not personal. It's just war.
