Any other con vets feel free to add to this list.

1. Wear comfortable shoes. Sure cosplaying in combat boots looks good, but by day four I bet your feet will be aching. Bring some spare comfy shoes or just skip the boots/sandals/etc in the first place.

2. Have reserve cash for emergencies. Was that comic book or dvd set worth having to pan handle for gas money for the ride home?

3. Bathe and use deoderant every day. CON-FUNK, nuff said.

4. Frebreeze or just air-out your costume overnight as you sleep, if your cosplaying in the same outfit multiple days, see above for reason why.

5. Stay hydrated. Body can go for a month without
food, but it can barely stand a day or two without water. Having an IV put in by EMT's is not a fun way to spend your time.

6. Bring a camera or get a disposible one. Memories are fine, pictures are better (especially if they are incrimnating)

7. Sleep is good. If your their for multiple days, even a few hours nap can really re-energize you.

8. If your drinking at a room party or whatever (course you should only be drinking if your of legal age), have a trust worthy buddy with you. Just to be safe if you pass out somewhere or need to be rolled onto your side

9. Be friend, be outgoing, have fun!

What about the lines? The waiting? How long before an event should I plan on lining up?

If it's in a big room, no hurry as long as you don't want the front row. If you want a popular event in a small room, go early, preferably for the event held before the one you want to claim a seat.

Also, wear layers. It's freezing in the huge con rooms and down at the Walk of Fame it will be sweltering hot. Never the twain shall meet. I was constantly getting cold and hot.

Plan ahead on cash. The ATM's constantly run out of money and there are fees to use them. Bring snacks and sodas if you can for your room. There is a food court but I can only eat Chick-Fil-A and Orange Julius so many times. BTW, CFA is not open on Sunday but I do recommend the chicken bisquit with cheese for breakfast one day.

Autograph lines for someone popular, about 30 minutes before unless they are hugely popular then probably an hour. James Marsters and Buffy crowd last year had incredibly huge lines. Most people don't have more than a couple of people in line for them so no problem. BTW, they charge at least $20.00 CASH, don't always provide pictures, so have something for them to sign just in case.

Red Bull & Vodka is the drink of the con if you are of legal age. I can't stand it but what the hey, it does keep you up all hours.

Also put the kabosh on the perfume people. It gets bad sometimes.

Ditto on the camera. The costumes are not to be believed and try and make the masquarade if you can.
