Ok so inspiration is very lacking. Maybe you can help me put the pieces together. This isn't really a poem so much as a complete ruination of one of my favourite songs. I didn't get very far, but for some reason when you said "A world without pollen." the first thing that came to mind was John Lennon's Imagine....

Imagine there's no pollen,
That's impossible, you sigh.
No ragweed below us.
Above us it's just really up high.

Imagine there's no congestion.
It isn't hard to breathe
Nothing to take a pill or cry for.
And no antihistamines too.
Imagine all the allergies
Completely come to cease.

(and and that's as far as I got. I want to apologize for making John Lennon roll over in his grave, pound on the coffin, and begin digging his way to the surface in order to take me out for completely ruining his genius. I am truly sorry zombie Lennon, but you see it was all daveshayne's fault!)

OK, here is a first stab at the first bit of the first episode retold in maybe not all that great verse. There are no doubt rough spots but this is a bit of a taste.

Hearken now to tales well told
Of Feds and Reavers and Browncoats bold
Of Companions and scoundrels set into verse
We hope that our rhyming won't make it worse

A hard fighting battle in valley Serenity
Browncoats at bay their backs to the walls
Malcolm and Zoe fighting for freedom
A sergeant and corporal hearing the call

Rallying defiance in the face of great odds
Impossible accomplishment the mark of the mighty
Just a while longer and deliverance comes
In the form of air cover all gracefull and flighty

A skiff in the air raining down death
A bold plan of action to shoot it down
Brave Malcolm charges a prayer on his lips
Zoe his backup against guns all around

Uncaring of danger Mal runs for the AA gun
Zoe behind him protecting his ass
Taking the triger he trains the sights
An alliance airship explodes into gas

With great jubilation Mal calls for support
From angels on high with terrible vengeance
Bendis is cowering afraid for his life
His fear out of place too prety to die

A roar in the distance of ships in formation
Mistaken for angels by the hard pressed
Defenders of Hera atop lonely rocks
The order is given to lay down arms

Mal uncomprehending looks out on the field
An eternal instant constructed of loss
Bendis behind him too prety no more
Falls to the ground returning to dust

Six years later Mal floats in space
Jayne gives him the stickyto open the vault
Wash in the cockpit with dinosaurs playing
It's boring up there it isn't his fault

This land we'll rule over proud steg exclaims
T-Rex interjects we'll call it your grave
His inevitable betrayal sudden and grim
Stegosaurus dies loudly his prayer's wont save

An alert sounds as Wash sweeps away dinos
A radar return forboding disaster
Back on the wreck the vault has full pressure
The goods are intact a veritable treasure

An Alliance cruiser bearing right down
Mal, Jayne, and Zoe in the midst of crime
Shut down the ship all but the air
Sweet Kaylee in the engine room shutting off power

On the Alliance ship Dortmunder a captain queries
The ensign replies the carier blew out
No survivors on board they may as well leave
Mal on the wreck worried they'll stop

A man on the cruiser reading his sensors
Picks up a signal residual heat
The Captain orders a full sensor sweep
Mal orders his brigands to make double time

Kaylee and wash prepare to depart

The Alliance captain disgusted by vultures
Prepares to arrest them before they can fly

But Mal and Wash are prepared for complications
A tricky transmitter calling false distress
The Alliance cruiser takes the proffered bait
Serenity rabbits with engine glowing success

On board Serenity Jayne celebrates their win
A bucaneers joy at booty gained
Mal undoing helmet and walking away
Admits his victory with a world weary sigh

I don't plan to be anywhere near Minnesota, however I will be in Misery and we tend to get snow on Halloween. If we don't get snow we will thunderstorms/tornados!

It'll probably be a while before I can drink again as well. I... overdid it just a bit. Family came home to all the lights on and the music blaring and me passed out. In my own bed thankfully but I can tell you Saturday was a bit grim.
