Yes he's had a remarkable career!

... film student at UCLA

... did all the English dubbing for the film classic Rodan

... appeared in a memorable original Twiligt Zone episode

... played Lt. Sulu in Star Trek

... co-starred with John Wayne in The Green Berets

... did multiple voices for Star Trek animated series

... appeared in Trek movies and Trek tv sequel and prequel series

... AND NOW... the crowning achievement of his life! *** Starring in a Rooms To Go commercial selling a living room set with a 60" tv included for only $1999!

Oh my!

I've not seen the R2GO ad. Oh My, indeed!

You also forgot his bit in HEROES, which I wanna say helped bring him back into the public eye and rekindle his career.

His tv commercial is pretty funny. He has a big smile and is just ecstatic and jubilant about the Rooms To Go package. Hey, good enough for Shatner, good enough for him I guess. He's got bills too!

You left out the part where he came out as gay.

He also had several roles as a legitimate (live, onstage, whole show every night)actor, critically successful if not overwhelmingly commercial. He's also a donor to the Los Angeles Japanese American Art Museum, and an influence in the serious L A art scene.

He's also written a couple of books.

Mrs BC follows him...

I've been following him for some time as well , but I just felt the need to share. I follow a bunch of the BDH on Twitter, though I seldom actually check it out. FB, I don't have too many celebs, and most of them , I don't even bother with getting updates. Save for G.T. He posts some real gems.

Aww man, I missed it. But as hot as Anna Silk is, I've not kept up w/ the show much after season 2. To be honest, I wasn't sure this series would make it past season 1. It seems the more 'into' a show I get, the sooner it's destined for cancellation, so for Lost Girl, I just sorta stopped watching. And sure enough, it's into season 4 ! Good for them.

Well, I can't say it has improved over the years, but I'm still watching. More for Ksenia Solo than Anna Silk though, and Kenzi was dynamite in that episode.

To each their own, I suppose. Kenzi is pretty wicked though.

ETA - I saw the R2GO ad, and it makes me want to go out and buy it!

In all honesty, when he took off his shirt and started using a Foil in the episode of Star Trek, I suspected, even if I didn't really know.

I mean, c'mon...

I do not have a Facebook account so I can not follow him there but I know him to be a great guy. I have heard him state more than once how grateful he is to his fans. I heard him imply they made him rich, he knows it and will always be grateful for it and the love shown to him.

He always puts his best self forward, very classy.

He and his parents were sent to the internment camps, during WW2. Easy for a guy to get bitter over something like that. Glad he chose a different path.

I only hope they don't drag him into Expendables 4.

BBT. My sis tells me Wesley/Wil is on it often.
How come she never mentioned George?

JEWELSTAITEFAN

I feel that perhaps his greatest achievement, and impact upon society/culture, and also the most valuable to those of us who rock fandom, is his willingness to do the very first fan-convention, which was for Star Trek. This was the early 1970's.

I have heard his great story many times, but don't see a linky for it.

The fans were paying for it, but no other actor would come - George decided he would, asked what they wanted him to talk about. The recruiter said he could talk about anything he wanted, but if he could include some stuff about Star Trek (which was what the convention was based upon), that would be cool. He didn't have to stay in a dump, and the convention paid for his flight, room, meals - which was apparently the opposite of the norm at the time. Afterwards, he told all the other actors how great it was, how great the fans were, and encouraged them to attend future conventions.
For many who strive to be loyal and dedicated fans, he changed our world.

This is what I have to thank George for.
