You obviously never read How to Win Friends and Influence People.

I just noticed you called me a ne'er do well on another thread and now this.

I'm not going to bother reading the rest of your post. Go fuck yourself.

Nobody who knows you in the real world wants to be your friend in that world, 6ixStringJack -- they won't hire you -- the ones that did hire you turned around and fired you. You told us that. They just let you get by with only $6,000 per year. Did you even bother to vote for Trump, 6ixStringJack? Trump is not your friend. Neither am I. You're just prey for sharks like Trump. He'd gobble up all your money, what little you have. Fortunately for you, you don't own enough for Trump to steal from you and he doesn't know you exist. Pray to your god that Trump never does.

Signym, you posted the executive order but you failed to understand that in the clever wording of that order Trump is NOT keeping his promise to exclude all terrorists from the USA. His executive order does NOT cover terrorists from countries where the Trump family does business because governments of those countries would retaliate against the Trump family fortune. Trump is worried about his money more than about the USA.

Signym, Trump made a promise to protect wimpy people like you. I do NOT want what he promised you and your cowardly kindred in the Republican party.

Look again, Signym, until you finally understand what you desperately don't want to understand about Trump protecting his family fortune with a far higher priority than protecting your life:

As the global oil industry begins to climb out of a collapse that took 440,000 jobs, anywhere from a third to half may never come back. A combination of more efficient drilling rigs and increased automation is reducing the need for field hands. And therein lies a warning to Trump, who has predicted a flood of new energy-sector jobs under his watch.

During boom, headcounts soared as “we got fat and bloated”.

The two-and-a-half-year downturn gave oil executives time to rethink the mix of human labor and automated machinery in the oil fields.

Still, in the current political climate, they’re proceeding cautiously. More robotic drilling ultimately means lower labor costs and fewer workers near some of the most dangerous tasks. But oil companies probably will frame their cost-cutting technologies simply as a way to be more competitive around the world.

They’ll more likely brag about the automation rather than these lower head counts. It’s kind of dangerous to talk about jobs in the Trump administration.

Rigs have gotten so much more efficient that the shale industry can use about half as many as it did at the height of the boom in 2014 to suck the same amount of oil out of the ground, says Angie Sedita, an analyst at UBS Corp. Nabors Industries, the world’s largest onshore driller, says it expects to cut the number of workers at each well site eventually to about five from 20 by deploying more automated drilling rigs.

Baby Man’s Timetable to replace ACA has Republicans in disarray

In private, many fear change will create a politically disastrous new ‘Trumpcare

WASHINGTON — Congressional Republicans, meeting behind closed doors this week in Philadelphia, expressed grave concerns about dismantling the Affordable Care Act on the urgent timetable demanded by President Donald Trump, fretting that they could wreck insurance markets and be saddled with a politically disastrous “Trumpcare.”

An audio recording of a session at their annual retreat, obtained by the New York Times shows Republicans in disarray, far from agreement on health policy and still searching for something to replace former President Barack Obama’s health care law. While their leaders pitched their belief that the Affordable Care Act remains the Democrats’ burden, some backbench Republicans expressed skepticism.

“We had better be sure that we are prepared to live with the market being created,” said Rep. Tom McClintock of California, because “that’s going to be called Trumpcare.” He added, “Republicans will own it lock, stock and barrel, and we’ll be judged on that.”

If you really hated Americans and you wanted to create a caricature to mock them, you'd really pretty much have Trump - he just personifies all the 'ugly american' traits - red faced, ignorant, nepotistic, uncouth, lewd, jingoistic .... he's basically an insult to Americans.

Anyway - good fodder for the comedians!

So, you DO want jobs to come back - don't you? You DO think having more jobs for people is a good thing - don't you?

1kiki, you never understood industry bosses. Will you ever? It will require new laws and large amounts of Federal money to force the CEO of Exxon-Mobil, the new guy replacing Rex Tillerson, to create more JOBS in the oil fields.

Why stop with Trump wanting only those jobs lost in the last few years coming back? Why not increase the jobs to the level of the days of Spindletop in 1900? Or if you don't want to go that primitive, then the 1970's era.

It would be possible for Trump to do, with enough Federal money and new laws. Trump could set up a new Federal Oil Field Bureau that tests, and mainly delays, new equipment for the oil fields. Then Trump could insist that it was only right that the work week be cut to 20 hours per week and hourly pay rate doubled because the work load on each man is very heavy. That would certainly double oil field employment. But, and there is always a but:

The Federal government would have to pay because Exxon-Mobil won't create new jobs unless somebody, not the corporation, is paying to do it. Good luck, 1kiki and Trump, convincing Congress to approve the money. There is no possibility that Exxon-Mobil will create more jobs unless it makes a lot more money.

Jobs are not so much moving as disappearing. There is no way to keep them indefinitely either here in the United States or anywhere else on earth.

. . . military officials had been planning and debating the raid for months under the Obama administration, but Obama officials decided to leave the choice to Trump. The new President personally authorized the attack last week. They claim that the “main target” of the raid “was computer materials inside the house that could contain clues about future terrorist plots.” The paper cited a Yemeni official saying that “at least eight women and seven children, ages 3 to 13, had been killed in the raid,” and that the attack also “severely damaged a school, a health facility and a mosque.”

As my colleague Matthew Cole reported in great detail just weeks ago, Navy Seal Team 6, for all its public glory, has a long history of “‘revenge ops,’ unjustified killings, mutilations, and other atrocities.” And Trump notoriously vowed during the campaign to target not only terrorists but also their families.

Is Trump humorously ironic? Or is Trump deliberately misleading? Depends on whether or not 6ixStringJack can understand the type of joke Trump uses repeatedly:

The deadly shooting in a Quebec mosque on Sunday (Jan. 29) justified the Trump administration’s stance on immigration, Trump spokesman Sean Spicer said. “We condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms. It’s a terrible reminder of why we must remain vigilant, and why the president is taking steps to be proactive, rather than reactive, when it comes to our nation’s safety and security,” he said.

But the sole suspect in custody for the Quebec shooting is Alexandre Bissonette, a white man identified by Canadian media as an anti-immigrant “far-right troll.” Bissonette was a fan of Trump’s on Facebook.

Is Trump humorously ironic? Or is Trump deliberately misleading? You decide:

People were making fun of Trump because Mexico will not, as he promised during the campaign, pay for that wall along the border. So his spokesman, Sean Spicer, went out and declared that a border tax on Mexican products would, in fact, pay for the wall. So there!

As economists quickly pointed out, however, tariffs aren’t paid by the exporter. With some minor qualifications, basically they’re paid for by the buyers — that is, a tariff on Mexican goods would be a tax on U.S. consumers. America, not Mexico, would therefore end up paying for the wall.

Oops.

Over the weekend, Republican bankroller Charles Koch broached a topic that seemed unthinkable just months ago in America—that the US president could morph into a dictator, unless his power is checked. “We have a tremendous danger because we can go the authoritarian route … or we can move toward a free and open society,” Koch reportedly told a closed-door meeting of Republicans.

With Trump’s first military fiasco, he has started small, but he’ll learn how to handle the very biggest fiascoes his mind and orders can create:

'Almost Everything Went Wrong': SEAL, U.S. Girl Die in First Trump-Era Military Raid
www.nbcnews.com/news/world/seal-american-girl-die-first-trump-era-u-s-
military-n714346

Contrary to earlier reporting, the senior military official said, the raid was Trump's first clandestine strike — not a holdover mission approved by President Barack Obama. The mission involved "boots on the ground" at an al Qaeda camp near al Bayda in south central Yemen, the official said.

"Almost everything went wrong," the official said.

An MV-22 Osprey experienced a hard landing near the site, injuring several SEALs, one severely. The tilt-rotor aircraft had to be destroyed. A SEAL was killed during the firefight on the ground, as were some noncombatants, including females.

Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula released a statement via online jihadi media referring to the raid as a "massacre," said U.S. troops had fired on women and children "in cold blood," and accused the SEALs of having "no human values."

Trump, two weeks ago: "Pharma has a lot of lobbies, a lot of lobbyists, and a lot of power. And there's very little bidding on drugs. We're the largest buyer of drugs in the world, and yet we don't bid properly."

Trump, yesterday, after meeting with Pharma lobbyists: "I'll oppose anything that makes it harder for smaller, younger companies to take the risk of bringing their product to a vibrantly competitive market. That includes price-fixing by the biggest dog in the market, Medicare, which is what's happening."

All it took was a few minutes and Trump caved completely to the pharmaceutical industry.

Trump managed to convince enough voters in just the right places that his “business success,” born mostly of hype and relentless public relations over many years, qualified him for the Oval Office. Since the Protestant work ethic and the philosophy of virtuous capitalism still permeate American culture, it’s not uncommon for people to equate financial success with superior intelligence and character. Many individuals among the public undoubtedly assumed that Trump’s persona at the rallies was somewhat of a salesman’s act, that he was playing the role of demagogue to rile up the crowd. They assumed that behind closed doors he was a smart and able businessman, making tough decisions on the fly, handling many issues at once.

Those voters did not see what millions of others felt instinctively and that explains the shocked reaction and immediate resistance to his election: Trump’s incessant bragging, his lack of empathy or remorse, his pathological lying have been signs of an unstable personality. It was obvious to many of us that something was not right.

One couldn’t help but think that the weight of the job might inspire Trump’s staff and the people close to him to instill some discipline into the system and keep the new president focused once he took the wheel. That hasn’t happened.

U.S. military officials told Reuters that Trump approved his first covert counterterrorism operation without sufficient intelligence, ground support or adequate backup preparations. As a result, three officials said, the attacking SEAL team found itself dropping onto a reinforced al Qaeda base defended by landmines, snipers, and a larger than expected contingent of heavily armed Islamist extremists.

One of the three U.S. officials said on-the-ground surveillance of the compound was “minimal, at best. The decision was made ... to leave it to the incoming administration, partly in the hope that more and better intelligence could be collected,” that official said.

Reading between the lines, Trump figured that Obama was a wuss and spent too much time over-thinking this stuff as Commander-in-Chief. Trump wanted action immediately, so he ordered a mission, any mission, so long as it happened fast. It went badly.

Another pair of stories about Trump not being prepared. He rather improvise. It does not go well:

First the US announces it will honor the deal. Then the US president has changed his mind and tweets that, instead, he's going to study it.

Aside from the sheer ineptitude on public display here, this shows that, once again, Trump refuses to be briefed before calls with foreign leaders. Even a cursory memo from an area expert in the State Department would have mentioned that the refugee deal was likely to come up in his call with Prime Minister Turnbull on Saturday. But Trump was taken completely by surprise. He had no idea.

A satirical magazine ran Donald Trump’s remarks on Black History Month, verbatim, as a humor column.
https://qz.com/901159

To commemorate the start of Black History Month in the United States, a time when the country recognizes the historically overlooked achievements of black Americans, US president Donald Trump hosted a “listening session” at the White House yesterday with invited representatives of the black community.

Bizarrely, Trump used this time to speak at length about a variety of topics, including his own victory in the recent US presidential contest and his perceived victimization by the media. He also delivered some very oddly phrased remarks about black Americans: “Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who’s done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more, I notice,” Trump said of the former slave and abolitionist leader, who rose to become a prominent statesman before his death in 1895.

But the rambling speech, which has left many scratching their heads, was a gift to humorists. They don’t even need to do anything to it to make it funny. A writer for Late Night with Seth Myers read excerpts of the speech (video) on the TV show. McSweeney’s, the satirical literary magazine founded by author Dave Eggers, just slapped on a headline and ran the full, unedited text of the speech as a humor column. It headlined the piece, “My Very Good Black History Month Tribute To Some of the Most Tremendous Black People.”

Watch the speech below, or read the full text as provided by the White House press office:

Donald Trump Lied To Us About His Health

In December 2015, Donald Trump released a letter from his physician stating that he takes "81 mg of aspirin daily and a low dose of a statin." Yesterday we learned that's untrue. Here's the New York Times:

President Trump takes medication for three ailments, including a prostate-related drug to promote hair growth, Mr. Trump’s longtime physician, Dr. Harold N. Bornstein, said in a series of recent interviews. The other drugs are antibiotics to control rosacea, a common skin problem, and a statin for elevated blood cholesterol and lipids.
www.nytimes.com/2017/02/01/us/politics/trump-prostate-drug-hair-harold
-bornstein.html

The hair-growth drug Trump takes, Propecia, has been associated in some men with "depression, anxiety and mental fogginess." Trump should stop taking this drug for his hair or else resign his office. I predict he will do neither even though Trump is foggier than ever before.

bly-permanent-sexual/story?id=16758123

Dr. Bornstein said that he was sure that Mr. Trump was up to date on an H.I.V. test, which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that all adults get at least once. He said if he became the White House doctor he doubted that he would include in Mr. Trump’s annual checkup any psychometric tests as a base line for potential dementia. Mr. Trump’s father, Fred, suffered from Alzheimer’s disease in his eighties and a number of experts have urged that older political leaders undergo such tests.

South Park' creators explain why it's too hard to make fun of Trump: 'Satire has become reality'

"It's really hard to make fun of and in the last season of 'South Park,' which just ended a month and a half ago, we were really trying to make fun of what was going on, but we couldn't keep up. And what was actually happening was much funnier than anything we could come up with. So we decided to kind of back off and let them do their comedy and we'll do ours."

It won’t help mainstream media shake the perception of a liberal bias, that’s for sure. The latest crop of covers from major news magazines have taken a noticeably dim view of US president Donald Trump’s first days in office. In the coming weeks, expect newsstands to be stocked with some grim and melancholy covers.

Here’s a selection:

Yanno, IMHO this entire thread should be shit-canned.

SECOND, dearie ... what did you think of JFK? Did you know that he was on steroids, which have real, consequential side effects? Did you know that he was a horn-dog who chased after women relentlessly? Did you know that on HIS watch, NO immigration was allowed?

This thread focuses on such breathtakingly important newflashes such as the size of Trump's hands, cartoons pf Trump, the minor medications that he's taking, handwriting analysis (!), and SECOND's every breathless obsessive channeling of every anti-Trump snippet that she can throw against the wall - true, fake, sarcastic, ironic, important or not - to see what sticks. It has become SECOND's pet project, which she grinds on ... and on ... and on ...

Amidst all of this ghafla there are probably a few important points buried somewhere. But it's like universal surveillance - if you keep making the haystack bigger, finding those needles becomes less and less possible.

For the record: I'm against approximately 80% of Trump's agenda. And yet, SECOND has not focused on any of the points that I would contest, but has chosen to focus on bullshit. (Maybe because she's from Texas.)

I ask myself why past Presidents were big cheerleaders for the reputation of the USA, but Trump is not? I do believe Trump has a hidden agenda which pops out of his mouth when he is not reading a TelePrompter:

O’Reilly told Trump that Putin is a killer. Trump’s reply: ‘You think our country is so innocent?’
www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2017/02/04/oreilly-told-t
rump-that-putin-is-a-killer-trumps-reply-you-think-our-countrys-so-innocent/?utm_term=.0345d5ffcea7

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — President Trump has long been effusive in his praise for Russian President Vladimir Putin, despite criticism from Republicans and Democrats alike.

In an interview with Fox News's Bill O'Reilly, which will air ahead of the Super Bowl on Sunday, Trump doubled down on his “respect” for Putin — even in the face of accusations that Putin and his associates have murdered journalists and dissidents in Russia.

“I do respect him. Well, I respect a lot of people, but that doesn’t mean I’ll get along with them,” Trump told O'Reilly.

O'Reilly pressed on, declaring to the president that “Putin is a killer.”
Unfazed, Trump didn't back away, but rather compared Putin's reputation for extrajudicial killings with the United States'.

“There are a lot of killers. We have a lot of killers,” Trump said. “Well, you think our country is so innocent?”

Trump added that he thinks the United States is “better” getting along with Russia than not.

“If Russia helps us in the fight against ISIS, which is a major fight, and Islamic terrorism all around the world, major fight. That’s a good thing,” Trump said. ISIS is another name for the Islamic State.

It wouldn't be the first time Trump has brushed aside the topic of Putin's political killings.

In a 2015 interview on “Morning Joe,” Trump was pressed on the same issue and gave a similar answer.

“He kills journalists that don't agree with him,” the show's host, Joe Scarborough, pointed out.

“Well, I think that our country does plenty of killing, too, Joe,” Trump said. As recently as this week, a prominent Putin critic was poisoned for the second time.

Russian activist suffers symptoms of poisoning for 2nd time in 2 years
Doug Stanglin , USA TODAY Published 9:17 a.m. ET Feb. 3, 2017

A prominent Russian opposition activist who almost died from an apparent poisoning two years ago was in stable but critical condition Friday after suddenly falling ill during a trip to Moscow.

Vladimir Kara-Murza, a U.S. green card holder with dual British-Russian citizenship, was in Russia promoting a documentary film about Boris Nemtsov, his close friend and Russian opposition leader who was shot and killed only a few hundred yards from the Kremlin in 2015.

Kara-Murza, a journalist who lives in Virginia with his wife, Evgenia, is chairman of the Boris Nemtsov Foundation for Freedom and coordinator of the Open Russia Foundation, which promotes civil society and democracy. He has also testified before Congress on political repression in Russia.

Kara-Murza's condition is similar to 2015 when he almost died from sudden kidney failure in a suspected poisoning in Moscow.

Fiscal issues could doom Trump's wall along the Texas/Mexico border

Beyond Texas Republican Congressmen's specific local objections to the wall, the fiscal cost looms large.

The $12-$15 billion is a lot of money to spend on what amounts to a pet project for the president.

Meanwhile, the White House is poorly positioned to argue that the wall needs to be deficit-financed because the president rather famously promised that Mexico — rather than America’s children — will pay for the wall.

By the same token, putting together a package of offsetting spending cuts will be very difficult to sell because, again, Trump promised that Mexico will pay for the wall. Insisting on offsetting the cost of the wall with spending cuts elsewhere is a pretty unassailably conservative position — conservatives are supposed to be against spending, after all.

Meanwhile, it’s unlikely red-state Democrats feel particularly pressured to bail Trump out on this, because they can always say that they want what their constituents voted for: Trump’s promise that Mexico will pay for the wall.

Which means that in fiscal terms all roads more or less lead back to Trump’s campaign pledge, which was to make Mexico pay for a border wall. The Trump White House, of course, has no way of making this happen since Trump has rendered himself so politically toxic in Mexico that it would be suicide for any Mexican politician to agree to any deal that could even possibly be construed as Mexico paying for a border wall. This has left the administration flailing, suggesting at one point that broad corporate income tax reform might somehow constitute Mexico paying for the wall.

All of this could be moot, however, since it’s rarely been clear how serious Trump himself is about the wall. Newt Gingrich opined shortly after the election that it was a mere “campaign device.” A lot of the border, in states other than Texas, is already walled or fenced, and Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly just suggested that a “see-through” wall composed of sensors could do the job in Texas.

Which leaves open one possibility: it wouldn’t be very difficult to appropriate some money for some additional solid (not “see-through”) wall construction. That would be enough for Trump to make a visit to a border wall construction site and declare victory — while Republican senators (relieved to have avoided paying $14 billion for a real wall along the entire Texas border) would surely be happy to let Trump have the political win.

Trump Has the Whole Country Talking About Terrorist Attacks

Trump doesn't care if lots of people think he's an idiot. He just doesn't have the instinct for shame. What he cares about is getting everybody talking about a big list of terrorist attacks, and he knows that to do that he has to give us all a reason to talk about them. If the price of that is some mockery, that's a trade he's willing to make. Mission accomplished.

Trump demeans a federal judge who challenges him; the next day, without evidence, he accuses the media of hiding illegal voting or acts of terrorism. His lack of respect for institutions and truth pours out so fast, you start to forget how crazy this behavior is for any adult, let alone a president, and just how ugly things will get when we have a real crisis. And crises are baked into this story because of the incoherence of President Trump’s worldview.

He made a series of reckless, unconnected promises, not much longer than tweets, to get elected, and now he’s just checking off each one, without thinking through the linkages among them or anticipating second-order effects.

It is a great way to make America weak — and overstretched — again.

Yemen Withdraws Permission for U.S. Antiterror Ground Missions because Trump is Incompetent Commander-in-Chief

Angry at the civilian casualties incurred last month in the first commando raid authorized by President Trump, Yemen has withdrawn permission for the United States to run Special Operations ground missions against suspected terror groups in the country, according to American officials.

Grisly photographs of children apparently killed in the crossfire of a 50-minute firefight during the raid caused outrage in Yemen. A member of the Navy’s SEAL Team 6, Chief Petty Officer William Owens, was also killed in the operation.

While the White House continues to insist that the attack was a “success” — a characterization it repeated on Tuesday — the suspension of commando operations is a setback for Mr. Trump, who has made it clear he plans to take a far more aggressive approach against Islamic militants.

It also calls into question whether the Pentagon will receive permission from the president for far more autonomy in selecting and executing its counterterrorism missions in Yemen, which it sought, unsuccessfully, from President Barack Obama in the last months of his presidency.

Trump’s approval of the Jan. 29 raid came over a dinner four nights earlier with his top national security aides, rather than in the kind of rigorous review in the Situation Room that became fairly routine under President George W. Bush and Mr. Obama.

The raid, in which just about everything went wrong, was an early test of Mr. Trump’s national security decision-making . . .

Mr. Trump will soon have to make a decision about the more general request by the Pentagon to allow more of such operations in Yemen without detailed, and often time-consuming, White House review. It is unclear whether Mr. Trump will allow that, or how the series of mishaps that marked his first approval of such an operation may have altered his thinking about the human and political risks of such operations.

Trump is laying the groundwork for the next financial crisis

There’s no great mystery as to how regulatory policy shaped primarily by the business interests of major banks will end — big profits, big bonuses, and eventually a big crash and a big bailout.
www.vanityfair.com/news/2007/12/bush200712

Bankers feel that if American banks weren’t regulated so much, they could do business more aggressively, which would be good for Trump’s friends. Trump’s choice of the COO of one giant bank as his top economic policy adviser and citation of the CEO of another giant bank as a leading authority on smart regulatory policy is a good sign of where he stands on this. His anecdote explaining that some of his rich friends are being told regulation is the reason they can’t get loans is, in its way, even more telling. Statistically speaking, there is more bank lending today than ever before. But it’s certainly true that if regulators allowed banks to engage in riskier behavior, some new risky bets could get made.

The downside, of course, would be a much more fragile economy.

But the genius of bank regulation as a policy area is that no matter how badly Trump screws it up, the odds are that on any given day, there won’t be a financial crisis anyway.

A poorly supervised financial system can pile on egregious hidden risks for fun and profit and suffer no obvious bad consequences for years. If it happens to blow up in an election year, of course, Trump is screwed.

But while dramatic moves on immigration, health care, and budget policy are sure to provoke immediate blowback, on bank regulation, it’s entirely plausible that Trump will sow the seeds of destruction and nobody will notice until reelection in 2020 is in the rearview mirror.

Trump Caves In To Chinese

Behold the greatest negotiator our nation has ever seen:

President Donald J. Trump and President Xi Jinping of China had a lengthy telephone conversation on Thursday evening. The two leaders discussed numerous topics and President Trump agreed, at the request of President Xi, to honor our "one China" policy.

A single sentence in a late-night press release from the White House was the least humiliating way Trump's aides could think of for publicly knuckling under to China.

December 12, 2016: Trump goes on Fox News Sunday to poke China: "I fully understand the 'one China' policy, but I don't know why we have to be bound by a 'one China' policy unless we make a deal with China having to do with other things, including trade."

Trump’s conflicts of interest are multidirectional and comprehensive

A president would want to separate himself from ownership of operating businesses in order to insulate himself.

Liberal activists would have loved to hit Bush in the wallet while he was president, but they couldn’t — his financial assets were in a blind trust. Conservative activists, similarly, had no way to injure Obama’s portfolio, because his money was in diversified index funds.

Trump, by contrast, literally has his name stamped on things. Foreign governments that don’t like a Trump policy decision can take action against the factories that make Trump-branded apparel. Foreign terrorists can attack Trump-branded buildings located around the world. Protesters can try to shut down Trump’s golf courses. And boycott campaigns can urge retailers to stop carrying Trump-branded products. Trump could, of course, choose not to care about any of this.

But from Trump’s failure to comply with precedents around financial conflicts of interest to his actions over Nordstrom’s decision, he has shown that he clearly does care about his various businesses and brand-licensing ventures. The subsequent behavior of his staff shows that in a faction-ridden administration, the temptation to curry favor by operating on behalf of the Trump Family Business is unavoidable. And whether the net impact on Trump’s personal finances is positive or negative, the public debate will be repeatedly dragged away from the GOP’s policy agenda and toward the idiosyncratic personal and professional interests of the president and his family.

I think it's a lot better than having a president start with such a high approval rating that he gets the Nobel Peace prize for doing nothing and with a majority in the house and senate was able to do just about whatever the hell he wanted to his first two years in office. Funny how they never asked for that peace prize or the money back when he proved that to be totally false.

I think it's a good thing that his approval rating is low because I don't think any president should have that much sway, especially when the house and senate lean in their favor.

He's been in office 3 weeks. I think it's far too early to say anything he plans on doing has failed, or will fail. I don't think it's a bad thing that he is taking his time to fill the cabinet either. I don't think anybody besides the Clintons would argue that killing the TPP deal was a bad thing. America is just as white as it was 3 weeks ago.

Comparing inauguration sizes? Are we in high school again? lol

Obama promised a Hope and Change, an end to the wars in the middle east, and a better economy. All we got was more of the same, several new illegal wars without a congressional declaration of war, and the worst standard of living for the lower 50% of Americans since the Great Depression. It took him 8 full years of doing nothing for his people to get all of that done.

I'm going to give him a little bit more than 21 days before I start throwing out judgements.

Those pissy democrats are doing their job. I for one like it when they're busy fighting each other. :)

You weren't going to have a high approval rating for Trump. Period. Our nation has become more and more divided, at least since the GWB years, and this election process was just terrible. I think we all know of at least one relationship that was destroyed or family members who are no longer talking to each other because of it.

Honestly, I have missed a lot of things. I am still suffering from a major case of burn out after that election. The only news I've really gotten since the election is from what you guys post here and what I hear other people talking about in real life. It's not as if I could do anything about anything now anyhow. No reason to get myself all stressed out again for the moment. I'm sure I'm going to have a lot of complaints about Trump after the first 100 days. I just hope that by then he has done some good things too.

Besides... I've got a couple of projects I've been working on IRL. Things I've been meaning to do for years but wasn't doing because I was drunk all the time. Once I rid myself of that clutter (and the clutter in my mind), and now that I'm sobering up and starting to feel like a human being again, I got bigger things to worry about like becoming employed again, even if it's not "gainfully".

The one great thing about America is no matter how bad the government is fucking everything else up, we still have a lot of freedom in our own life to change our own situations. Is anything going to be perfect? Nah... but there's always something you can do to make it better. Especially if you've let yourself go as far down the rabbit hole as I did.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

What has gone right for him so far:

1. Immigration ban - no
2. Biggest inauguration eva! - eh, no.
3. Bueno Wall - not gonna happen
4. Repeal and replace ACA - not this term
5. TPP - gift to China
6. Fix NATO - ?
7. Increase Ivanka's sales - no
8. Make America White Again - yes!
9. Lowest ratings for a new president - yes!
10. Slowest to get full cabinet - yes!
11. Keeping a safe house in Russia jic - yes!

Maybe ala George Costanza, he'd be more successful if he does the opposite of what he thinks he should do?

If the democrats wish to win back some of the one thousand legislative seats they have lost across the country in the last 8 years, they better stop insulting and cutting out of the heard they represent, the white working class.
