Lol SECOND, I quoted you before pointing out what you posted to 6 was way beyond his reading comprehension skills. I see he still doesn't get it. It's just to funny.

Hey, you may want to try telling 6 directly, 6, I am talking to you. Or 6, I am not talking to you. It's just to funny.

Incoming link to another vaguely related story to deflect your questions in 3..... 2...... 1....

You still expect I'm posting to answer your questions. Once in awhile I'll take the bait, but I can tell I'm wasting my time on you because you've got a serious problem with understanding the world as it actually is rather than your simple-minded model of how the world works.

If you really respect Trump voters, tell them the truth:
Trump's nostalgia economics won’t work.

A wave of recent columns argue that what Trump superfans — or at least some hazily imagined, hard-pressed Northern working-class version of them — really want is respect. By all appearances, though, the opposite is the case. Those voters want what most voters want from politicians: to be disrespected, via shameless pandering and the occasional blatant lie.

This was true of the men I spoke to in Bucksport, Maine, in the summer of 2016 who’d never backed a GOP presidential candidate before but were drawn to Donald Trump on the theory that he could bring back the shuttered Verso paper mill — whose closure devastated the community. They seemed most of all to want to be told that reopening the mill was a realistic dream, even though it almost certainly is not.

That doesn’t make Trump fans unique. It makes them normal. Politicians who tell liberals that overturning Citizens United would solve all their problems or that an aggressive crackdown on fossil fuel use would magically usher in a bonanza of well-paid green jobs are, similarly, misleading their constituents and not respecting them.

But if you really respect people and really want to help them, you need to level with them at some point.

Whether or not you agree with what they say about policies in the article, it's about having an honest discussion. Not possible here.

You're expecting them to publicly agree to reverse themselves on Trump, either for him or against him. Privately, that might happen but there is nowhere on the internet, not just at fireflyfans.net, where that has ever happened in public. Now on with the continuing story of Trump. In the episode where Trump does his latest parody of being wise and well-informed:

Trump demands federal funding for a border wall he promised Mexico would pay for. He has leaned heavily on the argument that the wall is the only way to stop illegal drugs from coming across the Southwest border.

“The Wall is a very important tool in stopping drugs from pouring into our country and poisoning our youth (and many others)!” the president tweeted this week. “If the wall is not built, which it will be, the drug situation will NEVER be fixed the way it should be!”

But experts on the drug trade say a border wall, even one as big and beautiful as Trump promised, would be near-impotent in stemming the supply of illegal drugs.

The primary reason? Drugs that flow across the Southwest border, like heroin, are primarily transported through existing border checkpoints via cars and trucks. Those checkpoints will be there whether the wall gets built or not.

Mexican drug cartels “transport the bulk of their drugs over the Southwest border through ports of entry (POEs) using passenger vehicles or tractor trailers,” the DEA writes in its 2015 National Drug Threat Assessment. “The drugs are typically secreted in hidden compartments when transported in passenger vehicles or comingled with legitimate goods when transported in tractor trailers.”

Trump does not know it but his administration knows this. At an April hearing, Department of Homeland Security Secretary John F. Kelly acknowledged that illegal drugs “mostly come through the ports of entry.” At a separate hearing in February, the director of a customs border task force told lawmakers that “the Southwest land border POEs are the major points of entry for illegal drugs, where smugglers use a wide variety of tactics and techniques for concealing drugs.”

Maybe Trump should talk to his own people? Or is that too much work?

Polls show he has lost 2% of his followers. But no, you're right. Many still don't acknowledge they voted for him in the first place. More statistics show when called by a real person, more said they didn't vote Trump than when answering to a recording. Those of his voters who are not ideologues, are saying it is still to soon to say if they have made a mistake.

Trump IS a man of the people. Really. Having Trump as president is like having my neighbor suddenly plucked out of his house and life and made president. I can just hear Dan say, "Huh? Who know Health Care could be so complicated?" Dan also watches Fox, and parrots pretty much everything they say.

I find Trump's stubbornness and lack of focus, ie, his inability to LEARN, one of the most troubling things. Now he's going back to his vendetta against the ACA, tax reform in a week, The Wall (terrible movie), he's in a loop of failure, too stubborn to take on what might actually work, just "force it! I will not be denied!"

I met a traveller from an antique land . . .

I saw an article this morning that mentioned Herbert Hoover, despite his incompetent handling of the Great Depression, still got 80 percent of his previous vote total during his doomed reelection bid. Trump has now got a nearly perfect 96 percent lock on Trump voters. But what might keep Trump from serving 8 years are the people who did not vote for either Trump or Hillary.

Trump’s inability to win over the majority of voters who backed a rival candidate is a much bigger deal than his skill at retaining the support of most of the people who already voted for him. The big question in American politics is whether Trump’s opponents can find a platform and set of candidates that unite the diverse and somewhat diffuse anti-Trump majority, not whether the president’s fans continue to celebrate him.

Trump’s White House is obsessed with how its first 100 days will be scored in the media. It’s a ridiculous, arbitrary marker and Trump himself has even said so. But he’s the most media-obsessed president of all time and The Trump White House is very concerned about how it will be graded on its first 100 days. Trump himself has called the marker “ridiculous.” But he clearly cares about it profoundly, which is why he’s out there telling absurd lies about the scale of his achievements and having his press office release an error-riddled comparison of Trump’s 100 days to his predecessors.

Trump was, of course, right the first time. It’s an entirely meaninglessly milestone. But in his desperation to put points on the board, the White House is suddenly jamming the last week of his 100 days with a crowded agenda of half-baked policy items. He’s got a new health care bill that hasn’t been scored by the CBO, suddenly has a plan to totally rewrite the tax code, but still needs congress to avert a government shutdown, while he picks obscure fights with Canada.

It’s an approach to government that prioritizes good cable news segments over good governance and it’s ridiculous.

Normal presidents downplay the 100 days cliché. Trump is letting it control him this week. Has the situation driven him momentarily crazy because the 100th day deadline is on Saturday?

Yesterday Trump revealed his tax plan. It is one page. That is less than his four page tax plan from the campaign. He had 100 days to work on it and the new plan is less detailed than the old. Real plans get more detailed with time. Trump should have released this plan earlier, on April Fool’s Day.

One of the central conceits of Trump’s presidential campaign was that all shortcomings of US public policy stemmed from the fact that the country’s previous political leaders were either stupid or corrupt.

Potential Canadian retaliation against Trump’s lumber measures reveals that, on the contrary, many issues are genuinely difficult. Every administration launches its share of trade policy actions, but it’s often hard to bring these disputes to a satisfactory resolution precisely because the other side also gets to retaliate. Foreign governments can often become quite clever at coming up with actions that maximize political damage to their American adversaries while minimizing economic costs to themselves.

A bar on American coal exports from the British Columbia port would be, in this sense, perfect. Trump has made big promises to the American coal industry and could pay a real price for failing to represent their interests. British Columbia, meanwhile, gains relatively little from being a way station between American coal and Asian power plants, and public opinion in Canada — where Trudeau is constantly walking a tightrope between trying to take action on climate change and trying to exploit Canada’s oil sands resources — would probably support banning American coal on environmental grounds alone.

Trump could, of course, always try to come up with a new tit-for-tat countermeasure in response. His problem in winning this kind of dispute, however, is that identifying clever trade war targets requires a fair degree of substantive policy knowledge — an area in which he is notably lacking.

In other countries, law enforcement has no qualms about arresting ex-Presidents. South Korea, for example, arrested its ex-President. Bush hasn’t visited Europe since 2008, has he? He’s afraid of the law. If Obama broke the law then the FBI would have already arrested him. He’s not President. He can’t stop them. Same goes for Hillary and her email server. Yet, the FBI has done nothing. Obama and Hillary didn’t break the law. They have no immunity from law. But if you want to say they did break the law despite not being arrested, you are a nutcase. Seek help from a minister or psychologist.

Actually, the FBI said that Hillary DID break the law.

The only reason she "got away" with it is because they found that she unknowingly broke the law. In the same breath they made a point of letting everybody else know that this was not going to be a get out of jail free card for anybody else.

Yeah. That was Comey who said that. I think you guys were trying to say that he is Trump's pet, right?

Do you often "unknowingly" spread falsehoods? There has never been a law that says if you "unknowingly" broke the law you didn't break the law. The "unknowingly" might influence the severity of the sentence the criminal eventually receives much later, but the criminal still get arrested in the here and now, if the cop (not the criminal) feels like obeying the law. And Comey had plenty of motivation to feel like arresting Hillary and let a judge sort it all out because the entire Republican Party was aware of every little detail of Comey investigating Hillary.

The New York Times published a detailed story about why Comey did what he did. At every step of the way, Comey demonstrated either his fear of crossing Republicans or his concern over protecting his own reputation from Republican attacks after the election. He was not reacting to what Hillary did or knew. He only reacted to what Republicans might do to him or think of him.

....As Trump is beginning to better understand the challenges—and the limits—of the presidency, his aides are understanding better how to manage perhaps the most improvisational and free-wheeling president in history. “If you’re an adviser to him, your job is to help him at the margins,” said one Trump confidante. “To talk him out of doing crazy things.”

Since his ascension to the White House, conventional wisdom has developed an odd tendency to describe Trump's inability to make major legislative changes as an indication that his presidency is failing. It's certainly true that Paul Ryan’s speakership of the House is failing, arguable that Mitch McConnell’s tenure as majority leader of the Senate is failing, and indisputably true that the Koch brothers’ drive to infuse hardcore libertarian ideological zeal into the GOP is failing.

But Trump isn’t failing. He and his family appear to be making money hand over fist. It's a spectacle the likes of which we've never seen in the United States, and while it may end in disaster for the Trumps someday, for now it shows no real sign of failure.

Details of how Trump grows wealthier are at "Donald Trump’s first 100 days have been a moneymaking success story"

"I loved my previous life. I had so many things going," Trump told Reuters in an interview. "This is more work than in my previous life. I thought it would be easier." He was nuts to think that, then he went on to say something even nuttier.

The president has been at loggerheads with many news organizations since his election campaign and decided not to attend the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington on Saturday because he felt he had been treated unfairly by the media.

"I would come next year, absolutely," Trump said when asked whether he would attend in the future. Does Trump really think the News will be kinder and fairer to him once they get to know him better? Is he completely nuts or what? That is not how the News has ever worked with any President. Does Trump not understand this?

Trump’s Attorney General won’t try Hillary because he can't prove she is guilty, but as long as there is no trial Trump can continue to insinuate she is guilty. Even Trump’s people don’t believe what Trump said about Hillary. If they believed Trump was not a liar, they would go to trial.

“I was all set to terminate,” Trump said in an Oval Office interview Thursday night. “I looked forward to terminating. I was going to do it.”...At one point, he turned to Kushner, who was standing near his desk, and asked, “Was I ready to terminate NAFTA?”

“Yeah,” Kushner said, before explaining the case he made to the president: “I said, ‘Look, there’s plusses and minuses to doing it,’ and either way he would have ended up in a good place.”

Trump was all ready to pull the trigger, but then his advisors brought in a colorful map showing that lots of red states and counties would be harmed by pulling out of NAFTA. That is all it took for Trump to flip-flop on NAFTA, after years of him saying and doing the opposite. There is no equivalent explanation for Trump's flip-flop on appointing a special prosecutor for Hillary, either. Trump changed his mind for no goddamn reason at all.

But then when I think about it for 5 minutes, maybe NAFTA and Hillary were just tales told by Trump, "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

I'm going to wait and see on the whole NAFTA issue. What I've heard so far is just as disappointing as Trumps other Hillary-like decisions he's made so far. There are plenty of articles you could have posted other than the one obviously written by a child though. I assume this story was handed to the editor, written in crayons.

There may be a link here as to why Hillary hasn't been prosecuted yet. We'll have to see about that one as well.

At least you and I are making progress here though. You're no longer claiming that Hillary didn't break the law, albeit allegedly unknowingly.

The link is Trump is disorganized.

I want Trump to punish Hillary. He needs to punish her with a multiyear sentence to jail. A sentence of only a fine and community service would mean Trump failed to keep his campaign promise. I believe he will fail to convict her, but Trump should try with all his might because he promised.

How long are we waiting for Trump to make his move on his promises? These have a deadline in October 2020, the month before the next election. WWII was finished in less time and was bigger than all Trump’s promises put together. “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them,” tweeted Trump. I want to see the courageous Trump, not the disorganized Trump making excuses.

I found a historic example of another procrastinator like Trump: President James Buchanan. He aspired to be a president who would rank in history with George Washington. His inability to address the sharply divided partisans with a unifying principle on the brink of the Civil War has led to his consistent ranking by historians as one of the worst presidents in American history. Historians who participated in a 2006 survey voted his failure to deal with secession the worst presidential mistake ever made. Buchanan's view was that secession was illegal, but that going to war to stop it was also illegal, and so he avoided responsibility.

I'm not surprised that they fell in love:

Trump invites Philippines' Duterte to the White House
www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-39762742

Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte (R), assisted by Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence Go (L), speaking to US President Donald J. Trump during a phone call on the sidelines of the gala.

President Rodrigo Duterte spoke with Donald Trump on Saturday.

Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has been invited to visit the White House following a "very friendly" telephone call with Donald Trump.

The two leaders discussed Mr Duterte's controversial war on drugs, which has left more than 7,000 people dead in under 12 months.

According to the White House, Mr Trump "enjoyed the conversation", and has extended an invitation - although a date has not yet been set.

The visit will be a chance "to discuss the importance of the United States-Philippines alliance, which is now heading in a very positive direction," a statement from the White House said. A meeting between Mr Duterte and Barack Obama was called off last year after he called the US president a "son of a whore".

Mr Duterte has faced international condemnation for his brutal crackdown on drugs in the Philippines.

Thousands of suspected drug dealers have been killed by police or vigilante groups, and tens of thousands more have been rounded up and arrested.

The president - who, like Mr Trump, was elected last year - has also said he would be happy to kill the country's millions of drug addicts. Perhaps Duterte will encourage Trump to kill millions of American addicts? Perhaps Trump will think it is an excellent idea. Obama declared Duterte had evil ambitions and was murdering Filipinos, which caused Duterte to tell Obama "go to hell". I can't see that happening to Trump.

LOL.... that's okay. Once again I'll take your dodging of the issue as your concession of the issue. This is becoming our regular thing here, isn't it Second?

NOTE TO FUTURE: Game. Set. Match.

The only thing I can say about your long thread dodging any acknowledgement that Hillary did break the law....

Yup. I'd like Trump to do at least a few of the things he promised on the campaign trail. It would be nice if for once in my life ANY politician did anything that they promised on the campaign trail.

Here's a homework project for you Second, since you like doing "research" so much.

How about you go back through every president in your lifetime and write up a list of all the failed campaign promises. I promise you that if you don't leave anything out it will end up being the longest post that was ever put on fireflyfans.net by a factor of three.

They're sure lucky they work in the Public Sector. If they worked in the Private Sector, not only would they all have been fired for incompetence, but they would have all been buried under class-action lawsuits for false advertising.

You got it backward. It is Trump who needs to prove the felonies in court since he is the one that said many times that Hillary is guilty of felonies (not trivial rule breaking and mishandling of unimportant and routine emails). If Trump won't bother to prove it (his Attorney General Jeff Sessions has all the resources in America to do that if he would only bother to do it) that is solid proof Trump was lying all along about Hillary. Hate to tell you this, but Trump is full of baloney.

Trump: Crazy Like a Fox, or Just Crazy?

Has the first 100 days of the presidency made Donald Trump nuts? You read all of Trump’s 100-day interviews and they are just bizarre.

Out of nowhere Trump tells us he would be “honored” to negotiate directly with the leader of North Korea, after weeks of threatening war. Out of nowhere he says he would consider a gasoline tax to pay for infrastructure. Out of nowhere he says he is considering breaking up the nation’s biggest banks. He also insists that his Obamacare replacement legislation contains protections for people with pre-existing conditions that it doesn’t.

There’s barely a dictator in the world for whom he doesn’t have praise. And he repeats a known falsehood — that Barack Obama wiretapped him — and tells reporters they should go find the truth, when, as president, he could get the truth from the F.B.I. with one phone call, and when pressed whether he stands by that allegation, answers, “I don’t stand by anything.”

Is this a political strategy unfolding or a psychiatric condition unfolding? I don’t know — continue at www.nytimes.com/2017/05/03/opinion/trump-crazy-like-a-fox-or-just-craz
y.html?_r=0

I found a believable answer in the comments to the NYTimes opinion: Trump's not crazy, he makes intentionally outrageous statements to set up a cover for the times when he makes unintentionally idiotic statements. He brings his daughter and son-in-law on staff so they can explain to him what's going on - they are literally the only people who won't rat him out.

When confronted with his lack of knowledge of foreign affairs, Donald Trump responded: ‘I know more about ISIS than the generals do, believe me.’ – from “Our World Outsmarts Us” by Robert Burton
https://aeon.co/essays/the-complexity-of-social-problems-is-outsmartin
g-the-human-brain

The article is illustrated by a cartoon from Puck magazine in 1909. Look at it carefully because the labels on the characters are hard to read. Once you do, then it makes perfect sense why that cartoon, The Laughter of the Gods, is on an article by a neurologist who is explaining that each of us at some point reaches the limits of our expertise and knowledge. Those limits make our misjudgments that lie beyond those boundaries undetectable to us.

Maybe the 19th-century French writer Alexandre Dumas said it best: ‘The difference between genius and stupidity is: genius has its limits.’

Trump’s health care bill is a betrayal of all his promises. With his limitations, does he understand what is in the bill? Maybe not.

Trumpcare does the opposite of what he says.

Having run a campaign during which he promised to cover everyone, protect Medicaid from cuts, and replace Affordable Care Act plans with “terrific” coverage, Trump is now behind a bill that cuts Medicaid, covers fewer people, and allows states to replace ACA plans with stingier coverage.

That’s all happening because the GOP is committed to rolling back the taxes that pay for the Affordable Care Act, delivering a financial windfall to high-income families even though Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin swore at his confirmation hearings that the Trump administration would not pursue tax cuts for the rich.

For me to get you to back down is as impossible as me getting Trump to back down on Trumpcare, as today's example. There is huge difference between his understanding of Trumpcare and what in the real world bill. Does that make him change his mind? Never. Are you changing your mind about Trump? Trump is doing fine enough on his own changing my mind about things, but it's going to take a hell of a lot more, dare I say WWIII, for me to ever truthfully admit that we aren't still better off than we would have been with another Clinton in office.

Don't try to turn this around on me or lump me in with opinions of others who don't tow your elitist lib-tard mentality. I'm at peace with who I am, flaws and all. Maybe you should do a little soul searching yourself. I couldn't even begin to imagine what your problems are, but I won't deny that rich people have them too even if I could never relate to or empathize with them.

Keep your judgement and your bullshit link posting you pretend are opinions to yourself. If I want to hear somebody mindlessly parrot the crap you post everyday I'll order cable TV and watch some CNN.

I don't watch Fox and I don't listen to Rush or any of that bullshit either. Don't call it "my" right wing news. You'll notice I don't go around posting any links by them here either.

You might end up being right about Trump at the end of the day. I'm not tied to him. I voted for somebody the establishment on both sides didn't want, and I voted against somebody that I saw as purely an evil person in Clinton. Every day that passes it seems that the first half of that was a wasted effort on my part, but at least it seems the Clinton Dynasty is dead.

I don't only vote for Right wingers either. Now's the time to start bringing some sanity back to the Democratic party. Show me somebody I can believe in.

Why is Trump nuts? Needless to say, Trump doesn't have a clue about what kind of health care Australia provides or whether it's better than ours. He's just whistling in the wind, like he always does.

Again, why is Trump nuts? Because for years conservatives have insisted that America has the best health care in the world. Normally, a statement like this would produce a huge blowback among conservatives. But conservatives all know that Trump has no idea what he's saying. Trump is babbling happily on TV and twitter while Congress kills off the most Australian-ish aspects of American health care.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Jo, you've always been a self important twat.

When did you decide to be a douche as well?

Care to try addressing the facts, again?

Or do you shoot nothing but blanks?

SECOND, you have thin skin AND you are nuts. Why discuss anything with you? And you're crappy at expressing your self, like Trump. SO bad at it that you can only repost what others have written. Apparently, you have no insight of your own. Don't try writing firefly fan fiction. You'd be horrible at it.
Fixed it for you.

I usually watch the NBC evening newz with Lester Holt. I'm on an antenna far frum any tranzmitterz, so I usually cant get CBS and ABC iz spotty.

Then therez Meet the Press with Chuck Todd and if I'm getting the signal, This Week with George Stefanopolous on sunday morning.

Most uv the newz on the TrumPutin scandal I get from Rachel Maddow on MSNBC on their website or Youtube.

Occasionally I'll turn on the radio on my alarm clock wich iz tuned to an AM rite wing station kuz it haz the strongest signal. No suprize that their newz iz 'different'. Sumtimez I'll watch sum FOX Cable Newz on Youtube to see how they are spinning wutever mess the GoPs are trying to get out uv.

Its not hard to see whoz lying wen they substitute opinion for fact or make claimz that are eazily disproven.

A rite wing frend uv mine often sendz me links to storyz that 'prove' hiz case agenst Obama, Hillary, or whoever and, with no exceptionz, I hav debunked the story within minits with real facts.
