You are joking. He is not that clever. For an example of him saying and tweeting one thing, over and over, then doing the opposite without thinking: Trump had a very clear position on NAFTA -- he would withdraw from the treaty. Now his position is foggy and confused. He had a position. He knew what he would do, then he let it all fall apart. His position became chaos on NAFTA. How close did Trump came to leaving NAFTA?

People inside the White House also called the new Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue. Perdue had only been confirmed, like, a day or two earlier. And they called him in, [saying], “You need to come over here now! You need to! He’s about to withdraw from NAFTA.”

So Sonny Perdue literally asked his staff to draw up a map of the bits of America that had voted for Donald Trump and the bits of America that do well from exporting grain and corn through NAFTA. [The map] showed how these two areas often overlap. So he went in, said to Donald Trump, “Actually, Trump America, your voters, they do pretty well out of NAFTA.” And the president said, “Oh. Then maybe I won’t withdraw from NAFTA.”

Trump blamed NAFTA for the loss of 5 million manufacturing jobs to Canada and Mexico since it was enacted in 1994. If Trump is right, how can he justify NOT withdrawing from NAFTA, as promised? That is 5 million manufacturing jobs Trump threw away for the benefit of 1 million farmers receiving slightly higher incomes by exporting slightly more grain and corn. Does what Trump is doing seem right to you? Or is Trump nuts?

So your example is a President renigging on a campaign promise. Just like every... single... president... ever.

You all thought GWB was stupid too, and look where that got us.

You should probably focus on things like this, instead of keeping up with the Russian narrative. It might be too late though. With 150 days of bitching and whining about ghosts and phantoms, you're solidifying Trumps base so much that they're just about willing to overlook any of his actual sins.

Yeah, he's dumb like a fox.

Did not Trump's base want Trump to withdraw from NAFTA? Did not Trump's base believe that 5 million manufacturing jobs were lost because of NAFTA? So has Trump's base changed their minds about NAFTA just because 1 million farmers will sell a little less corn to Mexico if NAFTA is cancelled? Will Trump's base happily sacrifice the lives 5 million factory workers because Trump changed his mind for no reason other than Trump's agricultural secretary said that keeping NAFTA will keep 1 million farmers voting for Trump? I'd say Trump's base is pretty much off-base on NAFTA. It is like Trump's base is as confused about what they believe about NAFTA as Trump is.

Let me put it this way, Second.....

I don't watch FOX news, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that there isn't a whole lot of coverage of anything about NAFTA on there right now.

Figure the rest out.

I watch Fox and it is not covering NAFTA because it doesn’t want to remind voters that Trump was to bring back millions of manufacturing jobs by withdrawing from foreign trade treaties, especially NAFTA, and it would all be free of cost to the voters. It was a tremendous bargain for the voters! This was what Trump voters once believed Trump would do for them, but now have forgotten the bargain because Fox isn’t reminding them daily. In a contest, the Fox commentator always wins against the economic knowledge of the typical Trump voter. That is why the commentator is paid millions per year by Fox while the Trump voter earns only thousands per year. There is really no contest about who is smarter and who deserves more pay.

Well you've figured half of it out.

Why is Fox News able to get away with not talking about NAFTA though? Why is it so easy for Trump supporters to forget about things like NAFTA and promises about it?

Could it be that the rest of the MSM is obsessed with something else?

Much to the disappointment of the deep state - which is now, in response, vigorously pursuing a soft coup - Trump has not started WWIII yet.

He's certainly far more sane than the embedded war-hawks.

And all is right with the world.

I hope you realize that there's ZERO evidence for anything he said. Except for Trump meting with high level Russians. But I guess Trump should be throwing a tantrum with the only other major nuclear power on the planet instead of meeting with them. Because THAT'S REALLY helpful.

BTW, Maher is a Zionist, who holds the welfare of Israel above that of the US. I wonder what slight, or imagined slight, against Israel Maher is reacting to. Maybe it's that Trump went to Saudi Arabia first, before paying homage to Israel.

MEANWHILE, Trump has not started WWIII yet. And all is right with the world.

"Therez a rapidly growing mountain."

Of CLAIMS. Comey said this. Trump said not. The CIA said this. But provided no evidence.

You, apparently, don't know the meaning of the word EVIDENCE. It means something other than someone's say-so ... especially someone's anonymous say-so, made without any indication that they're in any position to know anything at all.

Let's go through some of those CLAIMS.

The FBI concluded that Russia 'hacked the elections', based on the CLAIM that Russia hacked Hillary's server AND that the information was distributed with Russia's help.

Where did the CLAIM that Russia hacked Hillary's server come from? It came from CrowdStrike. The FBI was never provided with actual evidence by CrowdStrike, NOR WAS IT ALLOWED TO EXAMINE THE SERVER. The CLAIM came from a biased private party and was unsupported by any actual evidence.

The FBI also CLAIMED that Russia distributed the information with Russia's help, but again provided no EVIDENCE to back up that CLAIM. And the people who received the information - wikileaks - received it handed to them in person, by a person known to them who was part of the campaign. So not only does the FBI have no EVIDENCE, its CLAIM was directly contradicted by people with first-hand knowledge.

Golden showers - have you seen any EVIDENCE for that? Neither have I.

Trump shared 'classified' information? That was according to anonymous sources. Were they there? How do they know? Who are they? And for those who actually WERE at the meeting - "White House officials involved in the meeting said Trump discussed only shared concerns about terrorism." Once again we have CLAIMS made by anonymous sources, without EVIDENCE - or even a plausible story - directly contradicted by people who were there who have first-hand knowledge.

Now I know I haven't covered absolutely every ridiculous story weak-mined people believe, but enough to highlight how truly stupid they are.

Let's not. 1kiki is no different (other than never being invited onto TV) than Newt Gingrich, who was on Fox and Friends with an opinion that Special Counsel Robert Mueller should stop investigating Trump and instead investigate Hillary for murdering Seth Rich. Newt's opinions, facts and advise about Russia/Trump are worthless, as are 1kiki's. Both of you are nutty partisans. Only Mueller's opinion will be of importance in the world. We will eventually find out what is on Mueller's mind if Trump does not fire Mueller and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein too soon for Mueller to form an opinion.

This is what Newt was selling as he diverts attention away from Trump:
Quote:

“We have this very strange story now of this young man who worked for the Democratic National Committee, who apparently was assassinated at 4 in the morning, having given WikiLeaks something like 53,000 emails and 17,000 attachments,” Gingrich said.

“Nobody’s investigating that, and what does that tell you about what’s going on? Because it turns out, it wasn’t the Russians. It was this young guy who, I suspect, was disgusted by the corruption of the Democratic National Committee. He’s been killed, and apparently nothing serious has been done to investigative his murder. So I’d like to see how [Robert S.] Mueller [III] is going to define what his assignment is.”

I coud spend an entire day asking Hannity or O'Rielly or any other Trump supporter to explain every individual Russian connection fact and they'd still be spouting 'zero evidens'.

To connect the dots, you first haf to get them to admit that the paje iz not blank.

Wen the entire Trump gang iz in the slammer, there will be a flood uv conspirasy theory books about how Hillary & Bill conived to put them there.

1kiki, the URLs disappeared from your response. When you relist them, use www.bitly.com to shorten them. For example, your Forbes opinion piece becomes http://bit.ly/2qGUSph

I ought to mention that Special Counsel Robert Mueller may read your references and opinion pieces, but his legal opinion about Russia/Trump might not match your opinion. Only his opinion has any real weight in the world, except if Trump fires him before he forms that opinion since Trump is known to be rash and unthinking.

1kiki's a liar and a troll. The proof of this always finds a way to establish itself. In this case, it's in her denials that there is evidence of Trumps acting improperly. In her denials of Russia interfering in our elections.

It may come out soon that Trump introduced Flynn to the Russians in the first place. If so, I'm sure he and his family will feel a pressure unmatched by the pressure they feel today.

Excellent! I look forward to it.

Now, also for clarity, will you be attempting to show that the Trump campaign had "contacts" with Russia?

That Russia "hacked" our elections?

Or that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia?

Or is colluding with Russia now?

Or will you be simply showing that the Trump administration had 'contacts' with Russia? (which BTW I would expect to occur as part of a normal Presidency.)

Trump is so crazy he handed the smoking gun to Lester Holt on TV
www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/5/22/15655296/impeach-trump

Watergate is the template Trump was following without even realizing what he had done.

Watergate began with clear evidence of what was clearly a crime — the break-in at Democratic National Committee headquarters — which then led to an investigation of who was involved, which led, eventually, to the discovery of a secret taping system inside the Oval Office. The quest to get the contents of the tape revealed to the public then became its own drama.

But when the tapes were finally heard they contained a “smoking gun” — clear evidence that Nixon had tried to use the powers of his office to stymie an FBI investigation. In the crucial conversation, Nixon told his chief of staff, H.R. Haldeman, to call in the CIA and tell them, “The president believes that [the investigation] is going to open the whole Bay of Pigs thing up again. And, ah, because these people are plugging for, for keeps, and that they should call the FBI in and say that we wish for the country, don’t go any further into this case, period!”

There it was. The question had been whether Nixon himself was engaged in the Watergate cover-up. That tape proved he was. And that was it. The Watergate saga took a long time, but two days after the tape was released, Republican congressional leaders went to the White House to tell Nixon it was over. Two days after that, Nixon resigned.

In Trump’s case, there’s no need for extensive litigation over a secret tape because the smoking gun already aired in the form of an interview with NBC News’s Lester Holt, where Trump explained his reasons for firing Comey. Though his White House had said Comey was fired after Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein wrote a memo concluding Comey’s handling of the Clinton email case was indefensible, Trump, in a moment of admirable candor, explained that this wasn’t true.

“In fact when I decided to just do it, I said to myself,” Trump told Holt, “‘You know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story, it’s an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should have won.”

A contemporaneous memo from Comey further confirms that Trump specifically asked him to stop investigating former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. Rosenstein confirmed Thursday to members of the United States Senate that Trump had already made up his mind to fire Comey before Rosenstein wrote the memo that the White House later briefly claimed was the basis for Comey’s firing. Here, then, is the timeline, which is now publicly known, and widely accepted:

In February, President Trump met with FBI Director James Comey and asked Comey to drop investigations of Michael Flynn and tell the public that Trump’s ties to Russia were not under investigation. Trump also repeatedly denounced the whole idea of an investigation in public statements and tweets.
In March, Comey clarified to Congress and the public that a very real, very serious, ongoing investigation was underway.
In April, Trump fired Comey. He put out an implausible pretext for the firing, and then quickly got bored with the thin deception and explained on national television that he really fired Comey because he was frustrated about the Russia situation.

That’s the entirety of the case. Trump was meddling with an FBI investigation, he fired the FBI director when he wouldn’t go along with it, then he lied about why he’d fired the FBI director, and then later he confessed the truth. That the facts have emerged so quickly is disorienting, but it shouldn’t blind us to the basic reality that the whole saga has played out. And in terms of Trump’s basic unfitness to continue in office, there is little need for further investigation.

Meh, you're making a mountain out of a molehill. The situation with Nixon was far different - not only had a demonstrable crime been committed (as opposed to the current situation where it's even hard to get a bead on what, or who, is supposedly being investigated) Nixon did so much more.

Let me outline for you what Nixon's staff - and Nixon himself - had done:

The Committee to Re-elect the President (CRP) had funded the Watergate burglars. The people involved in handling the CRP slush fund included Jeb Magruder and Maurice Stans (CRP members), and John Mitchell (while serving as Attorney General). Those involved in the cover-up were top aides Haldeman and Ehrlichman, and White House Counsel John Dean, who Nixon fired in attempt to deflect blame. Attorney General Kleindienst resigned. Nixon himself was involved in the cover-up

Quote:

It's impossible to list all the varied ways the White House attempted to impair investigations from the grand jury, from the special Senate committee eventually formed to deal with the scandal, and from the independent counsel appointed to investigate the affair. But here are a few:

* Within days of the break-in, Nixon decided to ask the CIA to disrupt the FBI's investigation of the incident, on the grounds that it concerned matters of national security; the CIA, however, resisted the order.

* Throughout the FBI's early investigation, White House counsel Dean sat in on interviews with witnesses and got regular updates from Gray.

* The White House paid hush money to co-conspirators, including $75,000 to Hunt personally; Nixon was caught on tape discussing the arrangements with Dean.

* Nixon tried, to no avail, to have aides manufacture dictatape evidence to give to Judge Sirica.

* Nixon implied to Ehrlichman that they should prevent Dean from continuing to cooperate with investigators by offering him clemency in exchange for keeping his mouth shut.

* Ehrlichman ordered Colson to offer clemency to Hunt in exchange for silence.

SECOND, this is not Watergate! This is more like the incessant investigation into Bill Clinton's sex life. I'm as fed up with your current obsessive behavior as I was with the GOP's endless, pointless investigations into irrelevant events. Please stop trying to force your big fat theory onto the tiny set of facts.

The investigation is STILL underway, although at this point I sure would like to know what, exactly, in being investigated because the goal seems to be wandering all over the place.

But I think it's nice of you to try and save JO from having to follow thru on his promise.

I've got another mountain for you to make a molehill out of -- if Trump ordering his staff to lie is a molehill:

Most presidents would worry that if you order the staff of the Council of Economic Advisers to make up fake numbers, they will leak that to the Wall Street Journal.

But perhaps the biggest part is that normally presidents are trying, on some level, to work with Congress to get things done. Congress needs to use Congressional Budget Office numbers when legislating, so a fake White House forecast doesn’t help a president’s allies on the Hill. In effect, Trump is simply tossing congressional Republicans a hot potato — telling them that he is disavowing responsibility for any of the trade-offs inherent in governing, and that the responsibility is all on them to work things out.

I suspect the as-yet-unidentified crime that Trump did not want investigated by Comey is about numbers. Not the fake numbers Trump ordered to be used on his economic forecast to justify his budget, but he is worried about the fake numbers on his income tax returns. He is certainly acting squirrelly about releasing those documents, isn't he?

The special council needs to look at the tax returns for Trump's family of companies. That would be more damning than taking depositions about what Trump said in private to who. Trump will deny everything said, anyway, but he can't deny that those are his tax returns and that if he lied on them, his lies saved him from paying billions in taxes. There is a big difference between being audited by an accountant at the IRS and being tax audited by 50 agents of the FBI.

If Trump would order his White House staff to lie on the federal budget numbers, he would lie on his tax returns, since that is more beneficial to his net worth.

Once again you show your ignorance on the subject of tax returns.

The IRS already knows what is in them. If there was anything illegal in them, we'd already know about it because Trump would be in handcuffs.

Don't believe me? Ask Al Capone if he gave the IRS permission.

I assume he isn't releasing them to the public because he doesn't want to inadvertently give morons like Rachel Maddow a $20Million check when she spends the next 3 years breaking it down for the sheep.

The FBI compared Al Capone's known expenditures to his claimed income. The IRS could not do what the FBI could. The IRS did not have field agents making estimates of how much Capone spent on booze, hotels, and parties.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Capone#Trials

As an example of how to cheat on taxes without being caught by the IRS, if Trump borrowed Russian money for a golf course, then they "forgave" part of the loan because the restaurant income and golf club fees collected weren't enough to service the loan, the amount "forgiven" by the Russians would be reportable income on Trump's taxes. But what if Trump did not report it? The IRS would never know because it is strictly hush-hush between Trump and his Russians. It is no-longer hush-hush when FBI agents with search warrants visit Trump's accountants to see who was paid and when they were paid.

You're really dealing in a lot of theoreticals here.

Why would trumps accountants know about anything that wasn't reported in his taxes? It's not as if H&R Block would be able to tell the IRS how many unclaimed tips a waitress got over the year.

Why would somebody running for President expose himself like this and leave a bunch of loose ends lying all around?

Why would the GOP have allowed Trump to be their guy in the first place if there was even any real suspicion that he had been a tax cheat, since that would be so easily provable? Seeing as how almost the entire GOP was against Trump the whole way too, why didn't they chase this phantom themselves?

As for the FBI being able to do what the IRS is not able to do, that was still done against Al Capone without his permission and even his knowledge. If the IRS suspects that his tax returns are bogus, there's nothing stopping them from having the FBI investigate it. For all we know they already are.

I don't know what tax scams Trump has run, but just from looking at his fake numbers in his federal budget, he is the kind of character who would cheat the IRS. That ain't theoretical. I ought to give some numbers:

In the United States, the IRS estimate of the 2001 tax gap was $345 billion. For 2006, the tax gap is estimated to be $450 billion. A more recent study estimates the 2008 tax gap in the range of $450 to $500 billion, and unreported income to be approximately $2 trillion.

Even when Trump is trying to be adult, he is not authentically trying. On his budget, Trump isn’t even remotely in the neighborhood of a blueprint that Congress could use if they were so inclined. He’s taken the vast technical and analytical resources of the executive branch and effectively thrown them all in the trash can.

The underlying issue here is the slapdash process through which his tax plan was released. Trump’s economic team was busy working on the difficult problem of designing a revenue-neutral tax plan when someone showed Trump a New York Times op-ed by Steve Forbes, Larry Kudlow, Arthur Laffer, and Stephen Moore.

Trump summoned staff to talk about the op-ed. His message: Make this the tax plan.

SIG likes to post old posts of her criticizing Trump. She is attempting to show us she weighted each candidates qualities fairly and objectively. She does this because she thinks we are stupid. That we are incapable of navigating through here subjective and agenda driven trolling. That we are blind and incapable of understanding what she was up to at the time. Below is a link started by her designed to destroy one candidate while she only criticized the other. One need not look further than the first two posts to see how fair and objective she was going to be towards Hillary, and how I would respond to her going forward.

Being a Russian troll she would of course push for Trump, while leavening herself room to attack Trump if he should buck up against Russia. After all, the winner would be the next American president.

Because Trump won she finds herself in a unique situation. One where she needs to criticize Trump, while deflecting from why he should be removed from office.

No. But it's besides the point.

He's only "hiding" his returns from the MSM and the American people. Agencies within the Government already know what are in them, and if they suspect anything nefarious it is within their purview to have it investigated. That's how tax returns work. Nobody is above that law.

How you could get to adulthood and not know that tens of millions of Americans successfully cheat on trillions of dollars in taxes? They never will be forced to pay.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_evasion_in_the_United_States

Income tax collection is an honor system for the income that does NOT appear on W-2 forms sent in by employers and 1099 forms sent by banks to the IRS. NONE of Trump's income is on a W-2 or a 1099. (Well, maybe 1099s that he fills out himself to himself, deciding whatever he wants his income to be on paper.)

The IRS is depending upon Americans' basic honesty. They depend on Trump's basic honesty. If he cheated intelligently, he can get away with it, despite IRS audits, until the FBI checks his returns. There a reason why he established hundreds of corporations: the extreme complexity frustrates an IRS auditor so Trump could heroically cheat like the champion he is. I truly admire his rational dedication to the Self-interest Theory of taxable income reporting.

All this Trumpian chit-chat may have real world effects, and I don't just mean on fireflyfans.net's "Real World Event Discussions". For example:

America’s national obsession with White House revelations tumbling out on a daily (sometimes hourly) basis appears to be sapping productivity.
https://qz.com/989296

Productivity figures bounce around, so it’s too early to draw a definitive line to political distractions, but management consultant Bill Catlette, former head of human resources at FedEx, isn’t surprised. He blames the political turmoil he sees at workplaces around the country. “The workforce is more disengaged and distracted than it ever has in my lifetime,” he said told Quartz.

Catlette is now advising executives dealing with political angst invading the workplace from both conservatives and liberals. While everything from inefficient managerial structures to legalized marijuana can affect productivity, politics has shot up the ladder of concerns. “It’s beyond distraction,” he said. “It’s dysfunctional.”

For HR departments, it feels like a siege. One consultant described it as having the March Madness basketball tournament on all the time.

. . . .

Labor productivity has averaged an annualized growth rate of 1.1% since the end of 2007, according to the Bureau of Labor. That’s a historic low. No one is quite sure what’s driving the steady erosion of American productivity and, consequently, living standards. A politicized workplace surely isn’t helping.

Yes. Boring. The big story is "After forgoing headscarves in Saudi Arabia, Trumps wear veils at Vatican". I could not bring myself to read why the Trumps wore veils, but for you I will:
Quote:

"Per Vatican protocol, women who have an audience with the Pope are required to wear long sleeves, formal black clothing, and a veil to cover the head," Stephanie Grisham, spokesperson for the first lady, said in a statement to CNN.
As always with Trump, there was -- what is the word? -- hypocrisy:
Quote:

Both Melania and Ivanka Trump eschewed headscarves during their recent visit to Saudi Arabia, a conservative Muslim country where women are expected to wear headscarves. The move contradicted President Donald Trump’s old criticism of former first lady Michelle Obama for making a similar decision.

It might have something to do with... I dunno, The Pope. I didn't see anywhere that Trump was meeting with the Muslim equivalency of the Pope in the Muslim equivalency of the Vatican. That, and Christians haven't been known to mutilate women's genitalia or throw gays off of buildings for quite a while. Islam is a religion that deserves to be disrespected.

The ONLY reason that American or any other women should wear the expected garb when in Muslim nations is for fear of their life or getting raped. I'm sure there was no danger of that with Secret Service around.

I'm curious as to why Trump would go along with the Catholic stuff though. He doesn't strike me as a particularly religious guy. I think he was trolling again.

CNN says what Trump is doing on this foreign trip is being, well, Trump. The dirty little secret of foreign trips is that the accomplishments and deals are all worked out in advance. What the President does in these settings is smile for the camera, shake a bunch of hands and give short speeches touting how important the relationship is between America and fill-in-the-blank country.

This is exactly the sort of thing Trump has spent the last few decades of his life doing. He excels as the public face, the salesman, the cheerleader for a brand. For years, the brand he was selling was Trump. Now the brand he is selling is America.

The duties of a president while in Washington are far more complicated. Rather than photo-ops and heavily-scheduled public appearances, Trump has to construct a policy agenda and work with Congress to pass it.

CNN gets a little snarky about the truth: Trump should figure out how to effectively govern in Washington. And you can't learn that in Rome.

I just heard that recently while in Isreal Trump wore this:

Now I know he was trolling the religion of Islam and their barbaric ideologies.

Good.

Trump also trolls the concept of "loyalty".

In his first and best-known book, The Art of the Deal, Trump writes a passage that is one of the most remarkable ever set to paper by a future American president. It’s deeply telling about Trump’s views on the distinction between integrity and loyalty. Trump sings the praises of Roy Cohn — Joe McCarthy’s infamous legal attack dog later turned Trump mentor:

"Just compare that with all the hundreds of “respectable” guys who make careers out of boasting about their uncompromising integrity but have absolutely no loyalty. They only care about what’s best for them and don’t think twice about stabbing a friend in the back if the friend becomes a problem. What I liked most about Roy Cohn was that he would do just the opposite. Roy was the kind of guy who’d be there at your hospital bed long after everyone else had bailed out, literally standing by you to the death."

Trump, ironically, would not stand by Cohn’s deathbed as he perished of AIDS; instead, he disavowed his friend.
