If I remember correctly, Adam Schiff tried two different tacks which contradicted each other: 1) There's no evidence behind the memo, and besides... 2) The info behind the memo is classified and therefore is (should be?) unknowable to the general public. Like all releases, this one stands or falls on the weight of the evidence behind it. But seeing as how FBI-ers have been demoted, reassigned, or have "retired" from position on likely related matters, there's probably some truth behind the memo. ----------- Pity would be no more, If we did not MAKE men poor - William Blake America is an oligarchy http://www.fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?tid=57876]

Then, find out how many and which other Warrants has this corrupt Judge granted? The FISA Court rarely turns down a request for FISA warrant, no matter who the judge, so it's a systemic problem not an individual one. The whole FISA system needs to be revamped, including negating large parts of the so-called Patriot Act. In addition, that hub of electronic storage in Utah? IMHO needs to be dismantled. But those are stories for another day. In reality, all any Congressional Committee can do is kvetch and finger-wag. A SPECIAL PROSECUTOR should be appointed by the DOJ to investigate the FBI, CIA, NSA, and wherever the responsibility leads. Specifically, the person(s) who wrote and signed the affidavit requesting the FISA warrant should be investigated and, if applicable, prosecuted. And since responsibility goes up the chain of command as well as sideways to other participants, the CoC needs to be held suitably accountable, up to and including Obama. Jeff Sessions recused himself from the "Russiagate" investigation, but IMHO this is sufficiently separated from that so he should be able to get that Special Prosecutor going. Let's see if he puts on his big-boy pants and does what needs to be done.

Quote: FISA Court Has Rejected .03 Percent Of All Government Surveillance Requests After last week’s revelations extensive National Security Agency surveillance of phone and internet communications, President Barack Obama made it a point to assure Americans that, not to worry, there is plenty of oversight of his administration’s snooping programs. “We’ve got congressional oversight and judicial oversight,” he said Friday, referring in part to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), which was created in 1979 to oversee Department of Justice requests for surveillance warrants against foreign agents suspected of espionage or terrorism in the United States. But the FISC has declined just 11 of the more than 33,900 surveillance requests made by the government in 33 years, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday. That’s a rate of .03 percent, which raises questions about just how much judicial oversight is actually being provided. “The FISA system is broken,” Marc Rotenberg, executive director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center, told the Journal. “At the point that a FISA judge can compel the disclosure of millions of phone records of US citizens engaged in only domestic communications, unrelated to the collection of foreign intelligence…there is no longer meaningful judicial review.”

If you can find and prove malicious intent you might have something You don't need to prove "intent" to void a warrant based on bad information. And once the warrant is voided, all of the information gathered under that warrant becomes inadmissible. Also, you don't need to prove "intent" to indict people on security breaches. Altho Hillary got off scot-free for her illegal insecure server because Comey excused her on the basis of lack of intent, "intent" is not required for prosecution.

Sorry, but you can't fire people because they hate Trump (or Clinton, or Bush, or Obama, Or Reagan, or...). If you can find and prove malicious intent you might have something - but that's not here. Carter Page had enough contacts with enough Russians that he deserved to be watched - that's basic national security.

It is really difficult to keep track of the whole neverending laundry list of crimes and criminal actions. And is anybody revisiting the decision (by Senate Majority Leader RINO Mr. Chao, IIRC) to not appoint Special Counsel?

You, yourself have rendered your opinion moot in the Land of Liberty, Justice, and Freedom. Carter Page is hardly "an innocent American." I love how people have no clue of who he is or his history and yet rush to defend him. Do some reading. Also, he is not the guy who was going to bring Trump down, so why Team Trump chose to circle their wagons over him is curious. Must have nothing else or because they got to say, "The Dossier" over and over and over. They know how well simple phrases work with their base. "Dossier? Hey Luther, isn't that French!?!" So The Memo flopped, but cheer up, there's light ahead... wait for it... Phase II! Nunes is quickly trying to rush past the embarrassment that was Phase I. They're laughing stocks now, how much worse will it get with Phase II? I can't wait. Fwiw: Trump obviously signed off on this joke, grabbed some fries and a Big Mac and went down to FLA and waited for the returns to see if there was enough outrage so could use it to justify firing Rosenstein. If you can't see that you have the brains of a turnip. #ReleaseTheTaxes

WRONG: The memo makes the case for inadmissibility of evidence. That one must have "malicious intent" to be prosecuted. WRONG: There are all kinds of security breaches and process crimes which do NOT require "intent" That the Trump Administration is "circling the wagons" around Carter Page. WRONG: The memo exposes the deep state's acting against an elected President. That the memo "flopped". WRONG: The memo has already had a significant impact on Americans of all parties (or none) and only extreme partisans and propagandists (such as yourself) would say otherwise. You're building up quite a history of being stupid and irrelevant. Pretty soon, YOUR impact will be circling the drain.

I guess you missed the part where the FISA court was lied to, multiple times, as the FBI presented " intel " which wasn't vetted and actually was little more than paid for op-research by a political party ( Democrats ) , which is laughably the OPPOSITE of what is required for a warrant to be issued.
