The President has zero control over inflation, unless there are price controls, which there are not. The rich American Capitalists control inflation, adjusting prices upwards to take away all the money of poor white trash. You can best see that in gasoline prices. The news is the same for all refineries, and the President has zero control, unless this was WWII, when the Federal government set gasoline prices despite the screaming objection of all Republicans that price controls are Communism:

The world’s largest oil companies are churning out massive profits in the first few months of the year even as they face uncertainties created by Russia’s war with Ukraine.

Democrat's policy led us to where we are now. It didn't happen overnight. It isn't going to get any better before November, and it's very unlikely it will be better by the end of 2024 either.

Keep lying dude.

The only people voting Democrat until this gets fixed is rich white racists.

Let me be clear to you: America has forever been on this path of making Capitalists richer every year, which is fine with me, but if you're poor white trash, Capitalism is hard for you.

This is a very excellent way to run a country in my opinion. And I thank the voters for making it happen, even if the voters in bottom 50% didn't understand what they did to themselves, over and over, at each election:
The top 1% of Americans have about 16 times more wealth than the bottom 50%
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/23/how-much-wealth-top-1percent-of-americ
ans-have.html

Federal Reserve data indicates that as of Q4 2021, the top 1% of households in the United States held 32.3% of the country's wealth, while the bottom 50% held 2.6%.

You posted dozens of times: "Nobody cares" about Ukraine. That is not a sign of sanity or successful living, but don't worry. You are not alone. That is the same careless feeling with a majority of Trump voters I know in Texas. They don't care about the Ukraine/Russian war, although some of them are drifting in Signym's direction and becoming more and more like Tucker Carlson, who cares too much for Russia. https://www.google.com/search?q=tucker+carlson+putin

Instead, these Republicans (who keep insisting they are "independent" thinkers and can make a success of their life by their own work, but for the moment aren't particularly successful because of Democrats) are complaining that the money for Ukraine weapons should be going to them because they need help. I know these people. Help is wasted on them. What they need is a kick in the ass for what they did: get fired from jobs, get divorced, get drunk, get fat, get . . . the list of failures goes on forever. These people are Homer Simpson, but Homer has a wife, 3 children, a house, a cat and dog, a job at the power plant where he never gets permanently fired for incompetence. Homer can't take credit for anything good he has, although he convinces himself it was by his efforts he has this family.

Homer has all these people and things in his life despite his worst behavior. Outside of the Simpson's, in the real America, any of Homer's stupidity would ruin his life permanently. The real Homers have ruined themselves. The Homers of America need to fix themselves. No political party can do that job for them. But the Homers of America keep believing that voting once in while for a Republican can fix them. Too bad America isn't the Simpsons cartoon where Homer the failure bounces back into a success in 22 minutes or less. And the ultimate stupid belief of these Homers is that letting bigger, stronger Russia quickly destroy Ukraine is for the best because that would lower gasoline prices.

Can someone tell me what's going on with the Russian army? Nothing I've read truly seems to explain its incompetence.

James Stavridis:
"Another key shortcoming, which surprised me, is the lack of a strong corps of mid-grade professionals in the Russian navy crews. Called chief petty officers in the U.S. Navy, these are sailors with 10-15 years of seagoing experience who lead the sailors on the deck. They are the backbone of the U.S. Navy, and the absence of such a cadre is a major problem for the Russians. (The same weakness — a lack of strong noncommissioned officers — exists in the Russian land forces, a major factor in the problems they are encountering ashore since the Feb. 24 invasion.)

I recently compared notes on the Ukraine sea war with a retired U.S. surface-warfare captain. He reminded me that when he toured a Russian cruiser, the officers wore name tags on their uniforms, while the sailors wore only numbers. This mentality — a reminder that the Russian fleet is in part composed of conscripts — reflects a lack of a coherent chain of command. That can work in peacetime operations, but quickly breaks down in combat."

https://jabberwocking.com/somebody-please-explain-russia-to-me/

Maybe the troops have yet to hear a plausible reason why they should risk their lives fighting Ukraine. So they're very reluctant to do it.

They ran into Ukraine thinking the heavily eastern Russian side would join them. A miscalculation. Ukrainian military has been preparing for 8 years, Putin understood this as well, but gambled on superior numbers.

Fox News deals in Kremlin propaganda. So why not freeze Rupert Murdoch’s assets?

If NewsCorp’s owner were Russian, there would be no hesitation in applying sanctions.

If the west could find the courage, it would order an immediate freeze of Rupert Murdoch’s assets. His Fox News presenters and Russia’s propagandists are so intermeshed that separating the two is as impossible as unbaking a cake.

On Russian state news, as on Fox, bawling ideologues scream threats then whine about their victimhood as they incite anger and self-pity in equal measures. Its arguments range from the appropriation of anti-fascism by Greater Russian imperialists – the 40 countries supporting Ukraine were “today’s collective Hitler”, viewers were told last week – to the apocalyptic delirium of the boss of RT (Russia Today) Margarita Simonyan. Nuclear war is my “horror”, she shuddered, “but we will go to heaven, while they will simply croak”.

Russia would never give genuine western journalists airtime. But it can always find a slot for its favourite quisling: Fox News’s Tucker Carlson. He pushes out Russian propaganda lines or perhaps creates his own lies for Russia to use. Ukraine, not Russia, is the real tyranny. Nato provoked poor Vladimir Putin. The west is plotting to use biological weapons. Last week, he floated the theory that the war was not the result of an unprovoked invasion by a colonialist dictatorship but of the Biden administration’s desire to avenge Donald Trump’s victory in 2016.

It was a big hit in Moscow, reported BuzzFeed’s Julia Davis. “State TV propagandists loved it so much, Russia’s 60 Minutes included it not once, but twice in their evening broadcast – neatly bookended by the Kremlin’s war propaganda.”

Putin’s appeal to both the far right and the Chomskyan wing of the far left in Europe and North America is worthy of a study in itself. He was a dream for ultra-reactionaries: a white, Christian strongman, who was anti-liberal and anti-EU. His victories heralded a world in which might was right and morality was for losers.

In Europe, Russia’s atrocities have forced everyone from Arron Banks and Nigel Farage to Marine Le Pen and Matteo Salvini to find urgent reasons to change the subject. In the US, there remains a market for Putinism among a large minority of Republican voters. Their yearning for dictatorship, as evidenced by the support given to denying legitimate election results and to the fascistic forces that stormed Congress, is greater. The hatred of liberals in power is deeper.

What does that say about you?

Gazprom said it had received notification from Ukraine that the country would stop the transit of gas to Europe via the Sokhranivka interconnector from 0700 local time on Wednesday.

GTSOU, which operates Ukraine's gas system, said it would stop shipments via the Sokhranivka route from Wednesday, declaring "force majeure", a clause invoked when a business is hit by something beyond its control. The Russian company Gazprom said it saw no proof of force majeure or obstacles to continuing as before. Gazprom added that it was meeting all obligations to buyers of gas in Europe.

GTSOU CEO Sergiy Makogon told Reuters that Russian occupying forces had started taking gas transiting through Ukraine and sending it to two Russia-backed separatist regions in the country's east.

Ukraine's suspension of Russian natural gas flows through the Sokhranivka route should not have an impact on the domestic Ukrainian market, state energy firm Naftogaz head Yuriy Vitrenko told Reuters.

The Novopskov compressor station in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine has been occupied by Russian forces and separatist fighters since soon after Moscow began what it describes as a "special military operation" in February.

It is the first compressor in the Ukraine gas transit system in the Luhansk region, the transit route for around 32.6 million cubic metres of gas a day, or a third of the Russian gas which is piped to Europe through Ukraine, GTSOU said.

Russia’s Economy Facing Worst Contraction Since 1994

GDP may shrink 12% on sanctions, internal forecast shows

Finance Ministry sees worse contraction than Economy Ministry

Bloomberg News
May 9, 2022, 7:12 AM CDT
Updated on May 10, 2022, 3:12 AM CDT

Russia is facing the deepest economic contraction in nearly three decades as pressure from sanctions imposed by the U.S. and its allies mounts, according to an internal forecast by the Finance Ministry.

Gross domestic product is likely to shrink as much as 12% this year, deeper than the 8% decline expected by the Economy Ministry, according to people familiar with the estimates who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations. The government hasn’t released a public forecast since the invasion of Ukraine.

The Finance Ministry issued a statement Tuesday saying the report of the forecast was inaccurate. “Preparation of official macroeconomic forecasts does not fall under the Finance Ministry’s authority,” it said, noting that it “expects that the measures taken by the government and the Bank of Russia will make it possible to ease to a large extent the negative consequences of sanctions and ensure stable economic development.”

A 12% contraction would put the economic pain on par with the turmoil seen in the early 1990s, when Russia’s Soviet-era economy lurched toward capitalism with a contraction not seen since wartime.

“The main negatives are the oil embargo, the EU giving up Russian gas, along with more departures among foreign companies,” said Natalia Lavrova, chief economist at BCS Financial Group in Moscow. “All that will probably expand gradually, with a lot of negative carrying over in to 2023.”

Excluding those factors and based only on current sanctions, she forecasts a contraction of 10.8% in 2022 and about 5% in 2023.

The Bank of Russia said April 29 it expects a contraction between 8% and 10% this year. The International Monetary Fund forecast one of 8.5%, while a Bloomberg survey of economists found a median decline of 10.3%.

If the Finance Ministry’s forecast proves accurate, that would erase about a decade of economic growth, according to one person familiar with the forecasts.

Uncertainty about the outlook remains very high as the war continues and the U.S. and its allies discuss further sanctions, including on key exports like oil, the people said.

The press service at the Economy Ministry didn’t respond to a request for comment.

The list of anti-Ukraine Republican lawmakers is quickly growing

Little by little, with each new proposal, a few more Republicans sign up for the Anti-Ukraine list:

1 Republican in early March opposed a simple, nonbinding resolution declaring American support for Ukraine and demanding Russian President Vladimir Putin call a cease fire.

2 Republicans opposed a bill to protect religious freedoms in Ukraine

8 Republicans opposed suspending trade privileges for Russia in mid-March

17 Republicans opposed a resolution supporting Moldova, whose leaders fear their Ukraine-bordering nation could be Putin’s next target

19 opposed a similar resolution in support for Georgia

55 House Republicans opposed legislation to build secure telecommunications networks in Ukraine and neighboring nations on April 27.

57 Republicans opposed President Biden’s request for $40 billion in weapons and humanitarian aid on Tuesday.

These Republicans sum up their world view in blunt, nationalist terms. “Let me ask you,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said during an interview Thursday. “Has Vladimir Putin stopped his war in Ukraine because of all these sanctions? No, not at all. It hasn’t done anything. So, you know what? I care about our country, United States of America and our people. That’s it.” That's not it.

Greene does not even care about the USA, but since loudmouth Greene would not benefit, she didn't say it for her own good. You don't need to be a mind-reader to know Greene's mind. She has spilled her guts too many times for it to be a secret only she knows.

Renault Hands Lada Maker to Russia as Price of War Mounts

Tara Patel

(Bloomberg) -- In the months since the start of the war, Renault along with other foreign manufacturers have halted plants, blaming their inability to get crucial imported parts needed for production. Renault SA agreed to transfer its 2.2 billion-euro ($2.3 billion) Russian business to state entities for a symbolic sum in what amounts to a nationalization triggered by the war in Ukraine.

The French manufacturer’s majority stake in carmaker AvtoVaz -- which produces the top-selling Lada brand -- will go to a state-run automobile research institute known as NAMI, while the city of Moscow will take over an assembly plant near the Russian capital, according to a statement Monday.

A spokeswoman said the asset changed hands for a symbolic sum, previously reported as one ruble. Renault has the option to buy back its stake in AvtoVaz for the next six years.

The agreement marks the end of an era for Renault in Russia, where the automaker owned 68% of AvtoVaz, which runs a sprawling car plant on the banks of the Volga River dating back to Soviet times. Renault’s roots in the country, which grew to become its second-biggest market, stem from a $1 billion deal sealed in 2007 between former leader Carlos Ghosn and a top ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Renault’s pullout from Russia could also serve as a lesson for other companies that have announced withdrawals but have yet to finalize plans. Siemens AG last week said it would abandon operations in the county after more than a century, signaling an “orderly wind down” without giving details. Cement-maker Holcim Ltd. has also said it’s exiting Russia and will try to sell its three factories.

Withdrawal for Renault will carry financial pain. The carmaker cut its outlook in March for this year both for profit margin and free cash flow due to the risks posed by the war on its Russian operations. On Monday, the company confirmed the lowered outlook and a writedown in the first-half for the value of the Russian business, which was 2.2 billion euros at the end of last year.

“We are making a responsible choice toward our 45,000 employees in Russia, while preserving the group’s performance and our ability to return to the country in the future,” Chief Executive Officer Luca de Meo said in a statement.

Moscow’s Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said Renault’s plant near the city will start to produce Moskvich cars, a Soviet-era model, according to his blog.

In reviving the legendary Soviet-era brand, the move would take the site back in time. The plant first produced Ford cars in the 1930s before acquiring an Opel manufacturing line from Germany shortly after World War II and switching to the Moskvich nameplate. Moscow used the site to create a joint venture, while Moskvich itself went bankrupt a few years later.

AvtoVaz’s Togliatti plant will continue to make Ladas, Russia’s Industry and Trade Ministry said in its Telegram account. The Central Research and Development Automobile and Engine Institute, or NAMI, reports to the ministry.

The Russia debacle comes at a bad time for the carmaker, which was is still struggling to turn around following the crisis stemming from Ghosn’s 2018 arrest in Japan and the pandemic.

The company came under strong pressure from investors during the first weeks of the war in Ukraine as the most exposed vehicle manufacturer to Russia. It was also called out by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy for supporting Putin’s “war machine” by delaying a pullout.

Operational Hole

Renault had 45,000 staff in Russia so the transfer will leave a big hole in the automaker’s operations. The Lada was part of de Meo’s strategy for affordable passenger cars along with the Dacia brand.

The CEO is now considering a structural overhaul of Renault by hiving off electric-vehicle and combustion-engine entities.

The other partner in the AvtoVaz venture is Rostec State Corp., a Russian government-owned defense conglomerate headed by Sergey Chemezov, a close Putin ally who is under sanctions.

The Ukraine war is creating a jobs crisis in Russia

The Russian unemployment rate, which hovered around 4.6% in the first quarter of 2022, is likely to rise to 9% by the end of the year, according to a survey of analysts that Bloomberg conducted in April. Simultaneously, Russian year-on-year inflation shot up to nearly 18% in April. The combination will lead to a cost-of-living crunch that will hurt the average Russian citizen as well as the economy. According to a leaked document, Russian’s finance ministry expects the GDP to shrink by 12% this year, erasing a full decade of economic growth.

In February, 3 million Russians were unemployed. A further 2 million jobs are at risk this year, according to a report from the Center for Strategic Research, a think-tank in Moscow.

I have been hearing your words from other mouths since 1962. The people who were running their mouths would die poor and insisting that their sad lot in life was the fault of Democrats in faraway DC. The poor couldn't understand that it was their boss, standing right in front of them and their local retailers and bankers, taking all their money. It was NEVER the Democrats in Washington DC who were making these people poor. But poor people couldn't understand what is obvious to rich people who are taking poor people's money. Poor Russians follow poor Americans when Russians blame the EU and the West for Russian poverty rather than rich Russians, such as Putin, who are gathering all the wealth for themselves. If there was a vote today, Russians would reelect Putin because poor Russians are that stupid:

At their highest rating point, Presidents of the US don't achieve Putin's numbers at his lowest point. Russians are stupid to admire Putin, but what would you expect from the biggest country in the world that has an economy smaller than Canada and only slightly larger than South Korea? Russians have to be stupid to be this poor.

It appears the “no-limits” friendship Moscow and Beijing proclaimed weeks before Russia’s new war in Ukraine may, in fact, have limits.

In March, after the retaliatory sanctions against Moscow took effect, Chinese technology exports to Russia slumped.

My colleague Jeanne Whalen reported: “Chinese shipments of laptops to Russia fell by 40 percent in March compared with February, while exports of smartphones were off by two-thirds, Raimondo told reporters, citing the most recently available China trade data. Exports of telecommunications network equipment fell by 98 percent, she said.”

“The sanctions on Russia require companies worldwide to abide by the ban if they use U.S. manufacturing equipment or software to produce computer chips. Most chip factories around the world, including those in China, use software or equipment designed in the United States, analysts say.”

“‘I’m often asked, you know, are these export controls working? And I think the answer is an unmitigated, unqualified yes,’ Raimondo said. ‘I think they’re working because we have such a strong coalition of countries around the world participating in enforcing.’”

“The United States and 37 other countries designed the trade restrictions to cripple Russia’s military and high-tech economy after the country’s invasion of Ukraine. The rules ban the sale of computer chips, telecommunications equipment, lasers, avionics and maritime technology to many Russian buyers.”

In early May, Steve Holland, Trevor Hunnicutt and David Brunnstrom of Reuters reported “senior U.S. officials say they have not detected overt Chinese military and economic support,” though they remained wary of the relationship in general.

“‘We have not seen the PRC provide direct military support to Russia’s war on Ukraine or engage in systematic efforts to help Russia evade our sanctions,’ a Biden administration official told Reuters, referring to the People's Republic of China.”

“As well as steering clear of directly backing Russia's war effort, China has avoided entering new contracts between its state oil refiners and Russia, despite steep discounts. In March its state-run Sinopec Group suspended talks about a major petrochemical investment and a gas marketing venture in Russia.”

Yellen: Not legal for U.S. to seize Russian official assets

BONN, Germany, May 18 (Reuters) - The United States does not have legal authority to seize Russian central bank assets frozen due to its invasion of Ukraine, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said on Wednesday, but talks with U.S. partners over ways to make Russia foot the bill for Ukraine's post-war reconstruction are starting.

Yellen also said it is likely that the special license granted to allow Russia to make payments to its U.S. bondholders would not be extended when it expires next week, leaving Russian officials a fast-narrowing window to avoid its first external debt default since the 1917 Russian revolution.

Russia's Feb. 24 invasion of Ukraine is the central agenda item at this week's gathering of Group of Seven finance ministers, and Yellen is calling for increased financial support for the war-torn country, which the World Bank estimates is suffering $4 billion in weekly physical damage.

"I think it's very natural that given the enormous destruction in Ukraine, and huge rebuilding costs that they will face, that we will look to Russia to help pay at least a portion of the price that will be involved," Yellen told reporters here ahead of this week's meetings.

Some European officials have advocated that the EU, the United States and other allies seize some $300 billion in Russian central bank foreign currency assets frozen by sanctions. The assets are held abroad, but remain under Russian ownership.

"While we're beginning to look at this, it would not be legal now in the United States for the government to seize those" assets, Yellen said. "It's not something that is legally permissible in the United States."

U.S. Treasury officials have also expressed concerns about setting precedents and eroding other countries' confidence in holding their central bank assets in the United States.

President Herbert Hoover had 4 years to rectify the Great Depression, but he did nothing and yet he received only 7,060,023 votes fewer than FDR. Trump received 7,052,770 fewer votes than Biden, almost the same number as Hoover.

In the years after the election, Hoover claimed FDR was a Communist and Social Security was a Communist plot. Hoover claimed that there would not have been WWII if he were President and that the war would have been won sooner by himself. And every year the number of Democrats in Congress decreased because there were voters who believed what Hoover was saying. Hoover even set up an Institution to keep saying the same falsehoods after Hoover died. Hoover outlived FDR by 19 years, thanks to not having the stress of performing a job, but having the freedom to run his mouth. Hoover and Trump have a lot in common. The people who believed Hoover's falsehoods have much in common with Trump's voters.

Putin Loses Another Close Ally as Russia Closes in on 100 Days in Ukraine

Valentin Yumashev, the son-in-law of former Russian President Boris Yeltsin, has left his position as a Kremlin adviser, according to a Monday report by Reuters.

The media outlet cited two people close to the situation as saying Yumashev, described as a key element to Russian President Vladimir Putin's rise to power, quit his role in April. He is the latest of several prominent Russian officials to resign since Putin launched his war on Ukraine that will hit the 100-day mark Friday.

Fake mail in fraud votes.

I'm happy it happened. Republicans and more specifically, Trump himself would have been left holding the bag of a crap economy brought on by Democrats and the Legacy Media with the Covid terrorism they perpetuated against all of mankind for two years.

Now all of the blame is falling right where it fucking belongs.

I hope you're proud of them for stealing the election. You'll never see a Democrat in charge again for the rest of your life after 2024.

Things are about to get a LOT worse for everybody. Not just until November, but for a long, long time from now.

Thank you Democrats. You've finally managed to wake up the sheep. After decades of wondering how you would ever go about doing such a thing, I really started to believe that it wasn't even possible anymore.

Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has blasted European countries for blocking his plane from travelling through their airspace, forcing him to cancel a diplomatic trip to Serbia. Bulgaria, Macedonia and Montenegro refused a request from Moscow for the flight to pass through, because of sanctions imposed over Russia's military action in Ukraine.

The war in Ukraine could eventually help save the planet

Tom Friedman writes:

If we have a year or two of astronomical gasoline and heating oil prices because of the Ukraine war, “you are going to see a massive shift in investment by mutual funds and industry into electric vehicles, grid enhancements, transmission lines and long-duration storage that could tip the whole market away from reliance on fossil fuels toward renewables,” said Tom Burke, director of E3G, Third Generation Environmentalism, the climate research group. “The Ukraine war is already forcing every country and company to dramatically advance their plans for decarbonization.”

Indeed, a report published last week by the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air, and Ember, a global energy think tank based in Britain, found that 19 out of the 27 E.U. states “have significantly stepped up their ambition in terms of renewable energy deployment since 2019, while decreasing planned 2030 fossil fuel generation to shield themselves from geopolitical threats.”

A recent article in McKinsey Quarterly noted: “The 19th century’s naval wars accelerated a shift from wind- to coal-powered vessels. World War I brought about a shift from coal to oil. World War II introduced nuclear energy as a major power source. In each of these cases, wartime innovations flowed directly to the civilian economy and ushered in a new era. The war in Ukraine is different in that it is not prompting the energy innovation itself but making the need for it clearer. Still, the potential impact could be equally transformative.”

Throughout U.S. history, our nation has oscillated between two broad approaches to foreign policy, Michael Mandelbaum explained in an interview, echoing a key theme in his book: “One emphasizes power, national interest and security and is associated with Theodore Roosevelt. The other stresses the promotion of American values and is identified with Woodrow Wilson.”

While these two world views were often in competition, that was not always the case. And when a foreign policy challenge came along that was in harmony with both our interests and our values, it hit the sweet spot and could command broad, deep and lasting public support.

“This happened in World War II and the Cold War,” Mandelbaum noted, “and it appears to be happening again with Ukraine.”

Atho Russia is suffering from sanctions, global fuel and fertilizer trade is suffering even more, and the EU and Britain are suffering the most. Russia is self-sufficient in food and fuel, and in many manufactured goods (and it can always purcahse from China, India, or Turkey). Much of the EU and Britain, OTOH, are desperately dependent on imported energy and food.

The "East Med" gas fields are small and not developed. They can't replace a major gas supplier in the next ten years or...ever.

Meanwhile, Russia is selling its gas to China and India. I don't know what EU bureaucrats are smoking, but they're disconnected from reality. As the near future will show.

You can put this prediction along with "Russia will win in Ukraine" and "The EU economy will collapse".

Oh,also - "Russia's economy will come out stronger bc of sanctions".

ETA: I'm not happy about my predictions bc I'm living in the same clusterfuck as most of the posters here. But you can't fix a problem unless you acknowledge that it exists, and one of MANY of our fundamental problems is our incredibly warped foreign policy, which has nothing to do with Americans' interests and fuck-all to do with reality.

We're NOT the world's most powerful military. Our DoD is all about procuring high-cost shit that falls apart in service but makes a lot of $ for the MIC.

We're NOT the world's most powerful economy, that belongs to China.

And our ginormous stack of made-out-of-thin-air currency is about to revert to the thin air from which it came. The only bloc in worse shape than us is the EU.

Germany says it supports Poland and Romania in adapting their railways to enable the export of millions of tonnes of grain stuck in Ukraine due to a Russian sea blockade. European Union foreign ministers will discuss ways to free the millions of tonnes of grain stuck in Ukraine at today’s meeting.

Russia’s blockade of the export of millions of tonnes of Ukrainian grain is a war crime, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has said. “We call on Russia to deblockade the ports … It is inconceivable, one cannot imagine that millions of tonnes of wheat remain blocked in Ukraine while in the rest of the world people are suffering hunger,” he told the media as he arrived at a meeting of European Union foreign ministers in Luxembourg.

Signym, you are simply a liar. There is no doubt. Rather than the endless back-and-forth, where you lie, then lie again and again, here is very simple story where Russia can't blame anybody but itself for what it is doing:

The Kremlin said on Wednesday that Western sanctions against Moscow must be lifted before Russian grain could be delivered to international markets. "President (Vladimir) Putin said that in order for Russian grain volumes to be delivered to international markets, direct and indirect sanctions against Russia must be lifted," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on a conference call.

SECOND: Signym, you are simply a liar. There is no doubt. Rather than the endless back-and-forth, where you lie, then lie again and again, here is very simple story where Russia can't blame anybody but itself for what it is doing:

The Kremlin said on Wednesday that Western sanctions against Moscow must be lifted before Russian grain ...

Oh, you must have missed that word: RUSSIAN grain!

Russia is not "blockading" UKRAINIAN grain.

But since there are sanctions on Russian banks, which would be the recipients for payment for RUSSIAN grain, how can Russia get paid for its grain? You think that they should ship grain for free?

Signym, do you remember this tagline you have used for 7 months? "I believe in solving problems, not sharing them. SECOND: I am so very sorry I libelled you by labelling you a Russian Troll. I apologize for this. http://www.fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?bid=18&tid=64646&p=2 "

It was originally from http://www.fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?bid=18&tid=64646&mid=1

That comment was for a free comic book about Jayne and a Firefly Christmas Special.

Funny, but you attached my fake apology as the tagline to every post of yours for the last 7 months. Here is the shocking reveal: I was never sincere and you were too stupid to get it. Now go and edit your tagline, Signym.

As a test of Signym's intelligence, do you understand this? The free comic book is real and continues to be available: https://getcomics.info/other-comics/firefly-holiday-special-1-2021/

Why grain can’t get out of Ukraine

Exporters are struggling to get what’s left out, because Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea, like the key city of Odesa, are under blockade. Russian fleets are blocking the route, and the area is heavily mined.

The full story, which contradicts everything Russians and Signym write about grain, is at https://www.vox.com/23171151/ukraine-grain-wheat-russia-black-sea-odes

Russia Begins to Pay the Price for Sanctions

Imports in the auto parts market compose 95%; games and toys 92%; shoes 87%; telecommunications equipment 86%; clothing 82%; perfumes, cosmetics and detergents 57%, and so on. In April, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko admitted that she was surprised to discover that Russia does not even produce its own nails.

Pro-Kremlin Telegram channels have now begun to periodically publish expert opinions indicating the true situation in the Russian economy. Thus, the head of the Politgen analytical center, Yaroslav Ignatovsky, admitted that no import substitution has been carried out in the last eight years, and that the main sectors of the economy are seriously dependent on Western products, including equipment for the oil and gas sector. In the technological sectors (manufacturing of microchips and software), experts state that the country is lagging 10–15 years behind the West.

Even representatives of one of the leading think tanks, the Valdai Discussion Club, in its latest publication, cautiously note that Russia should not abandon all Western economic practices, and that a return to the Soviet model “can only increase the difficulties that Russia faces in present time.” The report is unusually blunt. In particular, its author admits that “Moscow . . . was clearly losing to the European Union and other Western players in the very model of economic integration,” did not accept its defeat and then “overturned the chessboard”, destroying all previously existing rules.

“It’s not clear how the new project related to the production of liquefied natural gas Arktika LNG2 will be completed. The ban on exports of ferrous metals to Europe and the United States caused Severstal and Magnitogorsk to announce a reduction in metal production by 20-40% in June . . . Most likely, the reduction will be around 50%,” says Zubarevich.

In June, the business newspaper Vzglyad also acknowledged that the Russian car market was in serious trouble, with “a collapse in sales of new cars in Russia such as has never happened before, even in the crisis year of 1998.” A third of dealerships are expected to close.

While experts, regardless of their views, agree that these difficulties will primarily affect the well-being of ordinary Russians, it is precisely this that worries the Russian authorities least of all. They have for a very long time been low on the list of the Kremlin’s concerns.
