Vote for this guy: "I'm going to Court tomorrow to fight for my name and reputation against a corrupt and racist Attorney General, Letitia James, who campaigned on "getting Trump," and a Trump Hating Judge who is unfair, unhinged, and vicious in his PURSUIT of me," Trump said on Sunday night on his social media platform Truth Social.

The trial comes a week after the judge presiding over the case found Trump liable for fraud and will largely concern the penalties he must face.

James is seeking at least $250 million in fines, a permanent ban against Trump and his sons Donald Jr and Eric from running businesses in New York and a five-year restriction on commercial real estate activities by Trump and his flagship Trump Organization.

Hail Caesar! Hail Trump - the American Caesar! I look forward to a Christian Caesar Ruling me. Nothing could possibly go wrong when a theocracy is ruling America. God is always Right.

‘Red Caesarism’ is rightwing code – and some Republicans are listening

The argument for a ‘red Caesar’ to rule US may seem esoteric but conservative thinktank behind idea has connections to Trump

The "New Right" now often discusses a Red Caesar, a leader whose post-Constitutional rule will restore the strength of his people. Not a Trumptard like "His People"? Too bad.

For the last three years, parts of the American right have advocated a theory called Caesarism as an authoritarian solution to the claimed collapse of the US republic.

Though on the surface this discussion might seem esoteric, experts who track extremism in the US say that due to their influence on the Republican party, the rightwing intellectuals who espouse these ideas about the attractions of autocracy present a profound threat to American democracy.

Their calls for a “red Caesar” are now only growing louder as Donald Trump has assumed dominant frontrunner status in the 2024 Republican nomination race. Trump has spoken openly of attacking the free press and has little regard for American constitutional norms should he win the White House again.

The idea that the US might be redeemed by a Caesar – an authoritarian, rightwing leader such as Trump – was first broached explicitly by Michael Anton, a Claremont senior fellow and Trump presidential adviser.

Anton has been an influential rightwing intellectual since in 2016 penning The Flight 93 Election, a rightwing essay in which he told conservatives who were squeamish about Trump “charge the cockpit or you die”, referencing one of the hijacked flights of 9/11.

He gave Caesarism a passing mention in that essay, but developed it further in his 2020 book, The Stakes, defining it as a “form of one-man rule: halfway … between monarchy and tyranny”.

Anton writes baldly that “the United States peaked around 1965”, and that Americans are ruled by “a network of unelected bureaucrats … corporate-tech-finance senior management, ‘experts’ who set the boundaries of acceptable opinion, and media figures who police those boundaries”.

His diagnosis of US social and cultural life unfolds under a series of subheadings that are almost comical in their disillusionment: “The universities have become evil”, “Our economy is fake”, “The people are corrupt”, “Our civilization has lost the will to live”.

Damon Linker, a senior lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania and an author of several books on the American right, was early in noticing the extreme right’s drift towards Caesarism.

Linker told the Guardian that Anton and others in the Claremont milieu “have convinced themselves thoroughly that the current order is decadent, corrupt and far removed from the proper, admirable origins of American government”.

Linker said their current view is related to a long-held position among Claremont scholars that “democracy as they understand has been supplanted by bureaucrats and entrenched executive branch departments”.

“The fact that Trump lost in 2020 has just radicalized a lot of these people – it occurred to them that they might not win a proper election again,” he said.

“That would mean that – excuse the language – they’re shit out of luck unless there’s some other path to power. That’s where Caesarism comes in.”

The idea has been lodged in the broader sphere of conservative debate in rightwing writer Stephen Wolfe’s book The Case for Christian Nationalism, in which he proposes a “Christian prince” such as Trump whose rule would be “a measured and theocratic Caesarism”, and might perhaps be installed by “a just revolution” against secular rule.

Thirty years ago, if you told me that a bunch of billionaires and intellectuals on the right were waiting in the wings to impose a religion and dictatorship on the United States, I would have said that you were insane. But it’s no longer insane. It’s now real. There are those people out there. The question is: will they get their chance in 2024?

Indeed.
SECOND, your faux-issues are tiresome.

What do you think about censorship to enforce BLM/ Critical Race Theory/ reparations; enforce irrational Covid policies, whip up anti-Russian hatred, and smother any questions about Biden corruption or Dem policies in general?

Encourage sexual mutilation (often regretted and not very helpful) in the name of "you can be whatever you want to be"?

Pit people against each other, impose authoritarian punishments for using the wrong pronoun, "microaggressing" in ways that only an overly sensitive person would notice, and illiberally enforcing the current narrative/"crisis du jour"?

Nothing indicates Gavin Newsom's Presidential ambitions as much as this:

Quote:

Newsom Fills Feinstein's Empty Senate Seat With Wealthy Black Lesbian From Maryland

First of all, it's an insult to Californians. Apparently Newsom is willing to trash California's unique interests, and disregard HIS RESPONSIBILITY AS GOVERNOR, in order to court support from a "regionally distant area" in order to balance his national appeal.

Reading further, I find this his appointment heads EMILY'S List. EMILY'S List raises funds for female candidates, no matter how war-mongering or ludicrous. (When I saw, lo these many years ago, they supported Jane Harmon, I started trashing their appeal for $$)

So in addition to sucking up to Biden* during his visit here in an unseemly display of obsequiousness, he's spreading his tentacles across country

Thanks to his "sanctuary", "soft on crime", pro-reparations (for what? CA was never a slave state), "green energy" policies, California has become a clusterfuck. I can't imagine what would happen if he imposed his unrealistic, extremist ideology on the rest of the USA.

Voters of all political persuasions, beware.

Yeah.

As I mentioned in another thread, the presence of RFK Jr in the race definitely disturbs calculations.

I assume that the candidates will be Newsom (D), RFK Jr (I) and Trump (R).

So the question is, will RFK Jr pull more votes from Newsom than from Trump?

CNN asked John Kelly, chief of staff to Donald Trump in 2017-18, if he wanted to say anything more about his former boss in light of recent developments. He did:

What can I add that has not already been said? A person that thinks those who defend their country in uniform, or are shot down or seriously wounded in combat, or spend years being tortured as POWs are all ‘suckers’ because ‘there is nothing in it for them.’ A person who did not want to be seen in the presence of military amputees because ‘it doesn’t look good for me.’ A person who demonstrated open contempt for a Gold Star family — for all Gold Star families — on TV during the 2016 campaign, and rants that our most precious heroes who gave their lives in America’s defense are ‘losers’ and wouldn’t visit their graves in France.

A person who is not truthful regarding his position on the protection of unborn life, on women, on minorities, on evangelical Christians, on Jews, on working men and women. A person who has no idea what America stands for and has no idea what America is all about. A person who cavalierly suggests that a selfless warrior who has served his country for 40 years in peacetime and war should lose his life for treason — in expectation that someone will take action. A person who admires autocrats and murderous dictators. A person who has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law.

There is nothing more that can be said. God help us.

I wonder why more of Trump's opponents don't focus on this? Trump's casual contempt for those who serve and die in war isn't just revolting even for him, it's the kind of thing that might — might — influence the opinions of Trump's fans. At the very least, highlighting this stuff would force Trump to deny it. Even that's worth something.

Former president Donald Trump, whose incendiary rhetoric has repeatedly incited violence, recently said Army Gen. Mark A. Milley, the just-retired chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, had committed “a treasonous act” for which “in times gone by, the punishment would have been DEATH!”
While most Republicans may not agree, the silence is deafening.

Trump and his supporters have also suggested that if he regains the presidency, he will seek to gut checks on executive power, weaponize the Justice Department to pursue political opponents, eviscerate the civil service and attempt to put himself above the law. This is a man who has been indicted on a charge of a conspiracy to overturn an election and called for the “termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.”

We should believe him when he tells us what he’ll do next.

The "Justice" Department is already extremely weaponized and full of Democrat shills.

And the constant incitement of violence, actual violence and rioting all come from the Left in the 2020s.

Trump is going to dismantle the entire thing.

Illegal Immigration Emerges as Democrats’ Achilles Heel

Immigration has emerged as a key wedge issue that may cost the Democrats the White House and their U.S. Senate Majority next fall.

According to a Harvard-Harris poll published earlier this month, 71% of registered voters think illegal immigration is getting worse. Democrats made up 37% of respondents to that poll, which means that a critical mass of President Biden’s base is dissatisfied with how his administration has handled the issue. Republicans comprised 36% of poll respondents, and 23% identified as independents. Of those who think illegal immigration is getting worse, 12% did not identify as Republicans or independents. Even more damning, however, is the number of Democrats who said illegal immigration is getting worse, which was over half at 53%.

Biden’s first term has been full of border blunders, from permitting the end of Title 42 to halting the construction of the wall on America’s southern border – even attacking Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for both trying to create physical barriers along the border as well as shipping migrants out of his state.

The number of monthly encounters reported by Customs and Border Protection has steadily increased throughout the Biden presidency, to the extent that the Center for Immigration Studies stated that the most recently available August 2023 border numbers revealed a border in freefall.

We already know who the Republican candidates are. But with Biden* in the WH ... and the DNC practice of running the current President as candidate ... the final DNC pick is a bit of a mystery.

I noticed that Hillary is making public appearances again, with that long interview on NPR. Last time, she got the candidacy bc she was the DNC rainmaker, bringing in hundreds of thousands of $ to DNC coffers. That's why the DNC squeezed Bernie out. So- hat in ring, again?

Newsom has been sucking up, hard, running a kind of 'shadow campaign', especially with his pick for "California" Senator. (What a joke! Californians should rebel.)

Even Biden* seems wider awake the past couple of weeks than the previous six months. Thye must have upped his dose of Aricept or given him speed. Or maybe both.

RFK Jr is still up in the air. Rumor has it that he's going to announce his run as an independent on Oct 9. I guess we'll have to wait until Oct 9 to find out.

Even Michele Obama's been mentioned.

NOBODY is talking about Camel-like Harris.

If I had to take a guess, right now I think the DNC is going to burn Biden out by flogging him thru the last year of his Presidency, but not choosing him as candidate. That way, they don't have to confront the issue of the VP being a grating imbecile, or Biden running against ... well, anybody. By scraping him off, they can scrape off his policies that led to a broken southern border, sharp decline in living standards, stagflation, crime, and "wokeness". Not to mention USA's/ NATO's likely crushing defeat in Ukraine.

The DNC's preferred candidate will have a fresh start to continue with DNC policies.

They never planned this far ahead. They thought for sure by now that Trump would be way behind in the primary polls, and they certainly didn't imagine that he'd be winning in the General Election polls and betting odds against Biden* at this point.

They know they absolutely have to replace Biden* before the debates. Either that or they're going to be forced to cancel the debates altogether. They've rarely let the dude speak in public for 3 years, and when they do they give him cheat-sheet cards telling him when he's supposed to sit down or stand up and when to shake who's hand. Trump will shred Biden* on the debate stage.

Now they're actively trying to destroy Trump's life because the baseless arrests backfired on them, and Trump still isn't backing down. I hope that Trump is taking security seriously because the Democratic Party has no shortage of self-hating white college "educated" activists that would be happy to die for their cause in their cult.

I don't know who they're going to pick.

Honestly, the only person that they could pick that scares me is Michelle Obama.

If only 100 IQ or higher were allowed to vote, this wouldn't worry me at all, but here we are.

Time for Democrats to panic or close as expected?

Jefrey Pollock, a Democratic pollster, downplayed cause for concern for Biden and Democrats, arguing the polls reflect what should have been clear already: the country is deeply polarized and the 2024 election will be close even with Trump as the Republican nominee.

"I have no idea why any Democrat, or anybody in the country, would think that any poll would be any different than life and reality," Pollock said. "And life and reality right now is that we have an incredibly divided country that we know the election is going to be close no matter what."

He said anyone who thought that Trump's legal issues would mean an easy race for Biden and Democrats are "just living in fantasy land."

He's talking about you and Ted. Per a Democrat pollster, you're a couple of fucking idiots who have been living in fantasy land for years now.

Quote:

But pollster Frank Luntz said Democrats are right to panic.

"On a 0 to 10 scale, it's an 11," Luntz said. "With Donald Trump indicted so many times and in such legal trouble, for Joe Biden to be only tied, and in some polls trailing, is a shock to the system and they should be thankful that polling exists."

Luntz, who conducts regular focus groups with Republican primary voters, called Trump's polling against Biden "a nuclear red light flashing," arguing any other candidate with his same legal troubles would be out of the race.

"It says that voters are willing to forgive Trump for everything and it says voters are not willing to forgive Biden for anything," Luntz said. "What they cannot change, and will be getting increasingly worse, is the issue of Joe Biden's age."

These are YOUR guys and USA Today is a Leftist shitrag.

Donald Trump Is a Man Without a Past

At least in the eyes of his supporters

“They believe him, because they believe in him,” Ruth Ben-Ghiat wrote in her 2020 book about authoritarian leaders. Trump “presented himself as a truth-teller,” he utilized “this mirage of him as the successful businessman who has what all other men want” — “all of which,” she told me this week, “are things that authoritarians have done for a hundred years.”

“Obviously George Orwell taught us about the ‘memory hole,’” said Jen Mercieca, the author of Demagogue for President: The Rhetorical Genius of Donald Trump. “The memory hole is very effective — this idea that you can just discard unpleasant truths and make them go away. Human beings are very vulnerable to memory-shaping.”

Consider, for instance — well, Trump’s whole life. “Truthful hyperbole,” as he put it in 1987 in The Art of the Deal, the item for which he is maybe most known after the tower that bears his name — a book O’Brien once described as a “nonfiction work of fiction.” When his book Surviving at the Top came out in 1990, he was barely surviving, and he was nowhere at the top. He didn’t care. Time and time again, as Trump told his tale, failures weren’t failures, losses weren’t losses. Nothing but successes. Nothing but wins.

“Deny something enough, and people eventually will believe you,” said Jack O’Donnell, a former Trump casino executive. “Once they believe you, it is easy to rationalize the past.”

“You talk to voters, and unless they are just hardwired on anti-Trump stuff, they’re going to say he’s a massively successful businessman,” Republican strategist Doug Heye added, “and regardless of what a judge says, that will not be stripped away from his base voters’ minds.”

Trump’s supporters do not care what he did or what he said before. They like him still. They like him now. “It is amazing,” McIntosh told me in a text. “All attempts to undermine his conservative credentials on specific issues were ineffective,” the memo said. “Even when you show video to Republican primary voters with complete context of President Trump saying something otherwise objectionable to primary voters, they find a way to rationalize and dismiss it.”

“What I saw there that really stood out to me was that people dismissed any negative information about Donald Trump as just another attack on Donald Trump,” Mercieca told me. “So they want to believe that Donald Trump is their guy, and he’s a good guy, that he’s fighting for them and that no one else is, that everything is corrupt, and he’s the only one who will save them. That’s the message that he has always given them,” she said. “Every attack against him feeds the narrative that he has created.”

“Trump has made grievance politics his great strength,” Mike DuHaime, Chris Christie’s campaign manager, told me. “He has made himself a victim, and makes others feel like they are also victims, and therefore they must all stick together against the unseen oppressor.”

“Once they bond to him, then he has the victim narrative,” said Ben-Ghiat. “What these propagandists do so beautifully is they establish these narrative grooves, and then everything that happens, it’s like confirmation bias — it fulfills.”

If East Texas were all of America, Trump would receive 90% of the vote. The people I am surrounded by can see nothing particularly wrong with Trump's behavior or their own. I find it perfectly obvious why Trump's life is full of absurd drama, emotional crisis, and mental health issues but East Texans can't see that is unusual because their lives are similar, just not as publicized.

Authoritarianism Expert Says Nikki Haley's Trump Comment Means 1 Chilling Thing

The GOP candidate's failure to condemn the former president's attack on retired Gen. Mark Milley is an ominous sign for America, explained Ruth Ben-Ghiat.

Authoritarianism expert Ruth Ben-Ghiat on Sunday said Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s refusal to condemn Donald Trump’s violent rhetoric showed America is “living through real-time preparation for an authoritarian crackdown.”

Haley, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, told Kristen Walker of NBC’s “Meet The Press” that Trump’s floating of the idea of executing retired Gen. Mark Milley, the former chair of the Joint Chiefs, was “irresponsible.”

But Haley claimed it wasn’t enough to disqualify Trump from running for the White House again.

“Apparently the idea of executing Milley is now the Party Line,” Ben-Ghiat, a history professor at New York University, commented on X, formerly Twitter.

“We are living through real-time preparation for an authoritarian crackdown,” she continued. “We are in a phase of ‘getting the public used to the idea of violence.’”

“Having authoritative voices like Haley endorse violence is key,” added the author of “Strongmen: Mussolini to the Present.”

Trump’s attack on Milley prompted the top military leader to take “safety precautions” for himself and his family. The comment drew sparse criticism from conservatives, however.

Something or Someone is Not Going to Save Us

As much as it pains me to say it (my personal urge toward salvationism is as strong as anybody else’s), nobody is coming to save us...

By Thom Hartmann, Oct 9, 2023, https://hartmannreport.com/p/something-or-someone-is-not-going-8d9

“Saved at the last minute” is pretty much the story of our culture.

It’s built into our major salvationist religions, particularly Christianity and Islam. Even when killed or facing death, Jesus and Muhammed managed to ascend to heaven at the last minute and claim eternal life.

By this worldview, no matter how terrible a life you’ve lived, if you say a handful of magic words at the last minute before you die, you’re guaranteed a spot in paradise. There’s always the last minute.

It’s at the core of most all of our fiction, and a good chunk of our nonfiction. In the old Greek dramas it was deus ex machina — the god in the machine — when Our Hero was finally trapped in an impossible situation but then a platform is cranked down from the ceiling of the amphitheater with a god on it, who waves his hand and makes everything okay again.

In our modern movies and novels, it’s the last-minute discovery of the cure, a take-down of the bad guy, or the discovery of the fatal chink in the aliens’ armor. It’s the miraculous oil that keeps the menorah burning bright through the crisis or the earthquake that brought down Jericho’s walls.

Even in the field of nonfiction, nearly every book — no matter how dire its topic — wraps up with a section or chapter that essentially offers the “here’s what you can do” solutions to everything from acne to climate change to the fascist takeover of America.

This belief that something or someone will ultimately save us no matter how badly we screw things up is why we’re procrastinating with climate change and fossil fuels. It’s why we’re hooked on lotteries. It’s presumably why Merrick Garland put off doing anything about Trump for two years, apparently thinking Congress would rid him of that “meddlesome priest.” It’s why we celebrate Jack Smith, our savior.

There are fundamental issues that brought us to the verge of fascism and we’re ignoring them every day:

— Income inequality and the role of tax cuts in it.
— Worker insecurity and the role of the GOP war on unions.
— A climate-change-driven refugee crisis on our Southern Border.
— Political bribery by our Predator Class and the corrupt Citizens United decision.
— Billionaires and foreign governments buying politicians.
— Media consolidation under the control of rightwing billionaire families.
— Corporate monopolies.
— Racism, homophobia, and misogyny.

We ignore them all because we believe “somebody will eventually save us” so we don’t need to do the hard work of putting our nation, our working class, and our democracy back together.

For most of my life, religious salvationists have disparaged those of us who consider ourselves both spiritual and religious but don’t buy the salvationist aspects of our monotheistic religions. They mistakenly reverse the arrow of causation, arguing that without religion there can be no morality when in fact religion plagiarized morality from every human society that has ever existed.

Genuine morality is deeply buried in our collective psyche, and doesn’t require a savior figure or grand discovery to bring it to the surface.

As much as it pains me to say it (my personal urge toward salvationism is as strong as anybody else’s), nobody is coming to save us.

Salvationists take that as a statement of resignation, of surrender to crises bigger than we are. I take it as both a challenge and an opportunity. By abandoning reliance on others for our salvation from climate change, income inequality, political corruption, and all the other ills of our modern society, we can then shift responsibility for our future to the people most capable of doing something about these problems: ourselves and the governments we can influence.

Joe Biden is not going to save us, and neither are Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren. Without entire movements of people like you and me behind them, politicians are relatively impotent: we are the ones who have to save our nation and the world.

Don’t despair. Moments of crisis are also moments when the possibility of transformation is at its greatest.

When the Founders of this nation signed their own death warrants by publicly taking on the most powerful army and navy on Earth in 1776, they were no doubt worried. But they also saw it as a chance to create something wholly new.

As the author of the Declaration of Independence wrote in a June 5, 1824 letter to Major John Cartwright:

“Our Revolution commenced on more favorable ground [than the foundation of English or Biblical law]. It presented us an album on which we were free to write what we pleased. We had no occasion to search into musty records, to hunt up royal parchments, or to investigate the laws and institutions of a semi-barbarous ancestry. We appealed to those of nature, and found them engraved on our hearts.”

Similarly, an optimistic Thomas Paine wrote:

“The cause of America is in a great measure the cause of all mankind. … We have it in our power to begin the world over again. The birth-day of a new world is at hand.”

When Abraham Lincoln faced fully half the nation in armed rebellion holding to a fascist notion of America as a permanent nation of slaveholders, he wrote to a friend:

“The probability that we may fall in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just; it shall not deter me.”

When Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected president in 1932, the Republican Great Depression was approaching its zenith; a third of Americans were out of work and hunger stalked the land. With just as much corrupt intent as we see today in Jim Jordan or Donald Trump, nakedly fascist politicians were preparing to carve the country up and split the spoils.

Which is why President Roosevelt told America in his first Inaugural Address:

“This is preeminently the time to speak the truth, the whole truth, frankly and boldly. Nor need we shrink from honestly facing conditions in our country today. This great Nation will endure as it has endured, will revive and will prosper. So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself--nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance. … In such a spirit on my part and on yours we face our common difficulties.”

While Jefferson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt offered leadership during troubling times, in each case it was the people themselves to whom they reached and from whom they expected delivery from the nation’s enemies and crises.

And the American people didn’t let them down. We made it through the Revolution, the Civil War, and the Republican Great Depression, just like we will make it through this Trump- and Putin-fueled crisis of democracy.

In each of those three previous crises, American oligarchs stood up against democracy. They supported the British in the 1770s, the cotton barons in the 1860s, and even tried to kidnap and assassinate FDR in the 1930s.

Every time, they were held to account by the American people.

President Obama said it best, perhaps, in February 2008 when he was running for the Democratic nomination for president:

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

“We are the change that we seek. We are the hope of those boys who have so little, who’ve been told that they cannot have what they dream, that they cannot be what they imagine. Yes, they can.

“We are the hope of the father who goes to work before dawn and lies awake with doubt that tells him he cannot give his children the same opportunities that someone gave him. Yes, he can.

“We are the hope of the woman who hears that her city will not be rebuilt, that she cannot somehow claim the life that was swept away in a terrible storm. Yes, she can.

“We are the hope of the future, the answer to the cynics who tell us our house must stand divided, that we cannot come together, that we cannot remake this world as it should be.”

America has faced numerous challenges and difficulties on the way to becoming a multiracial pluralistic democratic republic. We’ve overcome most of them over time and moved forward, step by step, toward what the Preamble of our Constitution calls “a more perfect union.”

A washed up reality TV star and a handful of rightwing billionaires represent a current-day threat to our republic, but it’s not one we can’t overcome.

Trump and his lickspittles aren’t even a shadow of the power that the King of England held in 1776; can’t hold a candle to a brilliant tactician like Robert E. Lee (who we still defeated); and are hardly as powerful or convincing as Hitler or Mussolini.

That’s the marvelous and magical thing about democracy: it almost always finds a way to overcome obstacles and improve itself, even in the face of impossible odds and utter tyranny.

The only way we lose this country is if we give up. Which is why it’s now up to us — and we are not without passion or resources.

So let’s rededicate ourselves to the ideal expressed by Lincoln at Gettysburg:

“[T]hat this government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

Pass it on…

From the essay:

Abraham Lincoln faced fully half the nation in armed rebellion holding to a fascist notion of America as a permanent nation of slaveholders. (In case you are a believer in the Lost Cause, the slaveholders were depraved people. I run across numerous Trumptards in East Texas who still believe the wrong side won the Civil War. It requires a high level of depravity to defend naming schools and Junior Colleges after Robert E Lee, a traitor, but Trumptards have those high levels.)

Betting odds on Trump just keep going up.

What about the 14th Amendment?

Hmmmmmmm...

A Google search for "14th Amendment" today doesn't have a single mention of Trump on the front page. That's a far cry from a few weeks ago. Google trying to hide the past, as per usual.

Now... Put "14th Amendment" "Trump", and you see all the hits from September. The only assholes who have even wrote anything on this after NPR's article on September 25th is, of course, Vox, who wrote an article about it only 4 days ago.

And amazingly (boy, I didn't see this coming), Vox is actually the source that tells you fucking idiots why it's not going to save you.

https://www.vox.com/politics/23880607/trump-14th-amendment-lawsuits-fe
deralist-society

Quote:

Should Donald Trump even be allowed on the ballot in 2024?

Some of the country’s most prominent legal experts, and a small number of activists and politicians, argue he shouldn’t — and some have filed lawsuits trying to strike Trump’s name from ballots.

Yet most in the Democratic Party are keeping a wary distance from the effort. And other experts argue that such actions, intended to save American democracy, might in fact imperil it even further.

The argument for disqualifying Trump hinges on Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution, and its proponents argue that its plain language disqualifies Trump, who they say engaged in “insurrection or rebellion” against the Constitution, from holding office again.

Some go so far as to argue that secretaries of state should simply declare Trump ineligible and take him off their ballots — but so far, none have been willing to do so. Instead, then, the hunt is on to find a judge who will do it.

To be clear: It seems extremely unlikely that Trump actually will be disqualified, since the Supreme Court will get the final say over any challenge, and they’ll likely nix this whole endeavor.

Read that underlined part, you dumb shits. Over and over again until it sinks in.

How is it that the morons at Vox finally figured this out months after I told you two goons that is what would happen and you still think that any of the shit Democrats have been pulling is going to go anywhere?

Nah bitch. If Democrats are going to win, they're going to have to win by actually serving the American Public. And for 3 years now, they've done an increasingly shit job at that.

Vox even goes on to further impress by showing just the tiniest bit of foresight...

Quote:

A Trump win in 2024 would be deeply dangerous for American democracy. Yet taking away voters’ option to choose him would pose its own perils. It would inevitably be seen as blatant election theft by much of the country — which would trigger responses, both from Republicans in office and Trump supporters on the ground, that could degrade democracy even more severely.

Now you're getting it, bitches.

You think that you can just pull whatever bullshit you want to win elections or destroy political opponents over and over and over and over and over again because you think that you're always right?

Well that's going to fuck you in the asses proper when the tables are turned, innit?

You goons at Vox must be pissing in your boots right now about that inevitable future being much closer around the corner than you thought just a few weeks ago to be putting an article like this out there.

Tough shit for you. You were warned. And it's already too late for that. The tables are already turning, and the destruction of Democracy that you've engaged in so far in order to "save Democracy" is about to be turned on you, full force.

And the first item on the docket going forward is to weaponize the very en masse mail-in/drop-box ballot fraud you enacted during Covid and never bothered closing up. Because you lack any critical thinking skills or the ability of foresight.

2024 is going to be a Democrat bloodbath.

And your party served it up to Republicans on a silver platter.

Give yourselves a good pat on the back.

Why Trump and the GOP are burning the entire system down

By Thom Hartmann | Oct 11, 2023

Today’s Republican Party is dedicated to destroying what they call the “deep state” and the rest of us call the American government. From Trump followers in MAGA hats at rallies to Republican US Senators, they’ll all tell you this without a moment’s hesitation.

Steve Bannon even proclaimed it as the main goal of the Trump presidency in their first months in the White House, saying Trump’s goal was the “deconstruction of the administrative state.”

Talking about government regulations that protect the environment, punish companies and con men who rip off consumers, and provide for a safe workplace, Bannon said in March, 2017:

“That’s all gonna be deconstructed and I think that that’s why this regulatory thing is so important.”

In this, the GOP, Putin, and fossil fuel billionaires are all working toward the same goal: to do away with or at least fatally weaken the institutions of our government that prevent the morbidly rich and wannabee strongman autocrats from taking over America.

They’re doing this because they don’t believe democracy is a good or even viable idea. Seven thousand years of the history of civilization, they’ll tell you, show that the one constant has been autocracy and strongman rule. Democracy is merely an experiment to protect the weak and “average” people from predation by the “supermen” among us, and that, they argue, violates the basic laws of nature.

For democracy to work in human societies isn’t some magic or organic thing; it depends on institutions and systems to function and remain free of corruption.

Without those administrative state functions, countries and states devolve into Third World status with corrupt leaders who steal everything that’s not nailed down, hand government and business functions off to their cronies, and suppress dissent or calls for democracy with violence and prisons.

The transformation of America from a modern “social democracy” with strong protections for the environment and the working class into strongman rule is exactly what Trump, Putin, and some of the billionaires who own the GOP want. Being answerable to the people is bothersome and inconvenient for them.

Conservative thinkers from Plato to William F. Buckley to Russell Kirk have denigrated democracy, claiming that it’s merely “mob rule.” Rightwing billionaires look over their shoulders at the teeming masses and shudder, remembering a time in America when the top income tax bracket was 90 percent for the morbidly rich and 50 percent for the most profitable corporations.

It was also a time of the greatest prosperity for the American middle-class, the highest levels of social mobility, and the strongest social cohesion.

Rather than submit to such “onerous” taxation, regardless of the social benefits it conferred, they’d rather burn the entire system down.

Special Prosecutor Jack Smith recently said of Trump:

“Like his previous public disinformation campaign regarding the 2020 presidential election, the defendant’s recent extrajudicial statements are intended to undermine public confidence in an institution — the judicial system — and to undermine confidence in and intimidate individuals — the court, the jury pool, witnesses and prosecutors.”

While most people believe Trump is ranting about our justice system to deflect attention from his many crimes, in fact he’s all-in on the program to Putin-ize America.

He knows — from his own experience in the White House — that the main barriers to a president declaring himself the king of America with rule-by-decree are the systems of checks-and-balances built into every modern democracy.

It was exactly those systems — legislative, judicial, and administrative — that Putin in Russia and Orbán in Hungary corrupted and then seized control over to achieve and maintain their iron-fisted rule.

Similarly, the next steps in the GOP’s plan to turn America into a single-party state — that mirrors what they’ve achieved in a dozen or so Red states — explicitly involves damaging, corrupting, and then controlling the systems of the US federal government.

In most fully GOP-controlled Red states:

— Low-income working people don’t have access to Medicaid, so if they or their kids get sick they either go bankrupt or die.
— Public education is under attack in those states with voucher programs designed to fully privatize and profit-ize schools.
— There are few scholarship programs for higher education, so students go deeply into debt.
— Women are denied the right to an abortion.
— Districts are so gerrymandered that voting is a largely symbolic exercise.
— Union rights are non-existent.
— Guns have more protections than children.

This is why in Blue states:

— Women live as much as 2 years longer.
— Overall life expectancy is as high as in Denmark (Connecticut), while in Red states it’s as low as Serbia or Brazil (Oklahoma).
— Cancer rates are lower (358 per 100,000 people in California) than Red states (504 per 100,000 in Kentucky).
— Heart disease can be as much as five times lower than in Red states.
— Children are less likely to die from gunfire (a child in Massachusetts is one-tenth as likely to die by gunfire as in Mississippi).
— People have measurably higher levels of primary school graduation and achievement.
— The vast majority of people are fully insured for healthcare.
— Babies and new mothers are far less likely to die than in Red states.
— Food insecurity (hunger) is rare, compared to Red states.
— Obesity and chronic disease rates are much lower than in Red states.
— Rates of hypertension are much lower than in Red states.

The lists go on and on. Do a search on just about any measurable index of quality-of-life and you’ll find that Democratic-controlled states are doing better than Red states. The only area where Red states do better is cost of living and taxation, but living cheap has its own problems as you can see above.

Which is exactly why Red states and their forms of governance appeal to the morbidly rich; their tax “burden” is lower than in Blue states. And it’s also why American oligarchs are working so hard to transform the entire country into Red state forms of governance.

The war against American institutions — and, thus, American democracy — is now going full-bore.

— The GOP is considering putting the man the January 6th Committee said played the largest role among members of Congress in that insurrection in charge of Congress as Speaker of the House.

— To cripple our government, Republicans in the Senate are blocking confirmation of our diplomats (including to Israel), promotions for our military, and appointees to the Departments of Energy, State, Veterans Affairs, and Justice.

— Republicans in the House are refusing to move forward appropriations legislation to keep our government operating past November 17th.

— Republicans in Red states are purging city-dwelling voters from the rolls by the millions and passing legislation making it harder to vote in every way they can imagine.

— Republicans on the Supreme Court have stripped away protections against politicians being corrupted by wealthy people and corporations.

— Republicans are taking to the media to tell outrageous lies, some so bad that even Fox “News” hosts can’t stomach them.

The difference between Republican and Democratic visions for America are as clear as the difference between Russia and Norway (or California and Mississippi).

Will we have rule by “We, the People” or by an elite group of autocrats? A high standard of living for all, or riches for a few and poverty for everybody else? Quality healthcare and education for all, or “you’re on your own if you weren’t smart enough to be born into a wealthy family”?

The next 15 months will determine which will ultimately prevail and, perhaps for the last time in the history of America, anybody who chooses to vote can have a say.

Steve Scalise is a veteran of House GOP leadership. Now he hopes to be speaker

Scalise over Jordan 113 to 99. Pretty close. There is one more vote bc Scalise needs to be approved with 217 votes.

Scalise represents everything wrong with establishment Republicans: an anti-human, big business suck up and warhawk who never met a Pentagon request he didn't like.

Trump tells court he had no duty to 'support' the Constitution as president

Trump's lawyers are arguing that the specific language of the Constitution only applies to people in offices who are bound to "support" the Constitution — and the presidency is not one of those offices.

"The Presidential oath, which the framers of the Fourteenth Amendment surely knew, requires the President to swear to 'preserve, protect and defend' the Constitution — not to 'support' the Constitution," said the filing by Trump's attorneys. "Because the framers chose to define the group of people subject to Section Three by an oath to 'support' the Constitution of the United States, and not by an oath to 'preserve, protect and defend' the Constitution, the framers of the Fourteenth Amendment never intended for it to apply to the President."

The former president has already tried to remove the 14th Amendment case to federal court, but this motion was denied.

But I am also running as a proxy for any other candidate."

The Democrat party is falling apart at the seams.

Cenk Uygur knows nothing, nothing at all: Born in Istanbul, Turkey, Cenk Uygur immigrated to the U.S. at 8 years old. He believes that the Constitution's "Natural Born Citizen" clause will not prevent him in his effort, believing that he can win the battle in the Supreme Court.

Does anyone remember Ralph Nader? When Cenk Uygur decides the Green Party needs him more than the Democrats, he will be Nader Redux.

The Nader Effect. Feb 23, 2004 — In the 2000 presidential election in Florida, Nader won 97,488 votes, while Al Gore lost the state (and, therefore, the presidency) by 537 votes.

Ralph Nader Still Refuses to Admit He Elected Bush

After 23 years, Nader still can't admit he made Bush the President. Nader absolutely has faith in what he did. Cenk Uygur already is psychologically positioned perfectly to not understand what he is doing. I love it when people devise clever explanations for why nothing can be their fault, which is why the man-made world runs so very smoothly.

Cenk Uygur knows nothing

You won't get any argument about that from me.

I love seeing him say Fuck Joe Biden* like the rest of us though.

The Democrat party is done. Watching it finally fracture and crumble to the ground while they eat each other over the next 13 months is going to be priceless.
