I can't be sucked back into this... whatever it is......

It's 5:15PM, and this being the 3rd day in the last 2 months that I've indulged in the "Devil's cup", I'm well on my way to being to being one of the few who are 2 drunk to get where their going, rather than the type that are 2 drunk to get home. My "tolerance" is for crap now, so I'm feeling much more drunk on less than half the booze..... :)

I thought I'd come here and wish ya'all a happy New Year, but everything down to the last minute before this post is still this anti-partisan B.S. that this forum always is.

I got my resolution out of the way today...... I "rehabed" my computer today. I hasn't worked right for about 2 months, and now it's perfect after 8 hours of formatting, installing and updating.

Don't know about you, but 2013 will be the year I finally find something worth doing that I won't even have an itch to get drunk anymore.

For those of you without an inclination to get drunk, the equivalent would be to find something that you wouldn't need to over-eat, over-smoke, over-butt-your-nose-in-where-it-doesn't-belong....

Here's to great jobs for all of us in the New Year!

Short of that....

Here's to better hobbies than wasting our time posting to an audience of 1 in Joss's RWED...........

Mayhap it is......

I'm thinking it's something far less sinister though.

I'm thinking that since this is the first night I've had more than 4 beers in a night in almost two months that in itself is a more likely explanation to my complete lack of tolerance to the self-indulged idiocy.

Drive safely :)

I'll be cracking an old bottle of Moet around midnight, but I'll likely have to set an alarm to wake me up for it. Since I'm up at 4:30 these days, midnight is the asscrack of nowhere for me!

Here's to better jobs for all. I'm not cut out for unemployment.

Man, I'm still working on the bottle of vodka that was given to me at the job before the most recent job, so that would be around... 2006?

I'm not quite the drinker I used to be.

The champagne has been around since I don't know when. 2002 or so, I'm guessing. Heck, I even found four bottles of Samuel Adams Triple Bock from 1994 hiding in the back of a cabinet last time we moved. Amazing stuff, that. One 7oz. bottle was quite a bit like taking a valium; not like any beer you've ever encountered.

Fortunately for me, my present dog sleeps right through that stuff. Khaleesi, the new kitten, was not amused though. She has decided that she does not like fireworks. First cat I've known to get freaked out by them.

My poor doggy shook every time one went off.

He hates thunder as well.

Big baby.

The child, on the other hand, was down on the beach watching the display.

Spent the bulk of NYE watching Captain America, Thor and then The Avengers.

Nary a drop of alcohol was sipped last night, and now I'm off to the gym. Muhaahaa!

Aww, Magons, poor baby. I hope he recovers soonest.

As usual, you guys had the most magnificent fireworks display I saw...but then, I went to bed before half the globe did theirs...still, I'll bet it was the best!

Jo left her Springer behind when she went back to England, and Daisy was like yours. Pain in the ass, tho' around here we don't hear the big display in S.F., only the 4th of July one locally, so that was a relief.

"Meet Jo Black" and a couple of tokes, then off to snuggle under my covers while the world got into the 30s. Far nicer than anything else I could think of to greet the New Year. I don't drink; the reasons for which are well illustrated in this thread.

All good wishes to all.

Tit for tat got us where we are today. If we want to be grownups, we need to resist the ugliness. If we each did, this would be a better reflection on Firefly and a more welcome place. I will try.

Well the place we were staying had a big display on the beach, so they were right over us. No tv or internet access, so didn't see the big displays in Sydney and Melbourne.

Drank quite a bit of bubbly stuff. Yum.

The doggy was fine as soon as it was over. But I was glad we stayed with him.

Mmmmm bacon, couldn't give that up, even though I don't eat it often.

Happy New Year Jack, I was just thinking about you, here's to a year when you get a better job and find lots of cool things to do and in which you drink a little if you like but not too much.

Happy New Year all, I'm jealous of Magons, she sounds like she was camping, lucky.

At my house we watch all the Back to the Futures and then go to my neighbor's house at midnight to bang pots and pans with him and shout ourselves silly.

Hey Riona!

Hope your new year is going well so far!

Nothing happening here except I started drinking again over the holidays. Hope to curb that. At least I'm still watching what I eat otherwise and also doing my workout stuff while "sober", which I didn't give a flip about before. It's not exactly starting my Puritan p90x workout phase of life like I wanted to a week ago, but it's sure a lot better than when I was 50 lbs heavier back in 2008 and was just a sliver away from full blown agoraphobia.

I've been maintaining my "5 lbs over 2 months post-drinking" weight I put on after holiday overeating. When I'm flexing I can see my 6 pack and even the beginnings of the 8-pack and "The V" at the bottom". I can even suck in my gut to the point that I see my ribcage.....

Awesome.... :)

Here's hoping I get it figured out soon and rock the B-Day suit from the waist up while I mow my lawn come summertime!

And.... that thing about bacon......

Good for you dude if that's your only vice. You'll never see me passing up free bacon! I just never buy it because A) it's too expensive on "The Mart's" payroll, and B) I don't have the patience to cook it right and it gets all curled and has too much fat left for my enjoyment.

Whenever my bro and sis-in-law have me over for breakfast I eat the shit out of that bacon though, because my bro is the perfect stay-at-home-Dad!

Happy New Year everyone!

Halliburton has them and uses them regularly to infringe on our Constitutional rights, but they're Black and we can't see or hear them.

Same as it ever was....

Marty McFly was using Halliburton tech back in 1955 and knocked my mom up at the Fish Under the Sea dance (Off Camera).

I'm Marty McFly's bastard child, but try proving that in a court of law!

I got some grey hair round the temples! Doesn't that count????

Might as well throw "old" on the heap since they're already discriminating against me for being white and male when I apply at a job these days.

Bah... whatever.....

My 99% score on all the Iowa tests in grade school condemned me to this fate. Not smart enough to get a free ride at Ivy League schools without rich parents to buy my way in, but way too smart to work the jobs that 99% of the people I know work.

No worries...

I'll just keep stocking the BS you buy at The Mart overnight, completely wasting my talents, so you can buy overpriced goods at a chain that legitimately should have closed up shop years ago when Sam's Club and Costco can under cut any single item they sell.

Seriously people...

Why do any one of you EVER buy anything at that "Krazy Mart"?

Even with my 10% employee discount, there isn't a single thing I could buy there that I couldn't find somewhere else way cheaper.

$1 for a single roll of Mart toilet paper (sand paper)???? I can buy an entire year's supply for 18 bucks at Costco. They might not be like wiping your behind with pillows like the top-end Charmin brand, but they're a far cry from rubbing yourself with 80-grit 3M sandpaper like the Mart sells.
