Even more amazing a capture since the terrorists weren't wearing big over-sized mountain climbing backpacks with wires hanging out of a big steel fondue pot.

Apparently, nothing was going to happen, as the bombs provided were dummy bombs, never having the potential to harm anyone. But the terrorists didn't know that.

( My comment per the Canadians was sarcasm )

Bigger point - links to al Qaeda.

Pointing the finger at Canada is old and tired AU. We don't fall for it anymore.

By all means, praise for the RCMP is well earned. My sarcasm was a poke at those who get their britches in a bunch when there's any HINT of a mention that *gasp* al Qaeda or Islamic radicals may be in the least bit tied to terrorism. And Canada is among the least likely places to stereo type or blindly accuse anyone, which is why I was so surprised they came right out ( oot ? ) and said publicly there may be such links.

Being sarcastic means I was NOT calling Canada racist. In fact, the exact OPPOSITE is true.

No one was 'pointing the finger' at Canada. Not sure where ya got that idea from. Certainly wasn't MY intent.

Little rappy has a habit of blaming all 'Muslim' (a noun he can't seem to put into the plural form) for all acts of radical terror. But that would be like blaming all 'Catholic' for the acts of the IRA. Or all 'Protestant' for Germany starting WWI and WWII. And that's just stupid. Don't you agree?

" Nothing " ?

Really? 2 guys, neither a citizen of Canada, with apparent links to al Qaeda, and all you can muster is some utterly off the mark side comment about a word, 'Muslim' which I never even USED in this thread. This only goes to show how far you have to reach and how petty your seething anger that yes, once again, I seem to be right. And you, utterly and completely proven to be wrong, again.

Not all radical terror is Muslim ( singular noun, denoting religion ) , but it is involved in a vast majority of like events around the world.

And you're completely off the mark w/ your naive attempts to try to equate radical Islam to the events of WW2. It's sad, really, that you'd even try such a comparison.

Not all Moslems are terrorists.

Not all terrorists are Moslems.

But Islamic terrorists are running up an impressive scorecard in recent years. A number of spectacular successes, and a larger number of failures, many of then not very smart.

I agree, you can't blame ALL Catholics, even all IRISH Catholics ,for the IRA, nor can you blame ALL Protestants, even all German Protestants, for WW I & II

But you should keep an alert eye on recent Irish immigrants, especially groups, and you should watch Germany for neo-Nazi groups and upsurges.

You should also keep an eye on French speaking Qubecois-- they had plenty of separatists there a while back, some of them radical and violent, and some groups that were called terrorist.

However, US law doesn't allow the government to do that, at least not very much. And I in fact approve of that, because I do believe that people are individually responsible for what they do, not as members of a race, religion or ethnic group.

To recount MY ancestry, I have one Irish immigrant grandparent, one French Canadian, one German Swiss Protestant, and one German Jewish. Somebody probably oughtta be keeping an eye on ME.

The point everyone's been making is that Rap has been on a tear for a long time now (tho' less so more recently--maybe because we've had OTHER forms of "terrorism", as in mass murder, to notice) of POSTING, as in POINTING OUT, any form of "Islamic terrorism" he can find, anywhere, any kind, with accompanying snarks and actual statements that we should watch out for these guys, they're out to git us and we're in extreme danger. The focus has irritated many of us, and yes, it IS racist to seek it out, point it out incessantly and argue about the danger of Islamists, etc., etc., with remarks about the "religion of peace" and equivalent snarks, We all know this, it doesn't need debating.

In this case, there are apparently Al Aaeda ties. The fact that Canada stated this isn't in any way surprising; every time there's anything that smacks of Al Qaeda, Islamic terrorism, Taliban, etc., any country in which it happens mentions it. Rap attempting to make some kind of point about Canada fails completely.

It has been pointed out that we have FAR more violence in this country from home-grown "terrorism" of many sorts (many not called "terrorism" because they just slaughter a bunch of people with no political agenda), which never appeared to slow his onslaught against those damned Muslims--and back tracking, won't work, his REMARKS have been anti-Muslim, anti-Islamist in nature quite clearly all along; whether he uses the specific word "Muslim" or not is irrelevant. Nobody is fooled.

So Canada caught an Al Qaeda-inspired attack and prevented it. So have we. So have many countries. It's an RWED in that respect, but Rap making a point of putting it up, and his crack about oh-so-PC Canada actually SAYING it's Al Qaeda is just more of the same, nothing new. He can argue the minutae all he wants, it changes nothing.

I'd never heard that. Spain ? Yep. England ? Yep. France, even ? Seems so. But Canada ? But bravo on uncovering the plot. Hopefully more will wake up to the actual real threat in the world.

My point earlier w/ the 'racist' joke was just exactly that. It was a joke. Anyone who knows about Canada is that their 1st Amendment-less laws up there make it damn near impossible for folks to speak ill against ethnic, religious, minority groups, what ever, w/ out the real threat of legal action ( Ask Mark Steyn about that , if you need to ). Of COURSE they're not racist, which makes my obvious comment about them being 'racist' so funny.

Duh!

Canadian terror suspect decries charges in hearing
By Chelsea Carter and Faith Karimi, CNN
updated 12:21 PM EDT, Wed April 24, 2013

NEW: Charges not based on Islam's holy book, terror suspect says
Chiheb Essegheier, 30, is accused of planning a terrorist attack
Raed Jaser, 35, his suspected accomplice, appeared at a court in Toronto on Tuesday
The two are accused of plotting to target a U.S.-bound passenger train

(CNN) -- One of two men accused in a Canadian terror plot appeared to criticize the charges against him during a hearing Wednesday in Toronto, saying they were based on imperfect criminal law, not Islam's holy book.

Dammit, much as I hate to look like I'm on Raptard's side here, if these 2 guys AREN'T Islamic terrorists, I'd hate to meet 2 guys who were.

It's not about being Islamic terrorists; from all I've heard, they certainly are. It's about Rap's obsession with reporting any and all even potential acts of Islamic terrorism, which used to be accompanied by snarks about "so much for the religion of peace", etc. That's all the argument has been about, I don't think anyone is disputing that these individuals are Islamic terrorists.

Islam is not a race, which is what was amusing about Rap's "Damned racist Canadians", which he thinks was a joke apparently but which merely makes it obvious to all that HE's the "racist"...which we all knew anyway. It was just being pointed out that things which to him are a joke, actually illuminate his mentality far more than they are humorous. He also thinks deliberately making flat statements which are untrue constitute "jokes", so one should probably be careful what one believes about any of his posts. That's all.

ANY religion can be prostituted by sick individuals; heaven knows, most of the Christian ones have been from time to time, and still are, on a daily basis. Which will probably bring Rap roaring in to yet again argue that Islam is worse than Christianity, no Christians have ever killed in the name of their god, etc., etc., ad nauseum, both of which we've already long, long debunked so I hope nobody responds to him about it.

Carry on.

And any belief system. Though I think belief systems are by definition crazy. If they were based on observation, testing and appraisal they'd be based in reality. But beliefs by definition are held despite the lack of proof, or even because of the amount of disproof.

I wonder if any extremism whether religious or political is like OCD. It's not enough to believe a little, you have to believe completely.

I've actually been following down a potential papertrail on that one, with little success so far, but it's worth nothing that supposedly he was sent to some hellcamp/biblecamp/etc and immediately thereafter displayed the sudden and radical behavioral changes those who knew him have mentioned, finally culminating with his girlfriend up to that point dumping him and a bullshit bust for supposed vandalism (which he likely didn't actually do) and "paraphanelia" (often a law enforcement fuck-with-the-young game) and then shovelled into a something called a diversion program, which covers a damn lot of things, some of them not so savory....

But what I REALLY want is to get my hands on some documentation of wherever the hell it was he was either shoved into by family or rooked into going that fractured his personality and started that downhill slide, so I can hammer them like a rusty nail with it - we make our own monsters, and are too blind to see it.
