Donald Trump gets everything wrong about the climate crisis

Here is the biggest thing happening on our planet as we head into the autumn of 2024: the Earth is continuing to heat dramatically. Scientists have said that there’s a better than 90% chance that this year will top 2023 as the warmest ever recorded. And paleoclimatologists were pretty sure last year was the hottest in the last 125,000 years. The result is an almost-cliched run of disasters: open Twitter/X anytime for pictures of floods pushing cars through streets somewhere. It is starting to make life on this planet very difficult, and in some places impossible. And it’s on target to get far, far worse.

Here’s the second-biggest thing happening on our planet right now: finally, finally, renewable energy, mostly from the sun and wind, seems to be reaching some sort of takeoff point. By some calculations, we’re now putting up a nuclear plant’s worth of solar panels every day. In California, there are now enough solar farms and wind turbines that day after day this spring and summer they supplied more than 100% of the state’s electric needs for long stretches; there are now enough batteries on the grid that they become the biggest source of power after dark. In China it looks as if carbon emissions may have peaked – they’re six years ahead of schedule on the effort to build out renewables.

And here’s the third biggest thing in the months ahead: the American presidential election, which looks as if it is going down to the wire – and which may have the power to determine how high the temperature goes and how fast we turn to clean power.

Donald Trump gave an interview last week, in which he laid out his understanding of climate change:
Quote:

You know, when I hear these poor fools talking about global warming. They don’t call it that any more, they call it climate change because you know, some parts of the planet are cooling and warming, and it didn’t work. So they finally got it right, they just call it climate change. They used to call it global warming. You know, years ago they used to call it global cooling. In the 1920s they thought the planet was going to freeze. Now they think the planet’s going to burn up. And we’re still waiting for the 12 years. You know we’re down almost to the end of the 12-year period, you understand that, where these lunatics that know nothing, they weren’t even good students at school, they didn’t even study it, they predict, they said we have 12 years to live. And people didn’t have babies because they said – it’s so crazy. But the problem isn’t the fact that the oceans in 500 years will raise a quarter of an inch, the problem is nuclear weapons. It’s nuclear warming … These poor fools talk about global warming all the time, you know the planet’s going to global warm to a point where the oceans will rise an eighth of an inch in 355 years, you know, they have no idea what’s going to happen. It’s weather.
I’ve quoted this at length because this could again be the most important man on the planet, talking about the most important issue the planet has ever faced. And he’s gotten every word of it wrong. It’s gibberish.

But it’s gibberish in the service of something very important and very dangerous: doing all that he can to block the energy transition, in America and around the world.
His friends at Project 2025 have laid out in considerable detail how you translate that gibberish into policy. It lays out in loving detail many of the steps his administration would use to bolster oil, gas and coal while sidetracking sun and wind.

Trump and his campaign enter turbulent phase in final weeks

By Ashley Parker, Josh Dawsey, Marianne LeVine | Sept 21, 2024

Donald Trump’s top advisers have insisted for months that his 2024 bid for the presidency is the most disciplined campaign he has ever run. They pointed to fewer leaks, less infighting and a more deliberate strategy honed by seasoned professionals and driven by data.

But with just 45 days left until the election, the past three weeks reveal whatever control and self-restraint helped launch Trump’s third presidential campaign has largely disappeared in the crucial final stretch.

On the Monday before Trump’s first debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, his running mate shared on social media, without evidence, the claim that Haitian immigrants were abducting and eating their neighbors’ pets — one Trump repeated the following night on the debate stage, in a moment that instantly went viral.

Trump’s chaotic and widely criticized debate performance coincided with an already tumultuous period for the former president. He had recently welcomed back into his orbit Corey Lewandowski — his former 2016 campaign manager who was exiled after allegations of sexual assault by a donor — and had begun traveling around the country with Laura Loomer, a far-right ally who has spread conspiracy theories. Two failed apparent assassination attempts, as well as additional threats against him, have also left the freewheeling president constrained by a mushrooming security presence and has made staging campaign events more challenging.

Meanwhile, after Taylor Swift endorsed Harris following the debate, Trump picked a fight with the international icon, posting last Sunday on social media, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” — the sort of impulsive, impetuous display that has become increasingly common in recent weeks. In a single 24-hour span at the end of last month, for example, he amplified a crude joke about Harris performing a sex act; falsely accused her of staging a coup against President Joe Biden; promoted tributes to the QAnon conspiracy theory; hawked digital trading cards; and became embroiled in a public feud with staff and officials at Arlington National Cemetery.

The Swift attack was especially concerning to Trump’s advisers, who are worried about attracting women voters. But Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said Trump was more popular than Swift — citing a Siena poll — and that Gold Star families who had lost loved ones serving in the military had invited Trump to Arlington Cemetery.

By early last week, Trump and his No. 2, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), found themselves trying to reverse-engineer evidence of Haitians eating cats and dogs in Springfield, Ohio, arguing they were simply trying to draw attention to the real problem of immigration. They also used inflammatory rhetoric to blame Biden and Harris — who Trump called “the enemy from within” — for what the Republican ticket claimed was inflammatory rhetoric that lead to the apparent attempts on Trump’s life.

“The through-line,” said one Trump confidant, “is his campaign is 96 percent him.”

“It’s not even ‘Let Trump be Trump,’” this person continued, referring to the oft-quoted unofficial motto of Trump advisers. “It’s ‘Let Trump be unsupervised at all times.’ They just feel like, ‘We can’t control him, so let’s hope he wins anyways.’”

This account of the Trump campaign’s recent frenetic period is based on interviews with nine aides, advisers and others familiar with the situation, many of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity to reveal internal details.

In many ways, the past three weeks or so have been quintessentially unruly and turbulent, and hark back to Trump’s first, quixotic presidential bid in 2016, when he alarmed allies and party elders before pulling off an improbable victory.

With polls continuing to show a close contest, Trump’s team remains optimistic he will prevail in November. They privately point to what they believe are sufficient organizing and canvassing efforts, despite having outsourced much of the activity. They believe strong voter registration numbers, especially in Pennsylvania, and early ballot requests favor them, as well as the fact that the economy remains the top issue for many voters. They also remain confident that immigration will be a leading issue and one where the American public prefers Trump over Harris.

Tony Fabrizio, the campaign’s pollster, has continually shared internal data that is more promising than public data, which has shown Harris receiving a modest bounce after the Democratic convention, campaign advisers say.

And there is a sense among some strategists, both Democratic and Republican, that Trump is impervious to the sort of chaos and controversies that might sink another politician. Marc Short, chief of staff to former vice president Mike Pence, described the recent events as “a wash.”

“It’s a statement to the loyalty among his core voters that, despite however rocky events may be, it doesn’t falter,” Short said. “There’s definitely a core audience that loves him, and I think there’s also an audience that’s tuned out the drama.”

But some advisers have also tried to remind mid-level staffers that the race is going to be close no matter what, saying that Trump is “in a position to win” and urging them to “tune out the noise.”

“President Trump has built the most powerful and most professional team in political history and, under his leadership, has overcome every single obstacle in his way,” Cheung said. “From the illegal witch-hunts to the weaponization of the justice system to an assassination attempt to the political coup of replacing Biden, the enemies of America will stop at nothing to prevent President Trump from returning to the White House.”

Heading into the summer and especially as the polls have tightened following Biden’s abrupt withdrawal from the race, Trump’s top advisers — including Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles — have been thrust into the very tumult and knife-fighting that defined his past campaigns and which they explicitly sought to avoid, multiple advisers said.

Wiles and LaCivita are still in charge — and most Trump allies expect them to survive until Election Day — but critics say their more tenuous hold on the campaign has led them to weigh concerns about self-preservation over attempting to rein in their boss.

Some on the campaign blame the newfound drama on the arrival of Lewandowski who — still fresh from 2021 allegations of unwanted sexual advances — was already viewed with skepticism by some of Trump’s family members and allies.

Lewandowski soon began telling others he was in charge of the campaign as the chairman, which was not true. He raised questions with Trump and others about how Wiles had spent money, particularly on advertisements, forcing her to spend time defending herself internally. Others on the campaign defended Wiles as frugal. And he also began calling staffers in swing states and asking if the campaign was being well-run — outreach that filtered back to Wiles and rattled other staff.

Privately, Wiles has told allies that it has been difficult to see the close-knit, disciplined operation that she helped build face such tumult and infighting in the final months — and that the past few weeks have been among her least favorite since joining the operation in 2021.

Lewandowski did not respond to detailed questions but slammed The Washington Post for its reporting.

“Same old nonsense that has already been written by the Washington Compost,” he wrote in a text message. “Your obsession with my volunteer efforts just demonstrates your continued hatred of Donald J. Trump and prove you will stop at nothing to try and prevent him from becoming the 47th President of the United States.”

Cheung, meanwhile, said the campaign was all “rowing in the same direction.”

Loomer, too, has been a source of much frustration within Trump’s orbit. She accompanied him to the presidential debate in Philadelphia, and she also joined him the following day at events commemorating the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, despite previously pushing the false conspiracy theory that the attacks were an “inside job.”

Some outside advisers and donors called Trump to express their concern that her unofficial role is detrimental to the campaign. Trump finally distanced himself from her in milquetoast public remarks describing her as “a supporter” and a “free spirit.” He also promised advisers he would not regularly invite her to travel with him on his plane, and last weekend he privately referred to her as “crazy” to several people, according to someone familiar with comments.

Trump has also begun to privately criticize Lewandowski, downplaying his role on the campaign and their relationship, three people familiar with his comments said.

Some campaign advisers are eager to move on from Trump and Vance’s unverifiable claims about Haitian immigrants eating cats and dogs — a potentially detrimental news cycle that has stretched into its second week — but also acknowledge Trump rarely retreats, even when it might be politically advantageous to do so.

Baseless claims about immigrants stealing and eating their neighbors’ pets had already gone viral in far-right circles when Vance — who had also received several calls from concerned constituents — shared the allegation in a post on X on the Monday before the debate.

Though Trump and Vance did not talk about the issue before the debate — and though the topic never came up in debate prep — Trump repeated the claim following an exchange in which Harris mocked the size of his rally crowds.

“In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs,” he said. “The people that came in — they’re eating the cats. They’re eating — they’re eating the pets of the people that live there.”

A campaign adviser said they were not shocked Trump mentioned it — “it was so salacious, and it was all over the news,” this person said — and added that the general issue of immigration is one that Trump and his team think ultimately benefits him.

A second campaign adviser added that the operation does not internally view the eating pets claims as damaging as many outsiders do. And Trump himself has said he plans to visit Springfield in coming weeks.

“President Trump and Senator Vance are highlighting the failed immigration system that Kamala Harris has overseen, bringing thousands of illegal immigrants pouring into communities like Springfield and many other across the country,” Cheung aid.

Scott Reed, a veteran Republican strategist, said Trump is running a campaign intended to turn out his base, and he’s not surprised Trump and Vance have doubled down on the false immigration claims.

“Trump is directly communicating with millions of small-town voters that feel crime and immigration is totally out of control,” Reed said. “And he’s communicating with them in a way that normally they’re neglected. It’s an item in the news, he glommed onto it, he nationalized it, and he’s probably going to keep it up.”

Still, the campaign has found itself scrambling to alternately explain away or come up with excuses for the litany of false claims; a Post analysis found that Vance repeatedly shared misinformation about Springfield, despite his staff being told on the day of his first post that there was no verifiable evidence or news reports to support the claim.

“If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that’s what I’m going to do,” Vance told CNN host Dana Bash last Sunday, when pressed on the issue. “Because you guys are completely letting Kamala Harris coast.”

He quickly sought to clarify his comments to Bash, telling her he was referring to “first hand accounts from my constituents.” “I say that we’re creating a story, meaning that we’re creating the American media focusing on it,” he said.

Other turmoil has also bubbled up, and aides have recently struggled to focus the former president. Inside and outside the campaign, advisers and confidantes have urged Trump to define Harris more aggressively, including a few who say they are unconvinced that his chosen nicknames — “Comrade Kamala” and the deliberate mispronunciation of her name as “Kamabla” — are the right ones.

Campaign advisers also have been battling for weeks over sending out mailings to voters, according to multiple advisers. Trump is skeptical of the strategy entirely and would prefer to spend the money on television ads, the people said, while there have been disagreements over how much to spend on mail and what the messaging should be.

Allies have grown concerned that Trump and the Republicans are being outspent in almost every state — some by large margins — and that Democrats are far outraising Republicans. “The campaign has been smart with its resources and is implementing a strategic plan to maximize turnout and media impressions,” Cheung said.

Trump also spent part of last Saturday discussing whether he should participate in another debate against Harris, after saying he was not going to do it, according to people who spoke to him. Some, including adviser Kellyanne Conway, have privately been pushing him to do another debate, and he has not ruled it out despite publicly saying he won’t.

Trump also spent several days after the debate calling allies to tell them how well he’d done, which struck some as defensive.

“I personally hope he debates again,” said Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), a close Trump ally. “I think the narrative is she’s smart, she’s talented, and I think she’s a mile wide and an inch deep, and it’s mostly happy talk.”

Trump has also struggled to adjust to his new reality of facing Harris, a Black and Indian American women who is faring better against him in the polls than Biden was, according to someone familiar with his thinking.

On a recent Saturday night, Trump continued to complain to advisers that Biden had stepped aside.

“I don’t think he is ever going to give it up,” said one person who heard the gripes.

That's not antisemitism.

That's pointing out facts that if Jews vote for Democrats this election season they're actively voting against their own best interests.

She's a Democrat, college "educated" activist spitting out her preprogrammed responses. Whether somebody on MSNBC or Amy said it first hardly matters because they'd both say it anyway.

Fuck her for every reason she's a piece of shit. Not because she's a Jew.

Every time you type something it's an attempted rhetorical trick. A large part of that is due to the fact that you've never had an original thought in your head and you just repeat everything I could hear if I was tuned in to MSNBC 24/7.

Too bad for you that the only person who still comes to fireflyfans.net that's stupid enough to fall for any of this bullshit is Ted.

Is Donald Trump, as J.D. Vance once asked, just a ‘cynical asshole’ or ‘America’s Hitler’?

By David Runciman | Sat 21 Sep 2024 07.00 EDT

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/sep/21/is-donald-trump-a-fasc
ist

On 6 January 2021, two weeks before he was due to leave office, Trump encouraged his supporters to march on the Capitol in a bid to prevent the congressional ratification of his election defeat. Though Trump claims he was not responsible for what happened next, the riot that followed – with his supporters storming government buildings and elected officials fleeing for their lives – echoed some of the darkest chapters of modern European history. This is how fascists behave when democracy stops working for them. It was monstrous. But it was also ridiculous. The mob seemed clueless what to do once they had breached the Capitol’s defences. They were dressed for a day trip, not an insurrection. Some – most notoriously the “QAnon shaman” in his horned raccoon headgear and patriotic face paint – looked as though they were headed for a kids’ fancy-dress party. If this was fascism, it was also a farce.

The question of whether a conman can also be a fascist – or a fascist also a conman – has become more pressing after Trump came within inches of becoming a martyr for the cause. On 13 July Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to assassinate Trump at a campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania, grazing the candidate’s ear with one shot and killing a member of the crowd with another. A few weeks earlier, the New Republic – a left-leaning magazine – had published a special issue devoted to the threat posed by Trump’s potential return to the White House. Its cover pictured him with a Hitler comb-over and toothbrush moustache (based on a 1932 Nazi campaign poster), with the tagline “American Fascism: What Would It Look Like”. The image went viral.

Plenty of Trump’s supporters were quick to link the two events. Chip Roy, a Republican congressman from Texas, tweeted an image of the New Republic cover after the assassination attempt with the words, “You bastards.” JD Vance, who had not yet been chosen as Trump’s running mate, wrote, “The central premise of the Biden campaign is that President Trump is an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs. That rhetoric led directly to President Trump’s attempted assassination.” This despite the fact that in 2016 Vance had posted on Facebook, “I go back and forth between thinking Trump might be a cynical asshole like Nixon who wouldn’t be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he might be America’s Hitler.

Cynical asshole or fascist? Since 2016, Trump’s behaviour has made the question more acute without settling it. Robert O Paxton, an authority on the historical definition of fascism, argued in 2017 that, despite many overlaps, Trump did not ultimately fit the bill: he was too much of a poser, too lacking in a coherent political programme and too much of a plutocrat. Hitler expropriated the wealthy; Trump sucks up to them. But after the events of 6 January 2021, Paxton changed his mind. In Newsweek a few days afterwards he wrote, “Trump’s incitement of the invasion of the Capitol … removes my objection to the fascist label. His open encouragement of civic violence to overturn an election crosses a red line.” Trump’s time in office, by implication, had not revealed him to be a fascist (he had, after all, failed to deliver on his promise to jail his main political rival, as he had failed to deliver on many of his promises). It was the manner of his refusal to leave office that had moved the dial.

Michael Tomasky, editor of the New Republic, wrote in his introduction to the magazine’s American fascism issue, “We at the New Republic think we can spend this election year in one of two ways. We can spend it debating whether Trump meets the nine or 17 points that define fascism. Or we can spend it saying, ‘He’s damn close enough, and we’d better fight.’” The articles that followed laid out what life in the US under a second Trump term might be like. They imagined far greater repression of minorities, a violent clampdown on illegal immigration, co-option of the US military by Trump, infiltration of the US state by hardline ideologues, the hollowing out of democratic institutions and curtailment of civil liberties. It would certainly look a lot like fascism.

How Trump Weaponized White Rural America’s Shame

By Arlie Russell Hochschild | September 12, 2024 11:28 AM EDT

https://time.com/7020792/trump-white-rural-america-shame-blame-essay/

Ideas about pride vary surprisingly with a person’s political party. As one recent Pew survey shows, 71% of those who were or lean Republican think people are rich because they “work hard.” When asked why a person ends up being poor, only a third of Republicans say it’s due to circumstances beyond their control. So, in a terrible irony, those who face a tougher economy blame themselves for failing. They feel a more painful pinch between the cultural terms set for earning pride and the economic opportunity to do so.

Blue-collar whites in economically suffering rural or semi-rural areas — most of whom are Republican — are likely to base their pride on an older, stricter version of the Protestant Ethic: if you succeed at work, you take the credit, and if you fail, you take the blame. Such a man is likely to embody what I call a “pride paradox.”

The pride paradox is central to the great appeal of Donald Trump. It is through his masterful ability to shift shame into blame that he has pushed much of white working-class America to accept his turn to the far right, a matter that seems baffling or crazy to many outside it.

His supporters hear in his words an anti-shame ritual. This ritual is composed of four moments: In Moment 1 Trump says something transgressive. To take an early example, when he announced his presidential bid in 2015 he declared, “when Mexico sends its people…they’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.” In Moment 2, the punditry shames Trump, saying in essence, “You can’t say that! How disgraceful.” After Trump’s Mexican rapist remark, Macy’s announced that it would discontinue Trump’s menswear line. NBC — which hosted Celebrity Apprentice — announced it was severing ties “due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump.” Univision revoked its promise to air Trump’s Miss America and Miss Universe contests.

In Moment 3, Trump turns to his followers saying in effect: They hurt me. I’m in pain, as you are. I’m suffering for you. Then comes Moment 4, the most important: Trump roars back at the shamers. “If NBC is so weak and so foolish,” Trump said in 2015, “as to not understand the serious illegal immigration problem…” and he unleashed accusations against a variety of enemies — Macy’s, NBC, the “treasonous press,” the “deep state,” and the Democratic party — saying, in effect, I will protect you against these causes of your distress.

Later repetitions of this ritual have begun with different provocations. For example, Trump’s claim that immigrants “poison the blood” of America, or after the 2017 killing in Charlottesville, that “there are good people on both sides,” or the claim that some Black Lives Matter protest participants were “animals.”

When I outlined the idea of this 1-2-3-4 shame ritual to a Republican business developer in eastern Kentucky who led a spirited 20-mile pro-Trump vehicle parade before the 2020 election, he laughed out loud. “Sure. That’s right. Trump can’t be shamed.” I asked him if Trump didn’t sometimes poke the bear — that is, provoke liberal critics to shame him, enabling him to claim victimhood and roar back. Again, he laughed and said, “Sure.” When I asked Andrew Scott, mayor of Coal Run, Ky., he replied, “Yes, Trump taunts the liberal media to taunt us, and they fall for it every time. And then the networks make money covering it.”

This turn from shame to blame and revenge has been meanwhile exacerbated by some liberal taunting. Hillary Clinton’s description of Trump backers as “a basket of deplorables” or Bette Midler’s tweet describing West Virginians as “poor, illiterate and strung out” are used to expand an imagined army of enemy shamers. Whipping up a sense of anger at such shaming, Trump has transformed lost pride into stolen pride and vowed “retribution” against the imagined thief — a deep state, a treasonous press and an uncaring liberal left.

As the Book of Proverbs says, without wood, there is no fire. Sadly, the wood kindling this fire — burning slowly in the declining white working class since the 1970’s — is shame. And the politics now attached to it is a danger to us all. The way forward is to think back through the emotional logic of the anti-shaming ritual—from 4 to 3 to 2 to 1 and the situation that has made that ritual so strongly appealing in the first place. Then, in times to come, we need to fix the nation’s economy, revise its culture of pride, and heal its divided heart.

Why Trump and Vance’s strategy is ‘say anything, make up anything’

From Vance’s penchant to ‘create stories’ to Trump’s false claims, lies are brazenly flaunted as a tactic to win support

JD Vance was holding court on CNN’s State of the Union programme. “The American media totally ignored this stuff,” he complained last Sunday, “until Donald Trump and I started talking about cat memes.”

But it wasn’t just a meme, objected interviewer Dana Bash. The Republican vice-presidential nominee gave a telling response: “If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention, then that’s what I’m going to do.”

If ever there was a case of saying the quiet part out loud, Vance had perfected the art.

But Vance’s willingness to “create stories” to grab attention before the November’s election hinted at a new frontier in post-truth America, where a lie is no longer slyly distributed but rather brazenly flaunted as a tactic to win political support and stir up social chaos.

Their entire strategy is to say anything, make up anything, invent false narratives to try and distract away from the very real consequences of their radical and extreme agenda that is so far out of the mainstream of the American people’s interests. They think they have a better chance of winning by making up insane stories about people eating pets versus having a substantial conversation about the consequences of their policy agenda.

Trump has spent years exaggerating his personal wealth and charity giving, misleading the public about ventures such as Trump University and even misrepresenting his own height and weight. From 2011, he was a leading promoter of the false conspiracy theory that Barack Obama had been born in Kenya and was therefore not eligible to be US president.

From his inauguration on, Trump made more than 30,000 false or misleading claims during his four years in the White House. He memorably claimed to have presided over the biggest tax cut ever – in fact, Ronald Reagan’s was bigger – and repeatedly downplayed the coronavirus pandemic, telling the public that it would soon “disappear”.

But perhaps the biggest lie of all came on the night of the 2020 presidential election when Trump claimed that he had won. He stuck to this position, arguing that it had been “stolen” from him through widespread voter fraud, ultimately leading to a deadly insurrection at the US Capitol on 6 January 2021. He has since recast the rioters as martyrs and “patriots”.

Now making his third consecutive bid for the White House, Trump’s mendacity has, if possible, shifted up a gear.

Charlie Sykes, a conservative author and broadcaster, said: “What JD Vance is saying is that the facts don’t matter and that I am completely unashamed to have peddled a false story.”

“It underlines the degree to which Trump and Vance and the Maga movement are addicted to these fake online internet memes and unshakeable in their attachment to them. Even when they are refuted, they stick with them, which is a dangerous thing because it means that no matter how much evidence you can provide, no matter how dangerous the lies turn out to be, they’re not going to back off.”

Sykes warned: “They’re going to keep pushing. Extrapolate this to what’s going to happen in November and the election results. Extrapolate it to anything.”

Trump “Doesn’t Know The Gentlemen”

By Andrew Tobias | September 22, 2024

https://andrewtobias.com/he-doesnt-know-the-gentlemen/

Something NEW no Trump fan will allow himself to be exposed to is FROM RUSSIA WITH LEV.

Trump, of course, doesn’t know Lev. Or Igor. Might have had a photo with them — he has photos with thousands of people! But he “doesn’t know the gentlemen.”

Ha!

Watch!

So fun — except for the fact that it really happened yet Trump could still be elected; and millions of his followers will only accept the results if he is.

Plot summary

A documentary exploring Lev Parnas' involvement in the Trump-Ukraine scandal that resulted in the former president's impeachment, detailing Parnas' unexpected entanglement with Trump and Giuliani, leading to his incarceration.

Signym, I defamed Trump in your opinion? Numerous times Trump did the deeds which made him infamous. He went even more infamous by vowing revenge on anyone referring to his infamy, per Voice of America:

June 10, 2024 6:54 PM

Former President Donald Trump has been increasingly clear about his intention to use the power of the presidency to seek revenge on those he considers his political enemies if his bid to retake the White House is successful in the November elections.

Trump’s promises of retaliation are not new. Since entering the political arena in 2015, he has used the politics of grievance to motivate many of his supporters. While addressing a crowd last year at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, Trump declared, “I am your warrior. I am your justice. And for those who have been wronged and betrayed, I am your retribution.”

However, in the days after he was found guilty of 34 felony counts in a New York state court last month, a case in which he has not yet been sentenced, Trump’s promises of revenge have not been made on behalf of his supporters, but as a reaction to his own personal legal difficulties.

Signym, dear old Trump keeps vowing revenge not solely because he is unsound in mind but because his Trumptards like the idea:

Goggle Trump+vow+revenge to see how frequently revenge is on Trump's mind.

Trumptards can't imagine what could go wrong with giving Trump the power of death since he is approximately as sane as them. I absolutely agree.

Biden won that popularity contest by less than 4 points, and we all know what happened in 2016.

Harris will NEVER rise above 1 or 2 points in the aggregate on Trump, even with the gaslighting. She's peaked. This is her plateau.

Once they can't hide her anymore and everybody gets to see how dumb she is and how toxic her policies are for our country, it's all over for you.

The DNC was August 19th through the 22nd. RFK dropped out of the race on August 23rd.

Both of these events are now baked into the polls.

Morning Consult's most recent poll put Harris at +3 when its previous poll had her at +4. Outside of Rasmussen Reports, any polls that have Harris higher than the last time they polled were a LONG time ago and predated the DNC.

On this day in history Biden was up +7.1 and Clinton was up +3.1 in the meaningless Popular Vote. Harris is only up 1.8 points.

On this day in history, Joe Biden lead by +6.5 and Hilary Clinton lead by +1.3.

Don't worry though. This was damage that Clinton did by calling half the country deplorable. The Legacy Media did a great job killing discussion on that and slowly gaslit everyone into believing she was up +6.7 by the middle of October.

September 23rd:

40 Days. That's what I got. Kamala rose to 2.2 in the RCP aggregate for the Popularity Contest on Sunday, 41 days after I said she would not rise above 2.

So she has.

Not sure how, seeing how many black people and union members are not going to vote Democrat this cycle.

Clinton began her upswing that saw her once again peak at +6.7 on October 17th this weekend. In only 2 days she'd risen from +1.3 to +2.6 today.

Kamala is now at 2.2. If the election were held tomorrow and the polls were as skewed in favor of Democrats as they have been the last 2 elections, Trump still wins the popular vote.

Yale historian Timothy Snyder, who accurately predicted Trump’s insurrection, makes a startling new prediction: “We’re looking almost certainly at a Republican attempt in 2024 to take power without winning the election.” He warns that Republican-controlled state legislatures will suppress Black votes and give the legislatures control over casting electoral votes in 2024 to, even if they lose by 10 million votes, “still appoint the president of their choosing.” He says that while most coup attempts fail, “a failed coup is practice for a successful coup.”

This historian predicted Jan. 6. Now he warns of greater violence.

By Dana Milbank | July 15, 2021

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/07/15/american-democracy-
survived-its-reichstag-fire-jan-6-threat-has-not-subsided
/

In September, I wrote that the United States faced a situation akin to the 1933 burning of Weimar Germany’s parliament, which Hitler used to seize power.

“America, this is our Reichstag moment,” the column said, citing the eminent Yale historian Timothy Snyder on the lessons of 20th-century authoritarianism. Snyder argued that President Donald Trump had “an authoritarian’s instinct” and was surrounding the election in “the authoritarian language of a coup d’etat.” Predicted Snyder: “It’s going to be messy.”

Trump enablers such as Sen. Lindsey Graham scoffed. “With all due respect to @Milbank, he’s in the bat$hit crazy phase of Trump Derangement Syndrome,” the South Carolina Republican tweeted, with a link to my column.

But now we know that 1933 was very much on the mind of the nation’s top soldier, Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. “This is a Reichstag moment,” Milley told aides of Trump’s “stomach-churning” lies about election fraud. “The gospel of the Führer,” Milley labeled Trump’s claims.

Milley, as reported in a forthcoming book by The Post’s Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker, feared that people around Trump were seeking to “overturn the government,” saw that pro-Trump protesters would serve as “brownshirts in the streets” — and was determined that “the Nazis aren’t getting in” to block Joe Biden’s inauguration.

American democracy survived that coup attempt on Jan. 6. But the danger has not subsided. I called Snyder, who accurately predicted the insurrection, to ask how the history of European authoritarianism informs our current state.

“We’re looking almost certainly at an attempt in 2024 to take power without winning election,” he told me Thursday. Recent moves in Republican-controlled state legislatures to suppress the votes of people of color and to give the legislatures control over casting electoral votes “are all working toward the scenario in 2024 where they lose by 10 million votes but they still appoint their guy.”

History also warns of greater violence. “If people are excluded from voting rights, then naturally they’re going to start to think about other options, on the one side,” Snyder said. “But, on the other side, the people who are benefiting because their vote counts for more think of themselves as entitled — and when things don’t go their way, they’re also more likely to be violent.”

The extinguishing of our Reichstag fire on Jan. 6 made Trump’s failed coup less like 1933 Germany than 1923 Germany, when Hitler’s clownish Beer Hall Putsch failed. Historically, most coup attempts fail. “But a failed coup is practice for a successful coup,” Snyder said. This is what’s ominous about the Republicans’ determination to sabotage investigations that could help us learn from the Jan. 6 insurrection. Also ominous is the move in many Republican-controlled states to ban schools from teaching about systemic racism — “memory laws,” Snyder calls them — which “feeds into this authoritarian turn” by providing cover for the new attempts to disenfranchise more non-White voters. “They’re trying to ban the discussion of things like voter suppression, and it’s precisely the history of voter suppression which allows us to see it for what it is,” Snyder said.

It all boils down to this: “One of our two political parties is currently on an undemocratic track. That’s just the way it is, I think, for the 2022 and 2024 cycles.”

Many others are sounding similar alarms. A survey of 327 political scientists released this week by Bright Line Watch, a project by scholars at Dartmouth College, the University of Chicago and the University of Rochester, found widespread concern: The experts collectively estimated a 55 percent likelihood that at least some local officials will refuse to certify vote counts in 2024, a 46 percent likelihood that one or more state legislatures will pick electors contrary to the popular vote, and a 39 percent likelihood that Congress will refuse to certify the election.

This is why I write column after column not on the Biden administration, which is governing in conventional ways, but on the totalitarian lurch of the Republican Party. Admittedly, I’m partisan — not for Democrats but for democrats. At the moment, they are one and the same. Republicans have become an authoritarian faction fighting democracy.

This is also why the attempt in Washington to protect voting rights must have primacy if we are to arrest the slide into political violence. “Voting rights is critical,” Snyder explained, because “it makes violence less likely” and it “will make the Republicans become a party that competes again instead of a party which just tries to rig the game at every stage.”

At the moment, Republicans are “digging themselves ever deeper into becoming a party which only wins by keeping other people from voting, and that’s a downward spiral,” he argued. The way to extinguish the next Reichstag fire is to demand — and require — that Republicans honor the right of all Americans to vote.

Biden is an old man who recognizes a Nazi when he sees one. If Trump wins, Biden will execute him. The Supreme Court ruled that the President can kill a political rival. In a monumental ruling in July, the court effectively gave the twice-impeached president near-total immunity for most criminal acts he might commit in office were he to return to power. Delivering a blistering dissent, Justice Sonia Sotomayor argued that “the President is now a king above the law” and could be immune even from ordering the assassination of political rivals.

“What’s so strange about that Supreme Court decision is that it actually creates a space where the president doesn’t need to do anything anymore to justify his actions,” said Edward Watts, a historian at the University of California, San Diego. “For example, you don’t need to create a state of emergency to assassinate your rival.” In ancient Rome, Watts said, “even the most tyrannical emperors had to create justification for killing people.”

Besides total immunity for killing political rivals, Biden also knows about President James Buchanan, rated worst President in history for allowing Confederate President Jefferson Davis and General Robert E Lee the freedom to do as they pleased while Buchanan was President. Biden might be strongly motivated to kill Trump, only after he wins, so as to not be in competition with Buchanan for worst President in history. For killing Trump, Biden will be competition with Truman, who nuked Japanese children. Sometimes a President has gotta kill without a trial to set things straight.

Kamala Harris Will Flip Two Critical Trump States, Says Ex-RNC Chair

By Theo Burman | Sep 23, 2024 at 6:00 AM EDT

https://www.newsweek.com/kamala-harris-flip-swing-states-rnc-chair-don
ald-trump-1957648s

Vice President Kamala Harris is within striking distance of taking two major swing states, which would spell doom for Donald Trump's campaign, according to a former Republican National Committee chair.

The Democratic nominee could potentially pick up North Carolina and Florida, instantly winning the election, according to top Republican Michael Steele, who headed the party's committee from 2009 to 2011.

If Harris won North Carolina and Florida, along with every other non-swing state that President Joe Biden won in 2020, she would receive 272 Electoral College votes, enough to win the election, even if former President Donald Trump won every other swing state. With 16 votes from Georgia as well, Harris would have 288 votes.

Speaking to MSNBC on Sunday, Steele said that several traditionally red states could fall to Harris in November, also highlighting Georgia, which has been a top priority for both candidates.

"This coalition being created right now by Kamala Harris and Tim Walz is not just one to watch," Steele said. "It will be one that the history books will study, when she takes this thing to victory. Florida and North Carolina will fall, along with Georgia."

Steele attributed the flips to his party's hardline stance on abortion, which he believes could alienate traditional Republican voters in the swing states, especially women.

"Abortion is in play. What that does is it draws in center-right voters that would otherwise be aligned with the Republican party. That falls away because of the heavy-handed nature in which Republicans want to control women's bodies. The Right is taking away rights, and that doesn't sit well."

The first Black chair of the RNC, Steele has been a longtime critic of Trump, refusing to endorse him in both 2016 and 2020, and he branded him as a racist in 2018 over the former president's description of "sh*thole" countries.

Newsweek contacted the Trump campaign for a response to Steele's comments.

Your hero, Joe Biden, ain't gonna rescue anybody from anything.

But you should surely come to the attention of our security state.

******

I find it pointless to argue about polling data, or to predict who's going to win.

WE don't get to see the real polling data - yanno, the polls that the campaigns commission for themselves. All we get to see is the propaganda that the MSM and deep state neocons churn out. And assasination. There's always that. And if the vote counting isn't being messed with, it's the voter rolls, or the voting process itself.

Why does the deep state try to get everyone riled up about nonexistent "election interference" from abroad when we have so much of it at home?

Hardly anybody talks about what they think the candidates' policies are gonna be.

Oh, BTW, I pretty much discount everything the DNC platform promises, and about 80% of what Trump says.

But both candidates have a policy track record by now so it should be possible to project their agendas. Furthermore, a President's unique bailiwick is foreign policy, something that Americans don't think about much, but should.

Kamala will do whatever her puppeteer will tell her to do, and if her puppeteer is the Obama clan, she is wedded to the "lead from behind" CIA approach. That is, continue with the globalist and neocon agenda, just don't leave her fingerprints on it. So, more regime change/ nation destruction operations, I imagine the focus will change from Europe to the BRICS and ASEAN nations. More money to central banks. Attempts to regime change Georgia (the nation) again. Deficit spending. No border control. More "woke" divisiveness.

Trump is more specific. Border control. Fewer wars. Unwavering support for Israel. Tariffs.

This election is a choice between serious leadership and vengeful impulsiveness. It is a choice between democracy and authoritarianism. Vice President Harris defends America’s democratic ideals, while former President Donald Trump endangers them.

More than 700 current and former national security leaders, as well as former military officials, endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in a letter released on Sunday . . .

I noticed that none of these big, brave, retired warriors swore that they would stop Trump, no matter what the personal cost to themselves, should Trump claim to have won. It is up to Biden or else Trump does not get stopped when he falsely (or truly) declares victory.

It's moot.

Trump wins in a landslide.

At this point I think the Legacy Media is either willfull or unwittingly engaging in a lie so big here you're going to see the college "educated" white people burn down cities after the results are tallied up.

Democrats have had HUGE losses in support among men of all ages across every skin color. Among blacks, Mexican-Americans, the unions, and even among the Muslim population they pander to daily, their support has fallen. The only two demographics they are arguably improving on is college "educated" and white women.

There are not enough college "educated" white women in America to turn the tables with the abortion debate.

This race is not even close. It never has been. All of the gaslighting since they performed a coup on Joe Biden* has lead to nothing. Just a "lead" in the Popularity Contest by so little that Trump still wins the popular vote if you go by how bad the polls are historically in favor of Democrats.

Mitt Romney’s Trump problem

What will Romney do if Donald Trump wins?

When Coppins asked what a second Trump term would mean for Romney, the senator hesitated.

Coppins writes:

“I don’t know the answer to that,” Romney said. If Trump tried to sic the Justice Department on him, Romney told me, “The good news is I haven’t had an affair with anybody, I don’t have any classified documents, I can’t imagine something I’ve done that would justify an investigation, let alone an indictment.”

What about his sons? Might they be targeted?

“I mean, hopefully they’ve all crossed their t’s and dotted their i’s,” Romney replied, straining to sound casual. “But it’s hard for me to imagine that President Trump would take the time to go out and see if (he) can find something on members of my family.”

“You might need to expand your imagination,” I suggested.

Romney grew irritated. “Yeah, but I’ve got 25 grandkids!” he said, throwing up his hands. “How am I going to protect 25 grandkids, two great-grandkids? I’ve got five sons, five daughters-in-law — it’s like, we’re a big group.” This was clearly a problem to which he’d given serious thought, and realized there was no solution. In the weeks after January 6, he’d spent thousands of dollars a day to protect his family from red-capped vigilantes. But how do you hide a family of 40 from a president hell-bent on revenge?

Realizing I’d hit a nerve, I tried to steer the conversation toward safer ground. It was possible, of course, that Trump’s “retribution” rhetoric was all bluster. But Romney didn’t seem comforted.

“I think he has shown by his prior actions that you can take him at his word,” he told me, his voice suddenly subdued. “So, I would take him at his word.”

The danger of a Trump campaign on a losing trajectory

Talk of Haitian immigrants eating pets in Springfield conceals Trump's tour of sundown towns in battleground states

By Chauncey DeVega | September 24, 2024 6:00AM (EDT)

Gore Vidal was correct when he observed that the American people do not have a memory of the last week. “We are the United States of Amnesia," the famed novelist concluded. "We learn nothing because we remember nothing.” Given America’s state of hyperpolitics, the black hole that is the attention economy spurned on the 24/7 news media, and a public that is not able to concentrate longer than a goldfish, Vidal now looks much too generous.
. . .

White America practices a type of selective remembering that is grounded in an eternal present, where the complex history of the country and the color line are flattened and distorted. In this narrative, there are great men like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. show up, read a speech, die by violence and are robbed of their radicalism and inducted into the pantheon of American heroes. Miraculously, the "race problem" is solved. The election of Barack Obama is cited as further proof that racism and white supremacy have largely been vanquished. In the Age of Trump, the long arc of history has been twisted and distorted to such an extreme that now white people are perceived as the "real victims" of racism,” rather than Black and brown people. There is no substantive evidence to support such fantasies of white victimology.

Ultimately, because the American people (specifically many white people and those mercenary Black and brown people invested in accessing the privileges of whiteness) live a selective relationship to history, where the past is almost like a motherless child, they possess a limited ability to confront the challenges we are facing as a country. Thus the American people and their political elites are unable to respond effectively to Trumpism and the neofascist authoritarian movement because they still believe in the fiction of American exceptionalism and believe that fascism is something that happens “over there” by definition, and cannot be homegrown.

In one of the most recent and dangerous examples of how America’s organized forgetting has negatively impacted our public discourse and politics, Donald Trump, JD Vance and other mouthpieces and agents of the MAGA movement have recently claimed that Black Haitian refugees in Springfield, Ohio, are eating white people’s dogs and cats and presumably other pets as well.

The mainstream news media and political class — and many among the general public — are responding with shock and disgust that Trump and his agents would traffic in such obvious white supremacist and racist conspiracy theories that are dehumanizing and inciting violence against innocent people. However, alongside that disgust and outrage is a general failure to understand how these attacks against the Haitian community — which are auxiliary to the larger campaign of racism and misogyny against Kamala Harris — are part of a much older history of white supremacy and racist conspiracy theories and violence in America.

First and most importantly: there is no evidence to support this racist fear-mongering about Haitians. Vance has all but admitted that his claims that Haitian refugees are eating pets are not true. But the facts and the truth have little meaning or importance for racists and white supremacists because their ideology and beliefs are based on the twin lies of the race concept and that race is a real thing. Those people deemed to be “white” are thought to be somehow inherently superior to nonwhites.

Racist conspiracy theories and rumors about Black and brown immigrants eating white people’s pets have a long history. Such lies are routinely circulated by white supremacists and other racists and nativists when there are changes, real or perceived, in the country’s racial and ethnic demographics.

Springfield, like other parts of the country, has a history of anti-black violence including lynchings. Eleven African-Americans were lynched in Springfield, Ohio, between 1902 and 1904, as leading sociologist Joe Feagin explained:

Historically, Springfield, Ohio, like other U.S. cities, has experienced major racial conflict and segregation tracing back to the city’s early 1900s race riots. White riots in 1904, 1906, and especially in 1908 were motivated by white efforts to "cleanse" the city of its growing Black immigrant population. ...

The 1908 Springfield riot was particularly savage. Beginning as an attempt to lynch Black men falsely accused of crimes, when a white lynch mob discovered these men had been moved away, they took out their racist rage on the city’s Black community, destroying businesses and homes and killing several other Black men. This early white violence was followed by much racial segregation and discrimination in the city that targeted the Black community.

Neo-Nazi groups, Feagin continues, "have racially targeted Springfield, starting the false claim that Haitian immigrants there are eating pets, a phony claim picked up and used by GOP politicians like Trump and Vance in public statements."

Phillip Dray, author of "A Lynching at Port Jervis: Race and Reckoning in the Gilded Age," offered this historical context for the racist lie about Haitians in Springfield:

"One thing I've been reminded of during the current Springfield situation is the response of Black anti-lynching crusaders to the lynching scourge of the post-Reconstruction era, that at its deepest level, it represented not whites' fear of Black crime or sexual transgression, which was sensationalized and exaggerated, so much as the opposite, white resentment of the political and economic progress Black people had made, along with their increased social mobility.

Today, the faux claims that Haitian immigrants are eating white people's pets seem to speak of a final desperate phase, much as Southern whites in Reconstruction, as Frederick Douglass argued, first fought imagined Black insurrection, then turned to securing white control of the ballot, and eventually to the fiction that Black men were sexually assaulting white women.

What truly disturbs JD Vance and other dubiously concerned whites is that what is actually taking place in Springfield — a successful integration of Black immigrant workers and their families into a struggling Rust Belt city — is a welcome development that local white officials characterize as a "resurgence." For white supremacists like Vance and Trump, however, it is a glimpse of the functioning multi-ethnic, multi-racial future they most fear.

As a direct result of MAGAworld’s lies and provocations (which now include claims that Haitians are spreading HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis), there have been several days of bomb threats and other terrorist threats targeting the Haitian community in Springfield (and nonwhites more generally). Racist street thugs have also been seen in the streets of Springfield, and the mayor has invoked his emergency powers.

In a speech last week in Tucson, Arizona, Donald Trump, a man who has been found liable for sexual assault, launched into a lurid fantasy "about young American girls being raped and sodomized and murdered by savage criminal aliens.” At a rally in Uniondale, New York, on Wednesday, he was even more explicit:

“I’ve been talking about migrant crime for five years. I said, if you let them in, it’s going to be hell. They are vicious, violent criminals that are being led into our country, their people that their countries, who are very smart, they don’t want them. That’s why, all over the world, a lot of people coming from jails, out of the Congo in Africa.

Where do you come from? "The Congo." ... Where in the Congo? "We come from jail." What did you do? "We will not tell you.” ...They’re coming from the Congo. They’re coming from Africa. They’re coming from the Middle East. They’re coming from all over the world ... and what’s happening to our country is we’re just destroying the fabric of life in our country, and we’re not going to take it any longer. And you got to get rid of these people. ... For every New Yorker being terrorized by this wave of migrant crime, November 5 will be your Liberation Day. It’s going to be liberation because you are living like hell. You’re living a life like hell.

Leonce Gaiter, author of "A Memory of Fictions," offered the following insights on Trump and the MAGA movement’s race-baiting and appeals to white racial violence:

“A Trump campaign on a losing trajectory leans on its main appeals — race hatred and white supremacy. Trump’s and Vance’s blatant lies about Haitians in Springfield are an invitation for their white supporters to revel in their collective revulsion at dark-skinned immigrants and Black people in general. It’s a MAGA team-building exercise. It supports their power to spin lies with impunity while reinforcing Trump’s status as vortex of white grievance-as-religion, as well as white, Christian, male dominance and contempt for everyone else as a political platform.

Philosopher and fascism scholar Jason Stanley warned of the destructive results that await us if Trump and his agents continue with such provocations and incitements:

“Dehumanizing rhetoric has become so normalized in U.S. politics that it has become easy to ignore it. In the lead up to the Rwandan genocide, Tutsis became used to being called snakes and cockroaches. They did not expect what this vocabulary prefigured for their lives.

“ Now, we face from the Republican candidate for president straightforwardly genocidal speech about non-white immigrants, together with very real Nazi like threats of deportation, “remigration” and explicit descriptions of concentration camps.

“Is there any country in history where such talk has not led to widespread state atrocities, along a continuum that ends in Rwanda? When will Americans listen to history to understand what will happen?

Trump has also been mining America’s white supremacist and racist past for narcissistic and political energy and momentum by holding rallies in what are known as “sundown towns.” These are largely white communities, as identified by the late historian James Loewen and other experts and activists, where in earlier eras, either by law or custom, Black people (and sometimes other nonwhite people) were not allowed to be within the city or town limits after dark. Black and brown people who violated these rules would be subjected to prison, fines, physical violence and sometimes death.

Sundown towns were also maintained as all-white spaces through pogroms and ethnic cleansing campaigns. It is estimated that dozens if not hundreds of Black communities were destroyed by such acts of white terrorism and mob activity. American society remains highly segregated by race and class. That is the legacy of sundown towns.

"Although Springfield, Ohio, was not officially a 'sundown town,'" Feagin notes, "it came close to this definition as evidenced by the white race riots and other aggressive white efforts to maintain an all-white Springfield."

When Trump and his agents dream of “Making America Great Again” and fighting back against alleged “reverse racism” or the myth that whites are being “replaced” in their “own country” by nonwhites and nonexistent "voter fraud," this is the social order he and they want to restore.

Donald Trump’s base of support remains solid. His strategy of racism and white supremacy on steroids has not hurt him among his base. Moreover, Trump and the Republican fascists have suffered few political penalties for their racist and white supremacist language, behavior and policies, or for their general contempt for multiracial and pluralistic democracy. White racism and racial resentment remain powerful forces in American life and politics. Trump and his movement are using those beliefs and values to acquire and hold power, even in a country that increasingly rejects their policies.

Wright Thompson, author of the new book "The Barn: The Secret History of a Murder in Mississippi," draws a provocative comparison:

“The political rhetoric of August and September 2024 in America reads eerily like a transcript of the political rhetoric of August and September 1955 in Mississippi. Most everyone knows the price Emmett Till paid for whistling on a summer Wednesday night. What almost no one knows is that the day before was Election Day, the culmination of a Mississippi governor's campaign marked by violent rhetoric and fear-mongering. Ambitious humans with no sense of ethics or shame, in both parties, have long said whatever it took to win votes. And ordinary people have paid, and let us not forget collected, a price for those words and votes.”

The mainstream American news media remains largely unwilling to strongly, consistently and forcefully condemn Trump and his followers’ racism and white supremacy. This reflects white racial fragility, where the bar for accurately describing racist behavior by public figures is set so high that it is almost unreachable by any standard of evidence. Instead, public discussions of racist behavior often default to vacuous discussions of intent, claims about what is in some white person’s "heart" or "bones." Racism and white supremacy are not simply about behavior or intentions. A mature and serious understanding of these things must focus on actual outcomes, public policies, impact, structures and institutions that unfairly privilege and advantage white people over nonwhites. Intentions and words have very little to do with it.

Donald Trump, his MAGA movement and the other neofascists are enemies of multiracial pluralistic democracy, not to mention human rights, freedom, equality and basic human dignity. That's the story that the mainstream news media, Kamala Harris and the country’s responsible political class need to tell over the next 43 days.

That must be why Dems promote war and kill hundreds of thousands of people, jail journalists and whistleblowers, stomp on free speech, regime-change democracies, impose vaccine mandates, and suck up to transnational corporations that hoover money from the poor to give to the rich.

Now I get it!

Oh... I wasn't referring to Republican voters vs. Democrat voters either.

I got a brother who lives on the east coast and spends all of his free time agonizing over his white guilt with his wife in their $1 Million Brownstone. I know that he's not an idiot, but I realize that's just anecdotal. Don't ask me to explain why he and his wife thought it was a good idea to buy my niece "Anti-Racist Baby" (I assume they read it to her every night before she went to bed and they weren't just "showing off" for their rich, white, east coast college "educated" friends). Also, don't ask me to explain why they didn't let anybody buy her any "gendered" clothing until she was old enough to verbally confirm to them that she was a girl. I'm hoping that when she started speaking she told them she didn't want them to read that shit to her anymore.

I assure you he was normal before he went away to college.

And yup... When EVERYTHING is "BREAKING NEWS" than nothing is breaking news.

Funny story about my one niece and her son. She wanted him to grow up sensitive and caring. So she asked him what he would do if he saw someone being bullied. He grabbed a Halloween sword we had lying around, swung it and said "I'd stab them! [The bully]" Not exactly the response she has in mind!

They Believe That Donald Trump Was Chosen by God to Be President. They’re Ready to Do Whatever It Takes to Make That Happen.

Sent by God
They’re gathering by the thousands. They’re growing fast. They believe that Democrats are possessed by demons—and that Donald Trump must be president again at any cost.
Quote:

I watched an older woman grow overcome by the proclamation that a protrusion in her abdomen was being burned out of her body. I watched another woman, in a blue dress, cover her face, shaking and nodding, when Murillo told her that she had been scheduled for an operation but that that operation was canceled, all glory to Jesus Christ. I watched him tell another person that multiple sclerosis was leaving their body, then point around the assembled and declare that the other ailments he sensed—“cancer,” “heart disease,” “a lump in the throat that is scaring you to death”—had vanished.

The crowd was euphoric, and my earlier panic softened into a deep sadness. This was why this segment of Christianity was growing so rapidly, I realized. So many of these attendees were desperately seeking healing and answers. They were, in some way or another, deeply disappointed in society, misdirecting their anger onto immigrants, gay teachers, and transgender people. But they were bound together by shared suffering.

Trump gets compared with history’s greatest villain because his rhetoric is really that bad:

. . . At a rally this past weekend in North Carolina, Trump declared that “a vote for Kamala Harris means 40 or 50 million more illegal aliens will invade across our borders, stealing your money, stealing your jobs, stealing your life.” Chillingly, he added that migrants were already “attacking villages and cities all throughout the Midwest.”

This followed earlier remarks in Arizona, in which he alleged that “young American girls” are “being raped and sodomized and murdered by savage criminal aliens.”

Because of the Electoral College, the national polls are irrelevant.

At the state level, despite the breathless headlines of “Trump leading by three” or “Harris up by two,” we have yet to see either candidate pull into a lead that is firmly outside the margin of error in the polling averages in any swing state. There are also typically 5-6 percentage points of respondents who either refuse the vote question or say they remain undecided. The state polls are also of limited help with understanding subgroups because of smaller sample sizes. For example, if you wanted to understand Black voters in Michigan, even with a poll of 1,000 voters, you’d likely have at most 150 African Americans in the sample and estimates of their opinions would have a margin of error of +/- 10 percentage points.

The most obvious, but perhaps also most surprising thing particularly given Donald Trump’s increasingly outright racist and erratic rhetoric, is how little the voting patterns have shifted since 2020 or even 2016. For example, despite everything Trump has done and even been convicted of, there’s no evidence of any erosion of support for Trump among white Christians or white frequent churchgoers. It’s a good indicator of what a death grip partisanship has on American voters.

Hey buddy. I'll be the first to say fuck the cultist churchy types who do all the shitty things that the people who don't go to church do when they know nobody is watching.

That being said, I'll take their help right now. No shame in it.

This is only 'bad' if you're an illegal alien. But it's good to call for America to protect its borders.
Right?
Unless you're FOR illegal aliens.

Yanno what what Trump is NOT doing?

He's not turning one half of America against the other half, pitting blacks against whites, atheists against Christians, and advocating that 'they' be jailed because of some made-up crime of 'extremism'
He's not calling for more war (except in the mideast, which is a terrible mistake).
He's not calling for censorship bc of some made up crime of 'disinformation" or 'hate speech'
He's not imposing social values from some central authority
He's advocating re-industrialization
He wants border control.

How is any of that 'bad'?
Dood, we've had four years of you, and look where we are now.
Our military is in one hot war, and trying to divide itself between that and two others.
We've been invaded by tens of millions of illegal aliens.
We're broke, nationally, financially, and individually.
We're worse off than four years ago
Why should you get another bite of the apple?

Every Trumptard I know was a worthless person before Trump got into politics. 6ix, that does not mean that every worthless person is a Trump person. Probably that is too hard a concept for you to understand. I will make it simpler: Some anti-Trump people are also worthless people. Now do you understand, 6ix?
