Trump didn't create these problems. So the answer isn't "not Trump".Let's pick one problem: the second on the list. Border. The solution to "Border" will be called "Culling" in the abstract. Think of it as the same as culling a herd of wild rampaging hogs, for example, tearing up a neighborhood, rooting up lawns looking for food. Congress will have to set "Culling" limits: How many migrants can be "culled" during a season? Can females be "culled" or only males? Can immature migrants be "culled"? To make "Culling" easier to understand, it could be the same as killing, but it also could be 1) arrest, 2) appearance before a judge, and 3) deportation. If Congress goes with the 1-2-3 steps to "culling," Congress will have to also pass a much larger budget to cover all those steps. Whatever rules a committee in Congress writes for "Culling" will never pass so long as there are 41 Senators of the opposing party. There has to be at least 60 votes to overcome a filibuster in the Senate. The result is no rules get passed by Congress for "Culling" migrants along the "Border" problem. The same is true with every problem on Signym's list. Until one party or the other has 60 or more reliable Senators, without one or more Senator Manchin pretending to be reliable yet completely unreliable, nothing is going to get done. The Founding Fathers, and Senators, have designed a governing system that was intended to gridlock until one side has a super-majority in Congress. That's a very poor design, unless the electorate is super-supportive of one party or the other. But at the moment the electorate is split approximately 50-50, as it has been for many decades. Quote:Originally posted by second: Former President Donald Trump on Sunday called for “one real rough, nasty” and “violent day” of police retaliation in order to eradicate crime “immediately.” The remarks were delivered by Trump at a rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, just 36 days before the election. I happen to be reading Max Boot's biography of Ronald Reagan right now, and Trump's outburst reminds me of Reagan's hardline attitude toward protesters at Berkeley while he was governor of California: "If it takes a bloodbath, let's get it over with." Echoing Trump, he said afterward that this was "just a figure of speech." In the end, the only major crackdown he initiated was the People's Park fiasco, which he mishandled badly, but he never backed down: "It should be obvious to every Californian that there are those in our midst who are bent on destroying our society," he said. His poll numbers soared. People might not have approved of what he did, but they loved the tough rhetoric. It showed whose side he was on, and most people took it as little more than venting. Both Trump and Reagan gave voice to one of the oldest and deepest conservative tropes: Show 'em who's boss and they'll back down. There's shockingly little evidence for this—just the opposite, in fact—but it retains an almost talismanic hold on the conservative mind. Lots of people love this kind of talk, even if they know it's mostly just talk. Of course, there are two big differences between Reagan and Trump. In 1969 crime really was increasing and there really was a lot of campus unrest. Today crime is down and campuses are generally quiet. Second, Reagan, for all his faults, wasn't insane. With Trump I'm not so sure. https://jabberwocking.com/unleash-the-cops-but-just-for-a-day/ Download a free copy of Max Boot's Reagan biography from the mirrors at https://libgen.is//search.php?req=Max+Boot+Reagan The Joss Whedon script for Serenity, where Wash lives, is Serenity-190pages.pdf at https://www.mediafire.com/two

Ask Trump "What would you do to bring down the prices at the grocery stores?" He can do nothing except to give people money to buy the food. Grocery stores would willingly accept two for the price of one coupons with Trump's picture on each, instantly cutting food prices in half. Well, Trump can't do even that until Congress gives him the money to pay those coupons when the grocery stores redeem them for cash.

Quote:Originally posted by 6ixStringJack: Oh boy, oh boy! Kamala is up 0.4 points in the aggregate after 3 weeks of gaslighting without any real interviews or a debate! On this day in 2020: Biden +7.5 On this day in 2016: Clinton +6.3 Biden won that popularity contest by less than 4 points, and we all know what happened in 2016. Harris will NEVER rise above 1 or 2 points in the aggregate on Trump, even with the gaslighting. She's peaked. This is her plateau. Once they can't hide her anymore and everybody gets to see how dumb she is and how toxic her policies are for our country, it's all over for you. Maybe some of you will finally stop blindly believing everything MSNBC tells you once this happens. Hope you're really enjoying yourselves in the meantime.
Quote:Originally posted by 6ixStringJack: Repost from last night because it got buried on the previous page after Second's bout of TDS this morning. 1.9 points. 1.9 points was Harris' peak. She hit 1.7 points on August 21st and has now floundered between 1.5 points and 1.9 points for the 17 days since. The DNC was August 19th through the 22nd. RFK dropped out of the race on August 23rd. Both of these events are now baked into the polls. Morning Consult's most recent poll put Harris at +3 when its previous poll had her at +4. Outside of Rasmussen Reports, any polls that have Harris higher than the last time they polled were a LONG time ago and predated the DNC. On this day in history Biden was up +7.1 and Clinton was up +3.1 in the meaningless Popular Vote. Harris is only up 1.8 points.
Quote:Originally posted by 6ixStringJack: Harris leads Trump +1.9 in the meaningless Popularity Contest polling aggregate. Harris briefly hit +2.0 for two days this week. If she doesn't rise to 2.1 on Saturday that's a 40 day streak on the initial prediction she would not rise above 2. On this day in history, Joe Biden lead by +6.5 and Hilary Clinton lead by +1.3. Don't worry though. This was damage that Clinton did by calling half the country deplorable. The Legacy Media did a great job killing discussion on that and slowly gaslit everyone into believing she was up +6.7 by the middle of October.
Quote:Originally posted by 6ixStringJack: 40 Days. That's what I got. Kamala rose to 2.2 in the RCP aggregate for the Popularity Contest on Sunday, 41 days after I said she would not rise above 2. So she has. Not sure how, seeing how many black people and union members are not going to vote Democrat this cycle. Clinton began her upswing that saw her once again peak at +6.7 on October 17th this weekend. In only 2 days she'd risen from +1.3 to +2.6 today. Kamala is now at 2.2. If the election were held tomorrow and the polls were as skewed in favor of Democrats as they have been the last 2 elections, Trump still wins the popular vote.

Quote:Federal spending is hard enough to keep track of at the best of times, but the Biden administration is highly adept at hiding how they fund their open-borders agenda. In a cynical budget negotiation tactic, the White house is now trying to push through a $40 billion “supplemental” funding bill that holds bailout money for FEMA hostage to sending billions more to Ukraine with insufficient accountability. It gets worse. If the White House tactic works, and Congress coughs up enough aid to Ukraine that rescue money for FEMA can get through, hundreds of millions of that funding won’t go to disaster-afflicted Americans, but to providing housing, food, health care and transportation for illegal immigrants through grants to activist NGOs and “sanctuary” cities. That’s right. Even though FEMA grants are meant to help taxpaying Americans prepare for and cope with hurricanes, fires and floods, the Biden administration has used these same funds to pay activist NGOs to settle migrants illegally in the United States. FEMA’s major disaster relief and flood insurance programs are already in debt and need to be refilled each year. The White House’s supplemental request uses that as a smokescreen to slip in grant money for their open-border operation. >>> President Biden’s Ukraine Supplemental Request Is a Border Trap FEMA’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program is already being siphoned for over $332 million “to assist communities receiving noncitizens released from custody,” which means housing migrants here illegally at the border, then transporting them to places like New York City. New York has been promised $104 million from this pot, though at a burn rate of $8 million a day, it won’t last long. Big city mayors gripe about a few buses sent by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, but the main train delivering migrants to their sidewalks is driven by DHS, using FEMA money. And the Biden administration is getting even more brazen. FEMA grant money, unlike its Disaster Relief and Flood Insurance programs, doesn’t require the president to declare a federal disaster—which would at least highlight the self-defeating results of his policies. So it should come as no surprise that DHS, in its fiscal 2024 budget, already asked for a directly appropriated $83.5 million for FEMA Shelter and Services Program grants to “nonprofits and local entities to provide support to noncitizens released from DHS custody.” Furthermore, DHS asked for $800 million—$650 million more than last year—“for communities to support migrants who have been released from DHS custody pending the outcome of their immigration proceedings.” Bear in mind that with the asylum system backlogged as never before, this outcome would be far in the future in most cases. The money would come from a $4 billion “Southwest Border Contingency" fund in DHS’s proposed fiscal 2024 budget. In plain English, this means that having created a giant magnet for illegal immigration, the Biden administration wants to continue to burn your tax dollars to sustain hundreds of thousands of people who entered the U.S. illegally, for an indefinite period. To be clear, not only did these people have no right to enter the country, but they stand little chance of getting asylum even after a due process lasting many years. >>> Congress Must Not Hold Hurricane Funds Hostage for More Ukraine War Money Naturally, Biden faces resistance in Congress. Republicans have seen DHS use appropriated money to facilitate mass illegal entry over the past two years, and they are wise to the White House’s attempt to ramp this up in the 2024 budget. Hence the attempt to Trojan-horse the immigration funds in the Ukraine-FEMA bundle. In the supplemental request, DHS is asking not only for $203 million more for Customs and Border Protection’s industrial migrant processing machine — which includes tent housing, transportation and medical care—but also $600 million more for the FEMA Shelter and Services Program grants. In a recent hearing before Congress, FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell tried to “clarify for the record that FEMA is not an immigration agency.” Yet she also proclaimed her support for Biden’s Southwest Border Contingency Fund, which would channel money to FEMA to spend on services to immigrants here illegally. But as a firefighter for two decades, Criswell surely knows which arsonist set the dumpster fire on the border that her agency’s cash-hose is now being pointed at. All this only adds to the reasons that Congress should oppose this corrupt deal. Tying a FEMA top-up to Ukraine aid—in the middle of hurricane season, and shortly after the deadly Maui fires—shows that the Biden administration will maintain open borders at any price.

The 36 affected ports have the combined capacity to handle as much as half of all US trade volumes, and the closures immediately halt container operations and auto shipments. Energy supplies and bulk cargo won’t be directly affected. Some exceptions will be made to allow for the movement of military goods and cruise ships. The significance of a work stoppage at every major container port from Houston to Miami and New York-New Jersey depends on how long the strike lasts. The economic loss from the shutdown, which began at 12:01 Tuesday morning Eastern Standard Time, will be between $3.8 billion to $4.5 billion a day, according to JPMorgan Chase & Co.
