There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Just a little more than thirty minutes ago, at the Browncoats site:

Hey guys.

I'm here on the official site, so that can only mean one thing: somebody finally told me my password! (Again.) It probably also means that I have some big-ass announcement or other. Well tops on the announcement list is this: after months of intensive yoga, i can finally touch my toes! (They feel round and bunion-y.)

But there's more! I'm talkin' movie news, peeps, so no more drumroll: Trailer. Serenity. Tuesday.

Yeah, kids, the haps is hap'nin', and it runs thus: EXCLUSIVELY on Apple movie trailers (and linked through this site as well of course) will be a small, medium, large or FULLSCREEN trailer for Serenity the major motion movie. Yeah, THE trailer. And the following Friday said trailer hits theaters. Which theaters? Until I get confirmation you'll have to guess, but I'm betting you can.

Now, here's a word of warning: this trailer ain't shy. If you're looking to live totally spoiler-free, know that there's plenty of key dialogue and images running through this bad boy. It's pretty tasty, though, and it doesn't give everything away. But close scrutiny will definitely learn you much of what's to come. (Anakin TOTALLY goes evil.) It's a nice piece to while away the time till September, and hopefully should intrigue th' peeps that don't have coats of brown.

The only thing more exciting than y'all finally seeing this was showing it to Nathan. Like a schoolboy giggled he.

Bye-ee!

If you had been registered there (and if you're a Browncoat, why aren't you?) the link should have taken you directly to Joss' post.

A moderator here must have edited my post because I just gave the link, I did not copy and paste the post into a quote format.

I remember reading an interview many years ago, with Brad Pitt and Edward Norton, I think just before "Fight Club" came out. The interviewer made some reference to that scene in "Meet Joe Black," where Brad-Pitt-the-human gets bounced off a few cars.

I don't remember the authors exact quote as to Pitt's reaction, but basically, the interviewer mentioned it, and Brad... well, like a schoolgirl giggled he.

Which made me think of this. Anything so deliciously evil is usually giggle-worthy.

I'm giggling myself, already.

Boards have problem. If you click "reply with qoute" on this board and you aren't logged in, it asks you to log in and then promptly forgets what you were quoting.

The rather lame board over there won't let you show a message unless you are logged in. If you are logged in his links goes to the message, if you aren't it goes to the front page where they would like you to register.

Right, just to repeat the offer I made about the trailer. I've seen the rough cut and I'm quite happy to make a post somewhere saying how spoilerish the trailer is, from 1 (where 1 is the Showgirls trailer) to 10 (which is the Speed 2 trailer). Then you can decide for yourself if you want to watch it. Sound good?

And it's so wrong that I'm excited about seeing a trailer for a movie I've already seen. A temporal hype paradox, perhaps.

thank you SimonWho, I would appreciate it.
I hate being spoiled
(like telling me 'who done it' before I read the mystery)
actually sometimes I don't even want casting spoilers
(luckily I didn't know Giles was gonna show up for the last two episodes of BtVS S6, and it was THRILLING when he appeared saying "I'd like to test that theory" - I actually burst into tears - you know it would never have been so exciting if I had known he was coming ahead of time).

I do trust Joss to prevent any serious spoilers to get into the trailer, but he probably wants to protect the 'Firefly' fans who know what to look for, and will 'get' a lot of information from even a glimpse....

oh why isn't it September yet?

A spoiler free version of the trailer? What a good idea and I might just be able to do that. I have spiffy new machine. I have video editing software. Plus I know which bits are spoilers and which bits aren't.

Wow, I could be like one of those DVD editing machines that cuts out violence, sex and words like "poopy" from films.

If you don't want to register on the browncoats site, you can go directly to Apple's site and it's movie trailers. The browncoat site just has a link to there anyway, if I'm interpreting the above quote correctly...

sounds like a plan. just, whatever you do, use a decent encoding.

quicktime: requires a player most people are having anyway, works for all platforms, not the smallest size though

divx: codec available for all platforms, good size, yet some people dont "get it" and rather install a complete player like quicktime than understanding what a codec is and why you need it for your usual player to know what to do with all those bits and bytes

xvid: like divx, open source, yet trickier to get, as the official site only offers the source. binary releases can be found with google, depending on player no annoying logo like divx in the corner

wmv: nice if youre using windows, "searching" is a pain without a decent player, forces mac users to jump lots of hoops to play it

real media: my pet peeve. all the "look at how SMALL the file is" makes people forget about "look at how godawful the quality is and what piece of junk the frigging player is", not to mention you spend a lot of time cleaning up your system after installing this %§%"$%

so, depending on the software you have available i'd go with mov/quicktime. that's the one i cant do (though i would need to check if the newer players cant export a basic avi as quicktime, which would be quite neat). next on the list would be divx (only for easier to obtain codec), though i'd probably use xvid and just include the download link for the codec.

anyway, wmv is last resort and a great way to annoy mac users, while rm is a great way to annoy pretty much everyone.

Since I've never seen either of those films or their trailers I am assuming you mean that your score of 1 means next to no spoilers, right?

As long as you don't cut out the swearing in Chinese from the trailer, I'm in. And I would prefer Divx encoded, but quicktime is good too.

The trailer for Showgirls was based around the idea that the movie was so scorchingly erotic, the only thing they could show you was the name. I'm sure everyone who's actually seen the movie is laughing their heads off (George and Mildred was more erotic).

The trailer for Speed 2 was aired on a TV show here and after it they just said "Was that the trailer or the entire movie?" which was a fair point as they did show pretty much everything from the boat blowing up to the anchor swinging to the bad guy's demise. And still people wouldn't go.

What I'm proposing is a trailer that cuts out any plot points (I'm assuming that as it's on the rotating headers on the main page, we all know there are reavers in the movie) or new characters, except minor ones and Cheiwitel Eijiofor (because we all know he's in it). Basically the cut down one shouldn't tell you anything you don't already know about the movie although it should be exciting to see it on screen.

Will I be able to upload it to the Blue Sun Room?

Wow, after trying for hours I can finally post (stupid Cortex).

Anyway, I got the email notification from the 'Versal site about Joss announcing the trailer going up tomorrow, and I am looking forward to it. At first I was hesitant to see it, you know those gorram spoilers and all, but I say to the Special Hell w/ the spoilers! I want my Firefly/Serenity fix gorram it!

I'll be there bright and early tomorrow waiting for that shiny trailer.

Wouldn't a spoiler free trailer just be a blank nothing...maybe it will have the part about the rating and a shot of the title of the movie. Other than that I consider about anything a spoiler. The costumes the characters wear. The way they hold their guns...assuming they hold guns in the movie. Anything. But maybe that's just me.
