My order at TFAW still says 'pending' (although to be fair, I didn't order all that long ago...maybe 2-3 weeks, so I could be backlogged behind thousands of other browncoats)

Anyone receive their orders from TFAW or 258W.A. or any other online outlet yet?

Jayne, your mouth is talkin. Might want to look into that.

Wasn't at my local comic shop either.

I'm gonna have to order issues 2 & 3, but I'm hoping to find the first one before I have to move back to Cornwall (with its zero comic stores, bookstores, and music stores ).

Drat. Made a special point of being around when the mailman showed up. No love. At least not today.

*eta (I've pre-ordered mine ordered through poplollies and here's what their website says, "Hot off the press's! issue #1 is running late it will now be shipping after July 19th").

What's worse, TFAW won't let you cancel a preorder either, so if you give in and get it at the corner comic book shop, you still have to pay for the TFAW order (although having extra Serenity comics can't be all that bad...) ;)

I'm in the same boat. I went to a comic book store yesterday and bought it anyway, then got online and found that there was no cancelling any of the three issues from TFAW. Oh, well. The guy at the store (the day after stores had it) was surprised. He said TFAW is usually ahead of them--which is why I ordered online. Maybe more of that patented unprecedented fan responese.

But I couldn't wait till next week; there was translating to be a-attempin!

this is really annoying, I pre-ordered w/tfaw too and haven't gotten mine yet either...
they are supposed to be Dark Horses' "official" online seller, but they are really not doing good with this comic...
we should have had them the same day as the comic book stores (I'm thinking of writing angry letters now...grrrr argh).

Oh, I'd forgotten that bit of info. Very annoying. Everyone being delayed a week is one thing, but not having them when retailers do--while being an official reseller--is pretty bad. If I could have, I would have cancelled my other TFAW Serenity pre-orders.

I preordered June 27th with tfaw and I was pending until yesterday now it also claims to be shipped, yeah! Well, I won't hold my breath. Something is odd, though. I copy it here, check thisut:

Title Est. Release Date Status
Serenity #3 (of 3) (Yu Cover) 09/07/2005 Pending
Serenity #2 (of 3) (Chen Cover) 08/03/2005 Pending
Serenity #1 (of 3) (Hitch Cover) 07/20/2005 Shipping week of 07/13/2005
Serenity #3 (of 3) (Phillips Cover) 09/07/2005 Pending
Serenity #2 (of 3) (Quesada Cover) 08/03/2005 Pending
Serenity #2 (of 3) (Bradstreet Cover) 08/03/2005 Pending
Serenity #1 (of 3) (Cassaday Cover) 07/20/2005 Shipping week of 07/13/2005
Serenity #1 (of 3) (Jones Cover) 07/20/2005 Shipping week of 07/13/2005
Serenity #3 (of 3) (Middleton Cover) 09/07/2005 Pending

The shipping and release dates for the first comic are weird. Any explanation? Maybe we will get the comics on the 20th

SERENITYRISING

I ordered my copy of Serenity #1 in advance from Midtown Comics, which is a chain of comic stores in Manhattan. They ship to their customers via UPS Ground. It arrived this morning (Friday), even before the fricking rest of my mail arrived!

So, obviously I was very happy. I do live in New York City, so that might explain the quickness.

BUT, they also ship to addresses throughout the United States, so you might try their website if your local store is not stocked:

http://www.midtowncomics.com/

Hope things work out well, it's definitely worth the trouble.

I'm getting VERY frustrated, last week TFAW stated that my comics were mailed the week of July 13th...
NOW they claim they are to be mailed the week of July 20th!!!!!
WTF?
Has anyone gotten a shipment from TFAW yet?

I've written to complain to them and to Dark Horse, because I can tell you that Marvel always got my Astonishing X-men comics to me on the day they arrived in stores.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Two of our members at our Firefly meetup this past weekend said that their orders are showing "delayed". I walked into the comic store next door to the place where we met, and lo & behold there sat a pile of Serenity #1s in all three covers. They each picked up one of each cover and left to cancel their orders.

Nope, my status is also claiming that it ships the week of 7/20 (changed from 7/13 as seen in my previous post) and I am not happy with the way they are handeling the whole situation.

Anyways, according to TFAW, they WILL ship this week (hopefully Wednesday). They said the shipment from Darkhorse arrived late. Hmmm...
I think they just couldn't handle the volume which caught them by surprise! Can't cancel my pre-order for #2, but I will order #3 from 258west which seems to have their act together!

I got mine from 258West in good time. I signed up for all nine covers, plus an extra of each three comics to read. The first three (plus 1 extra Mal) all showed up in clear plastic storage sleeves, with a thick paper liner, and were shipped in a cardboard "envelope". Granted, this is the first I've ordered from him, but I am pleased so far!

I really think they suck big time and I wish I had ordered through someone else.

If they delay tomorrow's shipment for any reason at all then I'm going to complain to BBB and make sure that TFAW knows I will cancel any payments they try to put through my credit card, so they'll be forced to cancel my pre-orders.

Okay, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and see what comes back. I'm on my last night in San Diego before heading back to NorCal (no, wasn't here for ComicCon) and I have no transportation, but does anyone know if there's a comic book store in downtown or the Gaslamp district. Is there an SD Browncoat who can score a copy and get it to me at the hotel I'm at? I'd love to read it on the flight home. Worse comes to worse, I'll just pick it up when I get back to the Silicon Gulch.

Thanks for the good comments all. Unlike a lot of comic places I saw the demand for serenity comics coming a mile away. Most places ordered like 10 or 12 copies ( total ) I ordered 3000. I also see a huge spike in demand after the movie comes out as well.

I am still working on shiping out more orders by the way so those who havnt got theirs yet, dont worry they are on the way and will be 1st prints to. Not 2nd printings most places who are restocking will be getting.

By the way, I just got Ron Glass to agree to sign 258 copies of the comic. ( woot )

ROCKETJOCK

I didn't pre-order; day before yesterday I just walked into my favorite comics shop and picked up issue #1.

I've got a real advantage here; I live right close to a truly world-class comic shop, Flying Colors in Contra Costa County, CA. Happy to report that they had all three variants on good display in their "Media Tie-Ins" section.

I've a feeling what happened here is that most Browncoats who were going to buy the comic (which is to say, most Browncoats), pre-ordered theirs just as most of the folk on this thread did.

Then some drone at the pre-order point waited for the last minute to check his/her ordering figures, and got caught flat-footed. This ain't an excuse, just a possible explanation.

The comic book series is to bridge the gap between the TV series and the BDM. So no problem reading the comic book before the movie, in fact I am sure it is the preferred way to do it.

I got to say I was a little disappointed in the comic, and that is to say there just wasn't enough in it. It was over before it began, but no problem I only paid to have it shipped by UPS over from the U.S. to the U.K.

LETOV

I stopped into Oxford Comics here in Atlanta this weekend and they had plenty. I was pleased when the store manager saw what I was buying and commented to one of the other employees there that they should be sure to order some more copies if/when there is another printing. He said it had been selling quite well.

While I was thrilled to have it in my hands, I was also a little dissapointed, it was over so quickly and made me simply want more. I'm hoping that the next two issues combine with it to make a single satisfying story. Still, have no doubt, I will be picking up the next two.

I received my copies from 258 West this week and I had them sent from New York to California via media mail which is the slowest mail that you can order. People who had UPS as their shipping method received their comics a week earlier than I did.

I have the same complaint as other people. The story was over too quickly. I expected the comics to cover a six month period but the first third of the series only covered a couple of hours.
