I'll have to break from the current herd and go with 'Out of Gas.' That was just the best in terms of acting, writing and directing. leaseways to my reckoning, FWIW.

The seamless changes from flashbacks to present kept me glued to the chair wanting to see what was gonna happen next and just what the gorram hell had already happened!

'Course 'Jaynestown' is pretty shiny, too. Especially the whole bit with Book's hair.

War Stories. It's fun, yet also serious and the crew dynamics are clearly shown. Not to mention it has the second most hi-larious torture scene that I have ever seen.

They weren't cows inside. They were waiting to be, but they forgot. Now they see sky, and they remember what they are.

Yes, the first being in the movie "The Punisher". Who knew that a popsickle could be such an effective torture tool?

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Definitely Out of Gas. It also had the best music score in my opinion.

I suppose putting my foot down and choosing one as my favorite, I'd have to say Out of Gas. It just defines Mal's love for his ship lets us meet how he met the crew. Although the Message comes in a close second.

Our Mrs. Reynolds is the episode I use to recruit new browncoats - my younger brother included. (Hi Geek Mafia!) My personal favourite, however, is Objects in Space. Everything about the episode is beautiful to watch. It's got the funny, it's got the scary, it's got the heartbreak (Simon: "She's just a kid..." Me: *sniff* *sniff* *blub*) it's got the suspense, it's got witty dialogue, it's got some of the best River scenes in the whole show, it's got a ~fabulous~ twist (Joss: "You actually thought River was the ship? You morons!") and above all this, it got shirtless Simon.

What's there not to love?

Out of Gas, hand down. That is the Firefly show I cherrish the most. As mentioned previously, the music is moving, the Lost style flash-backs (predating LOST), and the background into the characters reveals a love and understanding Mal has for them and his beloved ship.

Book: "Quite specific. It is however somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps"

I really like The Train Job! I think it was snappily put together and told quite a bit about the crew. Since people had to miss the actual pilot, it did a great job of introducing all the characters and moving the story along at a good pace.

Besides, I love Jayne "in charge."

I gotta go with Safe, because..SUMMER AND SEAN KICK ASS! Ummm, sorry for that outburst. It has everything: idiotic witchhunters, mindreaders, a rousing speech, defiance, and of course, the Big DAmn Heroes.

I think a little chaos is in order.

If you watch them all, can we count it as one big episode with intermission breaks? ...No? *sighs*

Well, Jaynestown tops my list, I never laughed so hard at my tv before. It had nice bits from everyone character-wise, with Simon being a big-brain and knowing about ancient Earth-That-Was civilizations, The Kaylee/Simon romance, all reactions to Jayne and him kinda feeling bad in his own way for the mudder's at the end. It didn't end on a real feel-good spot, I found myself wondering what became of them, when their hero and only source of pride returns, reveals he didn't give them money on purpose, and then pushs over the statue...

Dear Diary... Today, we were kidnapped by hill folk never to be seen again. It was the best day ever.

Jaynestown.

Just hilarious. The fact alone that they named a town after Jayne Cobb is enough to forever insure its place in my personal TV hall of fame.

I still laugh aloud just reading the script.

My fave episode... hmmm... it's real close but I'm gonna have to go with... Ariel. It's got a new kind of criminal mastermind, Jayne and his cortical electrodes, and the single best scene ever on television: Mal's talk with Jayne at the end. So good.

Grrr...

Ask the hardest question in the ruttin' verse.

If I absolutely must choose, I'd have to say "Shindig". Maybe it's the Kaylee in me, but he outfits are soooo shiny. As a very close runner up, however, I'd have to say "Objects In Space". The man who played Early (can't remember his name at the moment) was also in Good vs. Evil, another great show cancelled by the evil network conglomerates.

At last.

Our Mrs. Reynolds cause it's got the funniest line I've ever heard: "Oh I'm goin' to that special Hell..."

War Stories cause it's got the most badass scene with River blowin' away those 3 guys with her eyes closed.

Objects in Space cause Early is one of the most interesting characters I've ever seen.

Out of Gas cause the ending just really touched my heart, put a smile on my face, and made me shed a tear.

Okay that's four, but I couldn't pick just one.

It would be a tie between:

-Our Mrs. Reynolds &

-The Message

"I aim to misbehave."
"Can't do something smart, do something right".

HOMER: "Oh Lisa, you and your stories; Bart is a vampire, beer kills brain cells. Now lets go back to that... building thingy... where our beds and T.V.... is".

How do you choose????

I can't choose just one - how about four(ish)...

Drama = War Stories (*That* torture scene)

Comedy = Our Mrs. Reynolds (NF's amazing comic timing with JW's script - priceless)

Dramady = Out Of Gas (So funny, so sad, so funny, so...)

Action = Serenity Parts 1 & 2 (such incredible writing - all TV pilots should be so good!!!)

Welcome; I just joined like a week ago, so I'm still getting the lay of the land myself.

I have to say, I can't believe only one person's nominated Ariel so far. I think that's the one I'll have to go with... I think... man, is it ever an arduous choice; I love Objects in Space, Serenity 1&2, and Out of Gas too. But Ariel is the one that left me with the most reasons to leave my jaw on the floor.

Firstly, the action and plot is entirely character-driven; how rare and awesome is that? Inara brings them to Ariel, the initial robbery is Simon's idea, and the crisis, of course, is all thanks to Jayne.

Which brings me to the second reason: Jayne's betrayal. Candidate for the most shocking moment in the show, despite the fact that it is still COMPLETELY in character. It's just that you never think he'll actually betray them, because protagonists don't do that on television! Awesome decision to go against the cliché of the reformed mercenary, by showing that he isn't (reformed, that is... he's definitely mercenary). That line "I've got your fugitives" just floored me the first time I saw it.

Lastly... two by two. Ariel had the most nail-biting climax of any of the episodes, in my opinion, thanks to the coolest and creepiest bad guys since... well, since the suspiciously similar Gentlemen on Buffy. Joss likes calm quiet killers in business suits; go figure. But man, are they awesome.

Plus, the episode is just overall fantastic, with a great heist, our first look at a core planet, and the powerful confrontation between Jayne and Mal. Simply superb.

"We need a hood ornament."

fav firefly episode has to be and is funny everytime you watch!! "trash" its just so shiny and god damn good!!! its Wash that makes the epi just that little bit more, but then i love all firefly and choosing hurts!!!
Wash: I'm confused...
Saffron: You're asking yourself if I've got the security codes, why don't I just go in and grab it for myself -- why cut you in?
Wash: No. Actually... I was wondering... What's she doing on the ship!? Didn't she try to kill us?

Mal: She hitched.
Wash: I don't recall pulling over...

Objects in Space...definately. Really Sad that they killed of the Shepherd in Serenity, I need to know what Early meant by "That's No Shepherd"

"Money wasn't good enough." - Jayne
"What happens when it is?" - Mal
"Well now, that'll be an interestin' day, now won't it?" - Jayne

I'd have to say it's a tie between War Stories and Serenity (I love Wash's opening scene with the dinosaurs; cracks me up every time). I like War Stories 'cause of the whole conversation during the torture. Plus it has two of my favorite lines in the whole series: "I'll be in my bunk..." and "I know its a difficult mission, but you and I... have to get it on." "I understand, sir, we have no choice." Its genius. Plus the whole Niska gettin' his ASS KICKED by Mal thing was definitely a bonus
