What kind of world do we live in when the greatest show of all time cannot be allowed to continue on? Where were all the scifi fans when you need 'em. I mean, Stargate is going on seven years now. I guess a better question would be where was the scifi channel when you needed 'em?

"Sure, it would be humiliating. Having to lie there while the better man refuses to spill your blood. Mercy is the mark of a great man. Guess I'm just a good man. Well, I'm all right." -Mal

Ten years now. Breaking all manner of records.

*cough*doctorwho26yearsontheairthankyouverymuch*cough*

There's a really horrid truth here: the Fox execs that cancelled Firefly will be able to hold up the box office of Serenity as proof that they were right. Now you can argue that the show was designed for TV and not the big screen but regardless, as far as the head honchos are concerned, the bean counters got that one right.

But then it's symptomatic of the networks pushing for everything to reach maximum market share, not realising that by making everything this same bland homogenous package aimed at 16-25 year olds, it is driving everyone away from television.

Yep. Because decisions regarding arts and culture what makes great TV should obviously be left in the hands of accountants. They're exactly the right people for the job.

*no offence to any accountants on the board*

Welcome to capitalism, there is no consideration more important than money.

No one can see their reflection in running water. It is only in still water that we can see.

Accountants should have in no way shape or form any measure of control. Their job is to sit in their shitty little office and crunch numbers that's it. If I want one of their opinions then I will kick their ass until I get it. They have pretty much ruined the American business enterprise, screwed up the government, and now they are systematically ruining television. Almost as bad as the gorram Union.
