You could always ask her straight up. But then again, my last relationship crashed and burned, so what do I know.

ask her if she would like to come over to watch a movie. Might I suggest coughSernitycough for you?

Anyway, think of a "date" that wouldn't cost money. Or ask the parental units if you could do some chores for enough money to go to a movie or something - then ask her if she would like to go.

girls like to know that they are liked. The worst that will happen - she won't feel the same back. And that isn't a bad thing. If someone doesn't feel the same way about you - it does NOT mean there is something wrong with you. It just means that they are not the one for you.

AND while you're watching Serenity together be sure to mention how much you appreciate fiction with strong women characters and not just women who are the hero's love interest. That'll really impress her

Plus it allows you to turn the topic to Firefly.

Kidding aside, I'd agree with what's already been said. Try letting her know how you feel.

List of Fun Cheap/Free dates for the under 16 crowd

Buy a glow in the dark bouncy ball and play basketball/four square/volleyball at a park or playground after dark

Go to the mall and make a list of 10 things you would buy if you won a million dollars ( do this while window shopping)

Get a group of friends together, write a movie and use your parents camera to film it...then make popcorn and watch it.

Check your local library's schedule of events and go to a little kids puppet show/ kids theater ( trust me it's silly and fun)

Go to the pet store and look at /play with the pets.

Hope this helps.

Godd luck.

I suggest that you spend time figuring out exactly what Jayne would do, and then promptly do the complete opposite.

Definitely don't trade her for a gun with the other boy.

I wouldn't have a clue what to do,I've never been on a date let alone had a girlfriend.Okay I did have a girlfriend once when I was between the ages of 4-7 years old(even kissed once),but she moved away from where I lived, there was a girl I liked at school(after I was 7 years old) but she kinda liked me when I was younger but I moved away to another city a few years later never even getting to tell her I liked here, the reason I telling you this is don't wait until it's too late, jump in while you have chance. And if the other boy's is really a jerk then she'll never like him,so go for it,taking her to the movies is always a safe bet.

CEDRIC

Okay, here are some things to understand about women and relationships. (Men, too, but you're not trying to pick up guys.)It took me a long time to figure this stuff out, so you're way ahead of the game with me telling you this stuff:

(1) Most people are attracted to those who are bad for them, not to those who are nice. Take Firefly fandom--Jayne would make a terrible boyfriend, yet women on the boards are all panting over him. Same is true to a lesser degree for Mal. Simon gets fangirls panting only because Sean Maher is so damn pretty. Wash, the dependable husband character, doesn't get the same kind of attention Jayne does. And I've yet to see any screen names based on lusting after Shepherd Book.

But Jayne, the least dependable, rudest, most despicable guy on the ship--women just love him.

(2) You seem like a nice guy, and there's a good chance that women will ignore you (or treat you like a brother) because of it. Most young women date jerks.

You probably are not capable/willing to really be a jerk, so here's the magic formula: 49% Jayne/51% Simon. (Or 49% jerk/51% sweetheart)

This formula really works, especially if you can phrase the "jerk" comments as light-hearted jokes. Here's an example: "I really like being with you. You're fun to hang with, and I like how smart you are." (Okay that's the sweetheart part; now, be a jerk, but with an endearing smile.) "Oh, and you've got a really hot ass!"

(3) Confidence is sexy. Yeah, I know it's hard to have confidence when you're thirteen and virgin. (Try being nineteen and virgin--it took me decades to get over that.) So if you don't have any confidence, fake it! If she says, "You're really sweet and handsome," don't argue with her even if you think you look like a toad. Smile and say, "Yeah, I know."

(4) Remember that women want men, not puppy dogs. If you are all about affection and doing every last thing she wants and never standing up to her, she'll treat you like a puppy dog. And you want to be treated like a man.

(5) Remember what I said about people being attracted to those who are bad for them. There's a good chance that you will end up falling for someone who's bad for you. Never be afraid to get out of a relationship if your sweet little Saffron turns out to be a cold-blooded Yo-Saff-Bridge. For that matter, don't stay in any relationship too long at your age--there are a bunch of fish in that sea, and many of them are just dying to jump into your net.

Be strong, Brother,

Cedric

Yes gals, especially inmature gals, are into jerks. The jerkier they are, the more they want them. It makes sense. Think about it. The most powerful and influential men are inevitably the jerkiest phonies around. You can't beat them. You can pretend to be a jerk to hook gals, but it's a catch-22. You see the more they get hooked by your "pretend" jerkiness, the more you lose respect for them. So you see...you can't win. And don't think women want to be with jerks just so that they can change them, because that doesn't work either. Once they have a guy domesticated they start resenting him for being so weak and whipped. Yes I'm bitter.

Yes ask out. Ask her or someone else will. Probably after school when you have time to talk. If you get a positve reply, then walk her home. Ask what she likes. You probably know some things about her, so that will help. Never talk negative about anything. Negative talk brings bad vibes. When you learn enough of what she likes then use one of those ideas MSG listed for a date or if she has hinted at something. If you can convince her to do something with you then when you go on this date buy her a coke or something. You don't have to spend a lot. Just a token to show she is special. Remember this. If your nervous about this, your not alone. I'm 54 and I get nervous. It is natural to be nervous when something special is about to happen in your life.

Good luck Bigwolf18. Remember no negative talk.

Girls really like guy's who aren't afraid to put it out there!
Don't be nervous,or stammer your words, just ask her out and that will tell the tale.
Chances are she'll bite the hook, then you can do the FF./Serenity movie watchin' when you've got her hooked.

Miss never-had-a-date says groupdates are good: eg, "A load of use are going to (insert local town's name here)/see a film/ the park. Want to come? This way its not arkward,on your own if you can't think of anything to say, she's more likely to say yes (supposedly) because its not as serious and scary, and if you decide mid-date that you actually don't like her, then there are other people to talk to! (ok, scrap the last bit, thats harsh!)

Ok now don't panic, maybe she's just processing or trying to figure out what she wants. Sometimes it takes a minute to shift your thinking from friend to more than friends...
Yeah I'd agree that confidence is great. There's a fantastic moment in the Disney movie Hocus Pocus. Max is new and the class is talking about witches and one cute girl kind of teases him. He stands up, smiles and then says" here's my number , call me if they show up" and gives her his number in front of the class. That's a great example of confidence in action. The willingness to just go for it is really attractive!!

"cause if she's deliberately avoiding you I'd just back away quietly after saying you're fine with being friends only( if indeed you are fine with that) If she simply has been busy, then yes I'd step up and ask her out to do something...come to think of it, just ask her out that way you'll know for certain if she's interested or not:)

Weel kid, I say take your lumps and callit a day. Sounds like the Yeti's gonna pound on ya anyway so strap on your butt kickin' boots and dive on in. Seems you do need to find out how she's feelin'. I suggsest you do this before the violence ensues. Nothin' like a bit of teen angst to kill the pain. Besides, what do ya' got to lose, (besides teeth). Don't worry much about the bullies. They usually smack folks around for self gratification. Dependin' on the type of person you are he'll either give up because you start cryin' or he'll give up because you fight your little heart out. I don't condone violence. But I don't condone folks gettin' pushed 'round neither. Make sure your intentions are clear on both fronts. And make dang sure clear the intentions of the girl and the Yeti. Good luck little Browncoat. (Wipes tear) They grow up so fast.

Yup, I'm sad to say, It won't be any different when the girl is 16 either, I tried to ask this girl out when I was a senior in highschool, she was a junior, I asked her, she said she'd think about it, and the next word we spoke was almost six months later, when I E-mailed her to see how she was doin'. High school girls are a drag, which is one of the reasons I LOVE college SO much!

Edit: With a little luck, your girl will be a little quicker in responding. I don't know if this has been said already, probably has, but remember, Plenty of other fish!

I don't know how you approached her. Did you actually ask on a date or did you just say how you felt? You probably caught her by surprize, so she may need time to realize what happened. You may be the first guy to approach her like this. If you meet her again then ask if she would like to do something. You may be ready for a relationship but she may not. That does not mean she does not like you, if she says no. Just may mean she's not ready yet.

Also you have let her know that someone appreciates her. That has to make her feel good. So you have done a good thing.

This is my advice:
if i was the girl in this situation... I would probably like to hear something along the lines "You don't have to talk to me anymore after this, but hear me out. I didn't want to tell you my feelings towards you because I feared this would happen... our friendship would be destroyed. It means too much to me and I didn't want to loose you from my life. I only told you because... I didn't want you going out with that jerk. So do this for me. Don't go out with him."

okay. i don't think i would do anything involved with fireflly or serenity (even if i so love it) I think it could actually make her not like you.

If she has a locker, like everyday of school slip in something, a quote of inspiration, a cartoon drawing you did, something to make her happy each morning. I know it can be a bit corny, but hey it could work. She could think it is sweet and reconsider you. If not you could at least still be friends.

Don't use if you think it's stupid, but i was only 13 two years ago.
