I *do* hope this doesn't include running nekkid...
'twas better done a few decades back.

BUT! Put a few flowers in your hair, head for SF this coming weekend, and attend all or some of the Browncoat Ball events. For those of us who can't go. Please? Then post your shiny photos where we can see them. Shawna Trpcic is supposed to be there, even. There were some discounted tickets available at one point, and you don't have to buy the whole weekend, either.
Check out the Ball under Events, right-hand side of the Home page.

Lived in Monterey, CA for 3 years (Ft. Ord) in the early 1980's and went to San Fran a couple of times. Learned fast that if you wanted to warm up go to San Jose but for the best crab, clam chowder and bread (Oh, heavenly bread) you had to go to San Fran and get a "walk away cocktail".

Yes, you can sure warm up in San Jose.

so many micro-climates and area differences

Ghirardelli chocolate memory. They used to have this giant chocolate bar in the window. My family was walking through and my little brother ( at the time about 8 years old) saw the chocolate bar and was rooted to the spot for a good 10 minutes ( this is the same child that, when filling out his pre-school application under the section need to know, my mother put "will do anything for chocolate"

Ditto here. It was actin' all fall-like last week, then it slowly warmed up over the weekend and then this morning it's 70 degrees at 4:30 am and now at 4:30 pm, it's 61 and dropping. *sigh*

Ah, act like I'm at home. Can do.

Sorry, but all I keep remembering was reading the travel books before I went to the UK one fall(late October). All the travel logs said how cold and wet it would be and to dress warmly and in layers with good waterproof boots. Well, it was in the mid 50's and one day with rain. I dragged those useless (heavy) boots around in my backpack and very nearly threw them in the Liffey in disgust (and severe back pain.)

Then I went home. It was 40 and poured rain for a solid week. That's when I noticed the travel books were all printed in LA. Huh. One of these day's I'll see what those books say about the Midwest.

Actually, I lnow what your weather is like. It's much like the western part of the state here due to the the Great Lakes which makes it very, very damp.

I unfortunately won't be at the Ball. No money. So ya'll go there & do the hippy-hippy shake for me, okay?

In the meantime, maybe I'll mangle a few more 60's peace & love songs.

Good old Wisconsin. Love the 50 degree change in 24 hours. Tire chains optional. We like our snow wet and deep. In Milwaukee we get what they call "lake effect snow" from Lake Michigan. Which means anything within five mile of the shoreline can expect three or more inches of snow over the rest of the state. Of course the east side of Milwaukee has very little off road parking because it is so old. So most people get their cars buried in snow when the city plows drive down the streets.

Oh, I get that, too and from the same lake. 'Course I'm 3 hours east of there....*sigh* Also get it from Huron and Erie which are a mite bit closer.

Can you say, "bullseye?"

A friend of mine lived in Milwaukee for a few years and absolutely loved it. She said it was much less snowy and rainy there than Grand Rapids.

Actually, in the lower pennsula, GR is the bullseye. The moisture the storm systems gather over lake Michigan get dumped about 30-40 miles inland and that's, yep, Grand Rapids.

The U.P. we'll just call a MAJOR snow factory and leave it at that, eh?

The G. chocolate wasn't a memory -- I have none --
but here near my left elbow (while they last)
is a bag of G. chocolate chips. I regard them
as medicinal.

As for memories, isn't there a saying that if you
can remember the 60s you weren't really there?
