Also King James is the one who "edited" the bible to include the phrase thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. It wasn't there before...kinda makes you wonder what kind of mom he had, doesn't it??

God I luv British humor! I don't get it "poof" is british slang for a gay man it's odd though, in scotland it doesn't always have alot to do with sexuality, the tea i drink at work, for example (depends, but generally lady grey) is generally described as 'Sam's poofy tea' by everyone but me, and i'm fairly sure the tea hasn't been having it off with the teabags behind the back of the closet coffee...

It can be a lot less extreme than what you're talking about and still be considered 'dykey' by many. Short hair (especially with a T-shirt) or being mechanical or a hard drinker or a sports fan etc etc etc... And of course the love of comfy shoes. My dad once told me I had dyke shoes. There's a reason he was the last person I came out to.

Quote:Originally posted by RugBug: For example: A nicely dressed (defined as sort of stylish, but could just be nice fitting jeans and a little t-shirt) woman at the sports bar pounding beer and cheering on her favorite team...does she get called a dyke? Nope. She gets plenty of male attention and probably more than a few of them want to take her home. Nicely/stylishly dressed guy in a tea house, sipping his favorite blend (do they blend teas, I really don't know ) is 'faggy, queer, homo, limp wristed', etc. The labels are much more present and readily applied to men.

PR- speaking of coming out you should read Neil Patrick Harris's press release... basic gist is " I don't know where these ugly rumors that I am straight are coming from. Let me assure my public that I am definitely gay. I hope this puts and end to the rumors." Made me laugh:)
