salad toppings?

1. spinach leaves
2. bacon (real bacon, not the fake crap)
3. carrots (chunks, not shavings)
4. cucumbers
5. hard boiled egg (in pieces)
6. dried cherries
7. raspberry vinegrette

only 7, but that's my perfect salad

1. Raspberry sauce and almond
2. Taco stuff. Taco salad rocks off socks
3. Easy on the Thousand. A little goes a long way with any dressing
4. Grahm crackers crumbled over fruit salad. Don't know why. It's just good.
5. Drew a blank.
Ten is a bit much but if anyone has any more I am more than willing to try. I HATE ranch. Some folks in these parts use ranch on everything and it is sickening.

THEM: "I wonder why my ass keeps getting fatter."
ME: "Gee, I don't know. Could it be the bottle of ranch you killed the flavor of your salad with or the econo barrel of Mayo you keep buying?"

Ranch and mayo: Use sparingly!

On the cutesy thing, I'm still burnt from another and have some underlaying issues with it. But I gave in and added a hunny bunny sort of name to my texts so I guess that's a start. I almost forgot actual "notes". Stupid 'puters really do make a person dumber.

ADD: I almost forgot that you saw the cutesy messages to "It" MSG. Hopefully you understand why I am having a hard time of it.

NVG, Is that ranch thing like when some people smother everything they eat with catsup? That's something that seems to happen a lot around here, and I find it rather gross, so much so that I can't seem to eat much catsup at all.

Oh yeah. Catsup is good but c'mon. How much does a person need. I just have this thing about over doing condiments and ruining the actual flavor of food. Catsup does kinda make sense for fast food though don't it.

Your onion ring thing made me realize something. Onion rings don't really taste good with greens. Any sandwich I've ever seen never had any greens, not even a pickel on them.

Dang it. Now I really want onion rings. Thanks Zeek.

Mmmmm onion rings. I usually make myself a sandwich for lunch on the weekends and when I have time I'll put an onion ring or two in the toaster oven to put on the sandwich. Now that's good stuff.

Top ten salad items (or the perfect salad):

1. Kidney Beans
2. Garbanzo Beans
3. White Corn (yellow corn works too)
4. Peas
5. red onion slivers
6. black olive slices
7. TOMATOES (Rugbug's favorite food)
8. Tiny bit of grated cheese
9. Sunflower Seeds
10. Smattering of Bacon Bits (real or artificial)

Now add a little dressing like a balsamic vinagrette or a honey mustard something or other and eat. I could eat this salad everyday.

mornin' Imponderables.

*GLOMPS DTH again for good measure*

Salad toppings:
First, it should be noted that I cannot stand lettuce, and therefore don't use it in salads. My ideal salad would be:
1. Edamame (Japanese soy beans)
2. Diced Roma tomatoes
3. Cucumbers
4. Bleu Cheese crumbles
5. REAL bacon crumbles
6. Some baby spinach leaves
7. Button mushrooms
8. Corn sounds good (thanks RugBug)
9. Fresh mozerella or parmesean (or both!)
10. Dressing, either Bleu cheese if I am in the mood for creamy, or basalmic vinegarette.

On the topic of the previous thread, I made a big time comfort food meal last night. Country fried steak, crunchy on the outside yet still tender, very creamy mashed potatoes, green beans, corn bread, and fried onions. It was tasty. :)

So, you guys were on my mind last night. I went to get a haircut and this time the stylist convinced me to get it washed since I asked her to use the clippers that thin the hair out. She said hair would get everywhere even just on my drive home. So, I gave in and had to sit there concentrating so hard not to laugh about how I just had the conversation about hair washing with you guys. Every time I started to smirk I had to be like "baseball, puppies, whatever just think about something not funny!"

Nah she wasn't very good looking.

So, I guess you guys are a good group to ask. Is having a bunch of hair some sort of status symbol? I've always had a thick head of hair. So, in the summer I usually like them to use those thinning clippers so it's not like wearing a hat every day. Anyway when I asked her to use them she was like "yeah you do have a lot of hair". I was just like "yep" and then she said "yeah you're all like 'thank you'". At which point I was totally confused and just decided to respond with a chuckle. Why in the world would I take "you have a lot of hair" as a compliment?

Not that I'm aware of, and I'm usually the first to jump on any status symbol I can claim.

But then we Scots are naturally thin haired and blue skinned, so maybe we just decided we weren't having any of that thick haired keech xD

Oh, I don't know about that, Odds. It may just be some type of unconscious status symbol.

I have extremely thick hair. Extremely. My roomie and I once did a little test. She braided her hair and then I took as much of mine that would make a braid the same thickness as her's. I had four braids to her one. That's how thick it is.

I'm always getting the 'wow, you have a lot of hair' said as if it's a compliment. People seem (and say they are) jealous of it. People that don't have to deal with it, that is. When I was getting it washed at the beauty college (while my arm was broken) the girls would all 'ooh and aah' over it.

Yeah. Whatever. It's hair. But there is some kind of compliment behind a 'wow you have thick hair' comments. I just say thanks or an incredulous 'I KNOW. Isn't it crazy?'

Haha! Well I guess thick lustrous hair is supposed to be a nice feature for a woman isn't it 'Bug? I remember when I was in school, you could tell if the girls were working up to a proper bitching session because they always started with 'and her hair is so thin and greasy' before they built up, saved me alot of bother once I picked that one up xD

I usually just get 'huh, you know you actually have a lot of hair here' and then 'you're really sure you don't want me to use the clippers? really really sure?' and then much muttering as they thin and trim ^^

edit hey you're onto a winner there Zeek xD shall we run a book on how many applicants you get per hour?

That doesn't bother me in the least. In fact I really like it a lot when people come up to you and grab you hair.

The hair-grabbing has been mentioned before in an earlier version of this thread. It doesn't happen to me. I can't imagine doing that to anyone. That is really crossing a personal boundary that should be off limits. Yet people do that. Was it because someone did it to them as children (when it was probably lees off limits)? Or that they've witnessed it and so it would (to them) be acceptable?

You know what the first rule of flyin' is? Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds. And love keeps her in the air when she oughtta fall down… tells ya she's hurtin' 'fore she keels… makes her a home.

What if I ask real nice??

Personally, having my grandmother constantly stroking my hair as a child was a real turn-off. I don't do it to other people unless we'd both feel comfortable about it. We're talking about UFIH - unsolicited fingers in hair. (DTH, I know you're a Farkette; you get that one?) Thankfully my aversion stops at the unsolicited part, and I like hair and finger play.

My hair is also thick and I think it's a compliment the same way "you're so skinny!" is--or at least was--a compliment. It has to do with the fact that the alternative is kind of...uncomplimentable.

3. Crumbled up hard-boiled eggs
4. Sliced Radishes
5. Grated Carrots
6. Cherry--not grape--tomatoes, or real ones if'n there good
7. Tender, young salad greens (this is really a subclass all its own)
8. Sliced cucumber
9. Croutons
10. Alfalfalfalfa sprouts although bean sprouts will do
11. Catalina or raspberry vinegarette dressing

So, does anybody else just enjoy a good argument between friends sometimes? Cause I was bored and figured eh this will pass the time. So, I started IMing a friend with "so what do you think about the presidential candidates?" (I hate politics and could care less about them overall) Anyway it quickly led to a debate about abortion and really got to passing the time for a while there. Of course a few minor insults were thrown around and stuff, but really it worked like a charm. Kept me awake and passed the time like it was the weekend for a while.

Anybody else argue for fun?

I'm not afraid of a good debate, but I don't like it when things get heated. It's so easy for it to turn nasty, especially over issues where one person refuses to even acknowledge the other's POV.

For example: I was recently debating the horridness that is the HSUS (Humane Society of the United States) and other animal rights groups. Now, I'm all for animal WELFARE, but not animals rights. I think HSUS is deceptive in not only their fund raising practices and the allocation of those funds, but also in the major tenets as an organization. My co-worker was at the point that she couldn't concede a single point...even though I am quite right in my suppositions and accusations.

But it did keep things lively for a bit...and we are still friends, so all is good.

Debates are best when people can leave the personal feelings out of it and just have an exchange of information. If you're not out to change someone's mind, but instead discuss an issue from both sides, it's a learning experience for everyone involved. IMHO, of course.

Morning all:)

Jonny now be nice...he meant that teasingly Rugbug( which I'm sure you knew, but after the recent ickiness I felt compelled to point out)

Ok I realized I forgot to put up my salad

1-spinach or dark greens
2- tomatos
3-hearts of palm
4-artichoke hearts
5-pickled beets
6- cucumber
7- mushrooms
8- garbanzo beans
9- blue cheese crumbles
10- fresh shrimp or grilled steak/chicken
11- balsamic vinegar dressing

Ok well the field trip yesterday was fine ( actually got a decent tour of the college and all) and then we took the kids to a beach at a reservoir ( all I could think was OMG not this anything but more sand in my shoes and sunburn)

Hmm yeah I'm with you on the don't touch my hair. Mine's sort of silky and I've actually had kids "pet it" which caused me to step back and remind them of personl space, but secretly I wanted to yell" what kind of freak are you petting a teachers hair??"

Heh...they call me arrogant, too. Some other names that I probably shouldn't post here.

Good debate is about give and take. No side is completely right and nor are they completely wrong. If you can't concede to the 'right' points of the opposition, why even discuss anything?

Chatzy has been weird on me the past few weeks. I am the moderator for the 76th Chatzy, though I cannot get in to either it or Haven with my preferred name, SFC Alexander. It tells me that the name is reserved, and if I am that person, to log in. I click log in, but there is no obvious way to do so. Meh. Haven't had a lot of time to visit everyone in there recently anyhow...

I like playing with hair, but only when it is invited and/or desired. Myself, I haven't had enough to really play with in a long time, though it doesn't bother me too much if someone touches it. If they want to risk geting nargle bites, that's their own choice.

We must all fear evil men, but there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.

I wouldn't mind if I had any hair. You growin' yours out yet? I've started to (want some for D*C) but I could probably get by with one more cut before then.

Speaking of Nargles, did anyone else here about this guy? (MsQ brings it to my attention whilst retching; thanks baby...)
