Like every other Firefly Forum has done this post so why not FF.net, so have you seen Chuck and if so what do you think of it and did you like our BDH Adam Baldwin role in it.

Since I'm English, Chuck isn't shown over here and might never be so I did it the internet way, note to self stop using internet illegally for personnel gain to watch Big Damn Heroes.
I watched it yesterday and thought is was quite entertaining, a fresh of breath air compared to most TV show's nowadays and liked how it has proper Geek...I mean Nerd reference's.
Adam I think got to bring out a little of his Jayne personality in this one unlike most of his other roles.

And that CIA agent Sarah is smoking HOTTTT!!!!!

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

I liked a lot of the show, especially the actors playing Chuck and Morgan. However, I am getting tired of shows that depict the NSA, CIA and other government agencies as total whack jobs. Perhaps it's close to the truth, in which case we're in a helluva lot worse shape in the world that I already fear.

Adam was good, but in real life I don't think he would have made it very far up the agency ladder with that cold-blooded an attitude. Of course, I know this is not real life, but it makes it hard for me to accept that portion of the show.

Actually, I was sort of pleased that I found the show rather boring. I don't need another show to tie me to the TV, and since Adam isn't a major character, I won't miss him too much.

Well, unless he was on screen during the times I was nodding off, I only noticed him for a minute or two on the pilot and then again right at the end for a half-second. Didn't seem like a major part to me...

It took me a while to get into it, but I'll definitely be tuning in next week.

A warning: don't go into it expecting anything remotely realistic. It's a comedy; a parody of prime-time action-dramas (just as Reaper is a parody of supernatural "demon-hunting" shows).

If you must, try to pretend that it takes place in the "heightened" reality of The Matrix (where people can survive powerful explosions by jumping away, million-terabyte files can be downloaded in seconds, laptops are everywhere, and information can be directly downloaded through a computer screen).

Yeah I liked it on the first viewing, more so on the second.

Seriously, the actor who plays Chuck is entirely too cute to be a nerd.

Then again, the same could be said for the nerds/dorks in Joss's shows, so I'll leave it alone.

Liked the Sydney Bristow wannabe a little more on the second viewing, but still kinda think she's miscast.

Haven't seen it all ,but I did tivo it...the part I did see seemed good...
As for CIA, NSA, etc all being whack jobs..it's not the whole agency, just the ones who work in the special parts... I had a student who's dad was CIA and he seemed very nice...of course we were really careful to be nice to him too...
Certain types of jobs attract whack jobs because you kind of have to be one to be comfortable doing some of that stuff..at least as far as I can tell:)

America loves a winner!

Like it so far. Though not the first time an unsuspecting character has been implanted w/ secrets w/ out their permission. ( River - Firefly and John Doe ) Adam plays more of a Jayne type character - shoot first, then ask questions, and I like that. Nothing against Marcus Hamilton and his charcater from The Inside, but he does rough around the edges quite nicely.

Chuck's sister is absurdly hot as well. I look for Adam's character to catch her eye and he and Mr Wonderful have a go at each other for her affection. Maybe ? We'll see.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

Second show was even better than the first and I love that Adam's getting more air time, he seemed more of an extra in the pilot but there was so much more of him here and he managed to show off his comedic gold during the dinner scene (how he just shows up.... WITH MINI QUICHES! A man shows up with mini quiches, you just gotta adore that) And damn.... he got beat up by a girl, true she wasn't 90 pounds but hey....

And for me the best parts were after he got drugged and tried to stay awake, "Yeah, we may have got it wrong." while he's slowly passing out.... and I just lol when they come into the store and Chuck's looking around and suddenly *BOOM*, Casey falls down, Chuck doesn't even notice, then he get's up again like nothing happened. Just sweeeet. Adam and the guy who plays Chuck play well off each other. There was enough action, all out humour, and some sweetness to make this a keeper for me.

Please NBC, give it a chance.

I really enjoyed last night's episode! I was greatly amused at watching Chuck try to teach Casey the store policies, etc. Then the two agents working to convince Chuck that the other one was dangerous.

The part where they followed the wrong beacon and found Morgan at Buy More. So many funny moments in this show!

I'm hooked. Now that I've said that, I'll be paranoid about it getting canceled! Of course, this show has one thing going for it -- it's NOT on F*x!!!

So, yeah, parts of it were contrived, but who can't love a series with so many well-played nerd jokes and a *ninja* in the first ep?! When I first heard the premise, I thought it would be totally stupid, and the premise still is a bit, but the actual episodes crack me up. I thought it would be a drama, but it is so totally comedy without being sitcom stupid.

I appreciate the most that they manage to convey nerd life without overtly criticizing or making fun of it - just showing what is. Case point - the comment about ninja revenge.

Absolutely *loved* Casey's (Adam Baldwin's) entrance in the first ep... and the second ep. I think Adam Baldwin is pretty good at melting into roles, so stop looking for Jayne! He's Casey now!

Captain Awesome is indeed awesome. Chuck's "let's do this" line in ep 2 is so well-delivered, I'm still laughing.

Yep... I'm a Chuck fan!

I really liked CHUCK, and I liked the second ep way more than the first. I like how they're approaching it as a more comedic version of ALIAS, which personally I felt could have used a few more laughs.

The one detail that I appreciated about it is that even though Chuck has all of the govt's secrets in his head, he's not a fighter or have any other abilities. Because the basic plot of the show (normal person gains abilities and has to save people on a regular basis) is similar to both REAPER, JOURNEYMAN and BIONIC WOMAN. And one cliche that happens (BIONIC WOMAN being the most guilty of them all) is that the hero gets the abilities and then they know how to wield them and kick ass. What I like about CHUCK is that he's still a normal joe even after getting all the govt's secrets in his head. Like when he has to land the helicopter, he has to be talked down and has to remember a videogame in order to land successfully. He doesn't know already how to do this superspy stuff yet.

Plus, it funny to see Adam Baldwin as this tough guy working in a place that he is so overqualified at. I love it when he chased down the shoplifter and threatened Chuck with the scanner gun.

As per REAPER, I kind of see it more as a Kevin Smith kind of thing, even though he only directed the pilot. He said when he read it that it reminded him of Shaun of the Dead, and that he'd describe it as one part Clerks, one part Dogma and one part Ghostbusters, with healthy dashes of Twin Peaks and X-Files mixed in.

Which I think is apt. After watching Buffy, I felt that DOGMA is what Buffy would have been like if Joss actually believed in God. Where he would have used real angels instead of some pretty-boy vampire. So now when I see REAPER, I see it as a glimpse into a parallel universe where Kevin Smith created Buffy.

I was deeply disappointed in Bionic Woman, because I had assumed she would try to maintain her civilian life and separation from the secret government organization for as long as possible, but instead by the end of the second episode she had 'signed on'... and now it feels to me just like an Alias clone (a show I have not use for),

Chuck seems to be much more committed to making the NSA and CIA work at meeting his requirements, letting him remain his own man (or nerd)....
Chuck is definitely my kind of show!

What I meant about it being Joss-like was more the humor, the style of the show, and that the lead character reminds me of Xander, being recruited by a cross between Quentin Travers and Giles (but looking like Leland Palmer!). The show reminding me of Joss's work had nothing to do with the religious aspects...it's the overall package.

True. One of my all time favorite episodes was when Marshall had to dig up Sydney and then take over her mission. That was priceless. Favorite Jack Bristow moment was the "fortune cookie' crack.

But you have to admit that the humor on the show was more of an afterthought, rather than a driving force.

I read somewhere that with the two agents that are tailing Chuck, it's basically Sydney Bristow and Jack Bauer together. And that is so true, if you think about it. Imagine Keifer Sutherland in the Casey role and you have the exact same dynamic.

I always thought Keifer would be a great straight man in like an action comedy. He's always funny whenever he does a talk show, so I think he could get some great laughs.

I had hopes for it, but in the end I agree it's starting to feel like an Alias clone (I was a fan of that show, though), especially because I did read the new TV Guide w/Michelle Ryan on the cover and the article inside implies that Jaime will be continuing to be going back and forth with her loyalties to the organization after all throughout the season. It's a little sad to me that I'm not loving the show, because I actually think Michelle Ryan is good in this role...good enough that I really want to like it so I'll give it a few more eps before I make a final decision. The rest of the cast I could take or leave.

The main reason I'm sticking behind it is because so many people from BATTLESTAR GALACTICA are involved with it both in front of and behind the camera. So maybe it'll improve. Not all show can hit the ground running. Sometimes they have to work their way up.

The spork? Loved it! But what about Marshall going on the mission w/Syd and his fake British accent? And Jack saying 'thong'? Or when Vaughn was getting ready to tell Jack he was going to propose to Syd?

I don't think the humor of Alias was an afterthought so much as comic relief. Not the driving force, but just as necessary sometimes. Reminded me that the characters were human after all.

Regarding Bionic Woman: I had seen the pilot at Comic Con in San Diego, and I had been really excited about it....
but they made some changes in the pilot before airing the show on TV:
they got rid of the really interesting, intense, and angry deaf sister... who was an amazing actress and created a really strong sisterly connection w/Jamie Sommers
and they replaced her with the cuter, less intense, weaker actress who doesn't seem to create any sisterly feeling or chemistry w/Michelle Ryan's character.

I felt it is was like they cut the heart out of the show, literally.

It certainly changed my feeling about the pilot, and then when added with this second episode (which seriously turned me off) I'm now feeling very luke warm about the show.

It said in that TV Guide that she was a last minute replacement for Mae Whitman, but it didn't specify why that was. When I read that, I thought about the character being a computer hacker, and how Mae Whitman looks like (forgetting her name at the moment) Mac from Veronica Mars, and I got a little happy 'cuz in my weird little brain I was thinking they were re-creating Mac a little bit...which thrilled me. But I didn't know about the deaf thing.

Ahem, speaking of Chuck...

Originally I didn't have any interest in Chuck because I didn't know Adam Baldwin was in it (what are they thinking not having him in the advertisements?!). I caught a rerun of the first episode by accident and I'm hooked. You haven't lived until you've seen AB run down a shoplifter! The "creepy guy upstairs" thing is also new & amusing. I think the show is getting better.

Not too into the Bionic Woman. Only the evil chick from Battlestar Galactica seems interesting to me. Jamie's a big whiner with a whiner sister. But it's a good cast, so there's potential. I think I'll wait and see if it catches on...
