What is your favorite catch phrase from Firefly or any other movie. No need to keep within the genre or media. Films, TV Series and book are all fair game. Oh, and it doesn't matter if the whole film/series/book blew baboon offal - just as long as you really enjoyed the catch phrase and any actions it inspired.

I'll give an example to get ya started, not really my fave, but here ya go.

Terminator : "I'll be back" ... then 'it' drives the car thu the front doors of the Police Station and crashing further into the front desk.

There ya go - have at!

"Remember, there is only ONE absolute - There ARE NO absolutes!!!"

CYBERSNARK

"Don't kid yourself." --InuYasha (For someone who lies to himself [about himself] as much as he does, it's poetically just that he's so hard on others about it. Loved it when Kagome finally throws the line back in his face.)

"You. . . are a fool." --Megatron (Transformers Armada) (The dub and the animation both sucked, but the "I have to pace the lipsynch" delivery of this line is just hilarious.)

"I've got a bad feeling about this." --Everyone in Star Wars (Especially funny when someone said it in a theatre just before AotC started )

"Frell me dead." --Aeryn Sun (Farscape) (Just a good all-purposes "holy sh*t" expression.)

"Eat and grow strong." --Barbarossa Anasazi, as relayed by Tyr (Andromeda) (Apparently the Nietzschean equivalent of "bon apetit.")

"No good will come of this." --The Brain, from Pinky & (It's just so apropos for, like, every situation I ever find myself in. )

"Curses." --Mojo Jojo (The Powerpuff Girls) (Anytime, regardless of situation. For full effect, stretch it out ["Cuuuuurrrrrrsssseeeeeesssss."])

"Duh." --Bubbles Powerpuff (Said in a cheerful and upbeat manner.)

"Cheese! Cheese! CHEESE!" --from the "Moviehead" commercial that used to play on TVGuide channel. Just 'cause of the histrionics.

Also some multipurpose "insert word" ones:

"We have ___ Sign!" --from MST3K's version ("We have Movie Sign!"), reflecting an irreverent approach to life. For a true MSTer, anything is a potential MST target.

"I'm a doctor, not a ___." --If you don't get this one, I won't explain it.

DOUBLESHINY

Good to see 'No good will come of this', it's one of my faves, it was the tagline to my last radio show!

James Ellroy uses the phrase 'ding' in one of his books to describe a person of below average intelligence, I use that one a lot, but with a much more refined definition which is a huge in joke and surely of no interest to anyone here.

I use shiny a lot, as you can see from the username, also 'doubleshiny'!

Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

From 'The Dark Tower': Ka.

From Star Wars: I've got a bad feeling about this...

10k? 10K?!

*Bows down to lissa* For those who know the wonders of The 10th Kingdom are hard to find. ^_^

I also use 'Bored now', and I've picked up on Buffy lingo. Lots of 'uber' before words and 'ly' and 'ish' added to the ends of them.

'Huff puff.' from The 10th Kingdom. Yay for Wolf.

I use Shiny and Gorram(it) a lot.

Most of mine have been mentioned...I've screamed 'We've got homework sign!' in class before. And 'Damnit, Lisha, I'm a writer not a doctor!' is my side of the phrase my best friend and I have messed up and then tossed around. Oh, yes, and who can forget...

MST3k (movie): Oh my god, my waffles! OH, THE HUMANITY! (More of a quote...meh.)

I need to find a copy just to make sure I get it exactly right, but tonight I heard what will become my ultimate catchphrase on the show 'Dead Like Me'- The main character was about to get some bed news, and narrated, 'I could hear the hammer cock on life's fuck-me-over gun' (sorry for the profanity, you dont quite get the full impact with a 'censored')

My all time favorite though has to be:

Well where to start.
A lot of people have done Aliens quotes so I'd have to say
"Get away from her you bitch!" - I still the way Ripley emerges from the storage from lid from the back in the loader gear steps out and delivers that line is one of the greatest moments in science fiction shortly followed by one of the best fights in sci-fi.

As for Buffy I'd have to say the closing scene in "Lie to me". I'm going to try and to remeber it all now....
Buffy: Does it get any easier?
Giles: What do you want me to say?
Buffy: Lie to me
Giles: Yes, it does got easier. The good guys are always stalwart and true. The bad guys are easily distingusihed by their horns and black hats... and we always defeat them. No-one ever dies and we all live happily ever after.

It just shows that sometimes we all need to be lied to.

Well I better put in a firefly quote....
Mal: Everybody dies alone

"We don't talk about life, we only want to get drunk"
Ok thats not from a show film or book. It's from Design for life by the Manic Street Preachers. But I challenge anyone to find a quote that somes up this generation any better.

"All the terrorists this side of Eastern Europe and I had to find one with feet smaller than my wife"
Die hard, still unbeatable.

Ok I'm worried this is getting a little bit long so just some quick ones to finish.
"Na, "it" is not a real word, is short for "init" init" Ali G in da house
"Kids don't buy drugs. Become a pop star and they give them to you for free" Love Actually

Sorry if this dragged on a bit

Stan: Chef, how do you make a woman like you more than any other guy?
Chef: Oh, that's easy. You just gotta find the clitoris.
Stan: Huh?
Chef: Whoops.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
Sam: A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something.
Frodo: What are we holding on to Sam?
Sam: That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo... and it's worth fighting for.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Gandalf: All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

And last but not least...
Firefly
“Serenity”
Simon: You had the Alliance on you — criminals and savages. Half the people on this ship have been shot or wounded, including yourself — and you’re harboring known fugitives.
Mal: Well, we’re still flyin’.
Simon: That’s not much.
Mal: It’s enough.

“War Stories,” commentary
Nathan:"This next part is brought to you by black, the color of night."

Nathan: I really enjoyed this show — why’d it get cancelled?
Alan: I…I don’t know, I’ve got my theories.

Oldie but goodie...
Buffy, "Innocence," commentary
Joss: "When she picks up that rocket launcher, I have never loved her more." "...and Tony, as always – no pants."

MOHRSTOUTBEARD

Aside from the obligatory Firefly phrases, I enjoy using "What's the rumpus?" from Miller's Crossing.

There's also a plethora from The Big Lebowski: "You're out of your element, Donny!", "Careful man, there's a beverage here!", "Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.", "F*** it, Dude, let's go bowling.", etc.

CapnRahn's name reminds me of a good multi-purpose one, "Why is that, Captain Ron?" (in response to Kurt Russell's statement that engines love oil like a sailor loves his rum).

"You've just gotta go ahead and change the captain of your brainship, because he's drunk at the wheel."

It does me heart good to see SO many different phrases thrown out. Hopefully they will inspire others to check out series and movies that they may have not seen for whatever odd reason.

As to British comedy - check out "Coupling" and "Father Ted"! HI-Larious!!!

SHELTRK

Honestly, I'm kinda surprised at the dearth of "Angel" catch phrases here...

Here are a couple from the 3rd season episode "Sleep Tight" that are worth repeating:

Angel: Did you come here to fight or shall I make some tea?

Holtz: I want to keep Angelus alive... but not well.

BELLOVESUS

I should add more to this, but just don't feel like it right now. I will however say this...

"The only fluid I see is the puddle of piss refusin' to pay us our wage."

GRACEOM

One favorite Angel phrase that springs to mind:

"If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do."

Grace
